Tour de Freaks May

freakwelcome2013Welcome everyone to the May Tour de Freaks Blog Hop!  This month we are all new catalog sneak peeks!  With the new catalog launch right around the corner– here’s a great way to get some super ideas from the amazing Control Freak stampers!

If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from Melissa Davies and her Rubberfunatics Blog!  She has just such great ideas!

Oh my word…I just LOVE the new RMHC set – Sprinkled with Love.  Okay…I REALLY love the coordinating punch!  A TREE!!!  We got a TREE punch!  I’m SO happy!

First…here’s a cute little card…

MayHopI had such a fun time making these trees!  It does take a little patience with all the little pieces but I think it is worth worth it.  You have to be friends with your Tombow Glue to make this work.

Here’s the details:

  • Watermelon Wonder – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, layer onto Tip Top Taupe 3 3/4 x 3 3/4, stamp greeting using Tip Top Taupe and add to card front using using dimensionals.
  • Sun – Delightful Dijon and Cherry on Top dsp Paper stack.  1″ Circle punch, Banner punch.  Add using dimensionals
  • Trees – Tip Top Taupe (trunk), Cucumber Crush (solid top of tree), Garden Green (individual leaves) Watermelon Wonder (small flowers), Cherry on Top print (individual leaves and ‘ground’).  Add the bottom one right on the card, add the ‘ground’ then add the tree on top.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestone to finish it off

So…take pretty much all the same things and make it 3D.  I found this chalk banner at Michael’s along with the SMILE would piece and thought it would make a fun wallhanging.

DSC03519The only thing that is really different is the ‘smile’ on top.  I started by covering in white craft ink and drying (wanted it white and not wood).  Next, starting at the bottom lay on strips of the Cherry on Top Washi Tape.  Once you have that done, turn it over on a cutting pad and using an exacto knife, cut off the excess.  That’s all there is to that and such a GREAT look!

So the sun is the same as above (only added some basic rhinestones), 3 trees instead of two, the smile wood piece and then add a Watermelon Wonder 1″ Dotted Lace Trim bow to the top.

Now it’s time to head over to LeeAnn Greff’s Flowerbug blog.  I always just love her projects!

No Lion

SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop!  Each of the design team members is taking turns suggesting a theme and Connie picked the theme of Punch Art!  What can I say…TOUGH ONE!

If you are going forward in the hop you arrived here from my friend and partner Connie Babbert and her Inkspired Treasures blog.  She is the queen of punch art!

Well all I can say is punch art makes me break out in a cold sweat!  Connie said…that’s why this is called a challenge.  Hmmm…I have enough challenges in my life already!  LOL!  I need to apologize ahead of time…mine is a little lame!

SatHop

I do think this is kind of cute and really easy to make.  You only need these punches for the lion:  Pansy Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, 1/4″ Hole Punch.  2-Step Bird Punch.

Here’s the details –

  • Delightful Dijon – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Crushed Curry print (Cherry on Top dsp Paper Stack) – 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, layer onto Basic Black 3 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – 2 3/4 x 3 1/4.  Round right corners and add to card front
  • Make lion using the punches above.  The head of the Pansy punch (cut the petals apart on the Delightful Dijon one so they stick out behind the other one).  Face is the 1″ Circle, eyes 1/2″ and 1/4″.  Nose is 1/4″ with the top cut off.  Draw on the rest of the face.  Body is 1 1/4″ with the bottom cut off, feet 1/2″ circle and tail is 2-Step Bird Punch.  Add lion to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting using Rotary Alphabet Stamp using Memento Black on So Saffron.  Cut into Banner and add to card front.
  • Add 1/2″ Basic Black Circle and 1/4″ Delightful Dijon Circle to the card front to finish off.
Set(s): Alphabet Rotary Stamp
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Delightful Dijon, So Saffron, Cherry on Top dsp Paper Stack
Ink: Delightful Dijon, Memento Black
Other: Pansy Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, 1/4″ Hole Punch.  2-Step Bird Punch, Project Life Corner Punch, Dimensionals

Butterfly Basics

SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop!  Each of the design team members is taking turns suggesting a theme and Debbie picked the theme of Watercolor Wash!  What a fun technique

If you are going forward in the hop you arrived here from my friend and partner Connie Babbert and her Inkspired Treasures blog.  She always has such GREAT cards!

Sat Hop

This was such fun to do.  Instead of ‘washing’ a color for the background, I took the watercolor paper, used my aquapainter to wet it, then stamped the fern using Wild Wasabi.  Then I took my aquapainter again and colored over it with water to give it that washed out look.  Then while it was still wet, I stamped again using the Wild Wasabi and just let it spread without adding more water.

Here’s the detials

  • Pear Pizzazz – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Watercolor paper – 3 5/8 x 5 1/2.  Do like I said above wetting the paper stamping, using the aquapainter etc.
  • Blackberry Bliss dsp (from the Incolor paper stack) – 3/4 x 5 1/2.  Add behind the watercolor panel then add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Mossy Meadow – 1 1/8 x 3 1/4.  Stamp greeting using Versamark and white emboss.  Cut into a banner and add using dimensionals.
  • Stamp small butterfly 3 times using Blackberry Bliss, punch with bitty butterfly and add to card front.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.
Set(s): Butterfly Basic
Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow, Incolor dsp Paper Stack, Watercolor paper
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Blackberry Bliss, Versamark
Other: White Embossing Powder, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals
