Definitely Dahlia

SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop! Each of the design team members is taking turns suggesting a theme and this month we are doing Folds.  Deb Currier is up this week and she picked the Tunnel card..  If you are going forward in the hop you arrived here from Connie Babbert’s Inkspired Treasures blog.  I always LOVE what she does!

I have never made one of these and it wasn’t that difficult…lots more steps than I’m use to doing on a card but do love the way it turned out!  Here’s the outside of my card…

TunnelCardClosedDon’t you just LOVE the new Definitely Dahlia stamp?  This was one of my very first ‘must have’ stamps from the new catalog.  I just LOVE it and there is so much you can do with it.

Here’s the details for the front of card…

  • Blushing Bride – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded (note:  before folding, stamp the greeting that will be on the inside – see directions below)
  • Very Vanilla – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, run through the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder and add to Basic Black – 3 3/4 x 5.  Add to card front using dimensionals (once you have stamped inside of card and folded)
  • Timeless Elegance dsp – 1 1/2 x 3 5/8, add to panel.
  • Stamp Definitely Dahlia using Blushing Bride on Very Vanilla, cut out and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Very Vanilla – 1 1/4 x 3 3/4, stamp greeting (Birthday Blossoms) using Memento Black, stamp again on Blushing Bride.  Cut out the banner and add to greeting.  Cut piece into a banner and add to card front
  • Stamp flowers using Memento Black on Blushing Bride, cut out and add to banner.

And now for the inside, here’s the picture…

TunnelCardOpen

Here’s the details…

  • Blushing Bride dsp (Subtles paper pack) – 8 1/4 x 5 1/4, score along the 8 1/4 side at 2, 4 1/8. 6 1/4, cut out the window using the largest Tags and Labels Framelits.
  • Timeless Elegance – 3 3/4 x 3 (same print as the front), sut out the window using the next to largest Tags and Labels Framelits.
  • Lay this piece centered on the inside of the card and stamp greeting using Memento Black and the fold card in half.  This helps to reduce the bulk of the card by not adding an extra layer inside.
  • Fold the Blushing Bride dsp (valley folds on the ends, mountain fold in the center), add ends to inside card.
  • Timeless Elegance – 3/8 x 5 1/4, add to ends
  • Stamp the flower stamp twice on Blushing Bride using Memento Black, add highlights using Blushing Bride marker and color centers using Smoky Slate. Cut out and add to inside card to finish off.

How fun is that?  Really not that difficult of a card but makes the inside special for someone special!

Set(s): Definitely Dahlia, Birthday Blossom
Paper: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Subtles dsp Paper Pack, Timeless Elegance dsp
Ink: Memento Black, Blushing Bride
Other: Tags & Labels Framelits, Elegant Dots Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

And speaking of someone special, now it is time to head over to Nicole Tugrul Be Creative with Nicole site and see the special card you made!

Sprinkles on Top

CCMC362Woo Hoo…it’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and we have a GREAT color challenge for you:  Real Red, Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake or Kraft…I decided to go with Kraft … yep… it’s in there!  No..really it is!

I decided with these colors and the the 4th going this weekend, I decided to go with a bit of a patriotic theme…nothing like some stars this time of year!  You could easily change the greeting and it could be to celebrate the 4th!

Here’s the details –

  • Lost Lagoon – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 4 1/2, run the top 2/3 through the Lucky Stars embossing folder, stamp greeting in Memento Black, layer on Kraft 3 3/8 x 4 5/8.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Real Red – punch out 3 stars using the Medium Star punch, ad to card front.
  • Lost Lagoon – smallest star framelit – cut out 2 and add using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.
Set(s): Sprinkles on Top
Paper: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Real Red

Gorgeous Grunge

CC537There’s a fun color challenge on SCS today – Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Hello Honey.  Also the Try a New Technique Challenge from yesterday was something I’ve been wanting to do.  So I put them together and came up with this.

It’s a little tough to see on the picture (click on the picture to make it larger) but the Hello is cut out of the stamped background piece then raise up on stacks of the hello.  It’s a very subtle look but cool!

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, stamp the larger image in Watermelon Wonder, the dot image in Cucumber Crush and the small scatter dot in Hello Honey.
  • Cut out Hello from this panel (save the ‘inside the loop’ pieces too).  NOTE:  I added a piece of the transfer adhesive to the back of this panel before cutting out to make it easier to adhere the hello.
  • Add panel to Watermelon Wonder 5 1/8 x 3 7/8.  Add the ‘loopy’ piece where they belong.
  • Cut out Hello 4 times in Whisper White (again I had the transfer adhesive on the back), layer and add the stamped hello on top.
  • Add stacked hello to card front.
  • Tie piece of Cucumber Crush 1″ Lace Ribbon to top of panel, add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.

How cool is that?  And speaking of cool…

Definitely Dahlia

CAS331There is a super simple sketch for the CAS challenge on SCS today and since I had a couple of minutes I decided it would be fun to play along.

This is one of those 5 minute cards…that’s about how long it takes to make it!  LOL!!!  LOVE those – fun and quick!

For quick cards you really can’t beat the new Definitely Dahlia background stamp!  LOVE IT!!!  It was one of my ‘must have’ stamps from my first order and I’m so glad I got it.  You can’t go wrong with this for quick and stunning cards!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, stamp Dahlia using Daffodil Delight.  Add to card base using dimensionals
  • Basic Black, cut Hello form the Hello You framelits, add to card front.  NOTE:  I didn’t totally tack down the Hello – gives it a little dimension.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.

Yep…that’s all there is!

Don’t forget…there is still time to sign up for Create with Connie and Mary LIVE on July 11th and we would LOVE to have you join us.  Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ of the projects we will be doing…

Sprinkles of Life

TSSC366Okay before I get into this first I have to say I LOVE this card!  Seriously…it was just so much fun to make and LOVE the colors.  The second thing I have to say is that it sort of took a DETOUR a bit from the Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge sketch.  Pretty much the elements are there, but things sort of moved around a bit.

I remember working with another very talented stamper on the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and sometimes when I saw her cards and looked at the sketch I would just scratch my head and she would say…the sketch is an inspiration and who knows where it will take you.  Well…that sort of happened here.  I saw the sketch and as I worked on it, this is where it took me!  LOL!!!  I LOVE it!  (Did I mention that yet?)

Here’s the details –

  • Pool Party – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 x 2 1/2
  • Watermelon Wonder Envelope paper – 1 x 4, add to bottom of Whisper White Piece, stamp greeting on Whisper White using Memento Black.
  • Cut three strips of dsp each 1 1/8 width from the Cherry on Top dsp.  I did 1 1/8 x 1 3/4, 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 and 1 1/8 x 1 1/4.  Add behind panel then add to card front.
  • Stamp cone on Crumb Cake using Memento Black and cut out.  Stamp ‘ice cream’ in Memento Black on Pool Party, Whisper White, Watermelon Wonder.  Layer the ice cream onto the cone then add to card front using dimensionals.

TSSC366If you look closely you will see that I pretty much did use all the elements on my card…just not in the same layout.  I hope that that you join our challenge!    Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

Build a Birthday

CardClass3Here is the last card I did for my June Card Class.  The Build a Birthday set is so good for making candles and I just love the colors in the Cherry on the Top dsp.  I think I probably like using this set for candles more than I like using the images to make a cake!  They are just so fun!

I think this is just a fun birthday card.  It would make anyone happy to get it and definitely is reason to celebrate!

Here’s the details…

  • Bermuda Bay – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, run through the Large Dotted Embossing Folder and layer on Basic Black 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 and add to card front on an angle using dimensionals.
  • Add banner from print from Cherry on the Top dsp pack 3/4 x 3
  • Stamp candles using Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Bermuda Bay and flowers using Crushed Curry, cut out and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Crushed Curry – 3/4 x 2 3/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into a banner and add using dimensionals.

Don’t forget…there is still time to sign up for Create with Connie and Mary LIVE on July 11th and we would LOVE to have you join us.  Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ of the projects we will be doing…
