1 Card – 3 Ways

Now…I am sure this NEVER happens to you…you sit down to make something and you have something very specific in mind and when you are done…well, you sort or took a left at your stampin’ desk!  Today I sat down to make a card for the casology challenge – wings.  When I finished…it looked like this…

dragonfly2

Now don’t get me wrong…LOVE IT!  But it was NOT the card I set out to make!  So I decided to make the one I set out to make and I came up with this…

dragonfly1

So…funny thing about this card…LOVE IT…but STILL not the card I set out to make.  Well…you know what they say…3rd time’s the charm and here’s my third card…

dragonfly3Now we’re talking…THIS is the card I had intended to make when I started out this morning!  Really all the components are pretty much the same…

  • Base card (either Perfect Plum or Whisper White) – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Layer (either Perfect Plum or Whisper White) – 3 7/8 x 3 7/8.  Top two run completely through the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder, last one only the top 2/3.  Add using dimensionals.
  • Strips – first one Silver glimmer – 5/8 x 3 7/8 an 3/8 x 3 7/8, second one Mint Macaron – two strips 1/4 x 3 7/8, and third one 1/4 x 3 7/8.
  • Cut two different sized Lots of Labels from Whisper White, stamp splatter in Mint Macaron and greeting in Night of Navy, later using dimensionals and add using dimensionals.
  • Stamp dragonfly using Perfect Plum on Whisper White, cut out and add to card fronts.
  • For third card, add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.

So…which one is YOUR favorite???

Irresistible!

Summer15HopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop where the FABULOUS designers pick a theme and we each off a project based on that theme.  This week our theme is RESIST – either the resist technique or the Color Me Irresistible dsp!

Okay…before I share my cards I have to admit I completely and totally lost track of what day it was so at 10 pm on Friday evening I’m frantically making my card.  I’ve been SOOOO busy with school I simply lost a day.  But the good news is that I have finished up the computer work on TWO of my 5 classes I have to do (and I’m helping a friend with hers so that is 6).  They take so much time and concentration that once I start one thing…I have to work it through until the end.

So here it was 10 pm last night and I realized I NEED A CARD – OH NO!!!  Well I ended up making two because I just couldn’t figure out what to do!  (Made toooo many decisions working on my courses – LOL!!!)

So…card 1…

Resist 1Okay…this turn out sort of fun!  I cut the dsp into large chevrons, added the ink and created my card.  Here’s the details

  • Daffodil Delight – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, layer onto Basic Black 4 x 5 1/4 and add to card base.
  • Color Me Irresistible – cut three chevrons – 3 1/2 wide – one is 1 1/4, one is 3/4 and the last is 3/8.  Color thickest using Calypso Coral, middle with Daffodil Delight and thinnest with Bermuda Bay.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp balloon 3 times using Memento Black on Whisper White and then the banner on Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay, cut out, layer and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Color some Perfect White accents using black sharpie and add to card front to finish off.

So…then I wasn’t sure if I liked that so I made a second card…

Resist 2When making a card I don’t like using a lot of different sets on it (an this uses three) but it is a fun card too.  Here’s the details…

  • Pumpkin Pie – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Color Me Irresistible – 1 1/2 x 5 1/2, stamp larger splatter in Pumpkin Pie, smaller one in Real Red and very small splatter in Memento Black.  Add to card front.
  • Pumpkin Pie – 3 1/4  5 1/2, stamp greeting using Memento Black, add strip of Basic Black 1/2 x 5 1/2 behind it and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp dragonfly on Whisper White in Real Red and Memento Black, cut out and add to card front.
  • Add Perfect White Accents.

So…that’s my two cards

Set(s): Sweet Stack, Awesomely Artistic, Gorgeous Grunge, Happy Birthday Everyone
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Color Me Irresistible dsp

They are just sooo ‘irresistible!  We’ve change the way to get from one blog to the next to use the buttons below to go either backward (previous) to the Create site or forward (next) to the very talented Nicole Tugrul.

I Think You’re Great

CCMC365Boy…time sure does FLY by and I can’t believe it is already Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday challenge.  This week we have a fun, and simple, sketch for you.

You know the funny thing about this sketch is that pretty much everyone on the design team followed it pretty closely using either the oval or the circle.  Meanwhile I (who actually designed this sketch) didn’t!  Funny how that works out sometimes!

Here’s the details –

  • Bermuda Bay – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Bermuda Bay – 3 3/4 x 5, run through the Boho Chic Embossing folder and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Gold Glimmer – 1/8 x 3 3/4, add to card front
  • Boho dsp – 1 3/4 x 3 1/2, cut in to a banner and add using dimensionals
  • Gold Glimmer – cut out 3rd to smallest star and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting on Very Vanilla using Blackberry Bliss, cut out and add using dimensionals.

Yep…a VERY quick and easy card…my favorite kind!

MNTOh…what an easy theme we have for the SUO challenge this time…it’s your favorite new stamp set.

This was another of my ‘must have’ stamp sets with my first order and then did I play with it????  NO!!!!  So I really wanted to play with it, I REALLY needed a make and take for a group of wonderful ladies AND I needed to do my SUO challenge card so I put them all together and this is what I got…so quick and easy and a GREAT way to showcase this set!

  • Mint Macaron – 3 3/4 x 5, run top 2/3 through the Elegant Dots Embossing folder.

Definitely Dahlia

CFSwap

Happy Monday everyone!  Do you LOVE the Definitely Dahlia background stamp?  I know that I do!  It was one of my ‘must have’ stamps on my first order and have had such a good time using it.

Okay…a little confession here (they say it is good for the heart)…this is Control Freak swap card.  Now that is NOT the confession part.  The confession part is I sort of lost track of time and realized I needed to get a card done RIGHT AWAY to get it mailed on time (this was the beginning of July).  Since I needed something fast, I decided to design my card around the Definitely Dahlia stamp so it would go together quickly.  Even though it was a ‘quick’ card…I think it turned out cool!

Here’s the details…

  • Basic Black – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Very Vanilla – 3 3/4 x 5, add to card base on an angle.
  • Kraft – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, stamp Dahlia using Veramark and white emboss.  Rub Crumb Cake in over image.
  • Timeless Elegance dsp – 5/8 x 3 1/2, cut into a banner and add to card front.
  • Very Vanilla – 5/8 x 3 1/2, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into a banner and add to card front
  • Punch out little flower (Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack) – Basic Black and Kraft, add to card front
  • Add Basic Pearl to center of each flower to finish it off.

Metallica

Summer15HopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the NEW look for Create with Connie and Mary!  With our NEW look comes our NEW Mini-Sessions and another GREAT Saturday Hop!  This week our theme is ‘Metallica’ – using the gold or silver foil materials.

Okay…you might say I went a little ‘overboard’ on this challenge!  As I sat down to think about what to make, my first thought was the fun gold vellum and making a little favor.  it just sort kept growing after that!  Here’s what I did…

GoldGiftBag

How fun (and easy) this is!  Here’s the detail…

  • Gold Foil Vellum dotted – 10 x 6.  Use the Gift Bag Punch board and make as per directions – it’s pretty easy.  Put the bag together.
  • Tie the bag closed using Gold 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon.
  • Gold Foil – 1 x 3 1/2, cut into a banner
  • Whisper White – 7/8 x 3 1/4, stamp greeting (Sprinkles on Top) using Versamark, gold emboss, cut into a banner.
  • Layer the two banners together and add to bag front.
  • Stamp the balloon from Sweet Stack on Whisper White using Veramark, gold emboss, cut out and add to card front using dimensionals.
Set(s): Sprinkles on Top, Sweet Stack
Paper: Whisper White, Gold Foil, Gold Foil Vellum
Ink: Versamark
Other: Gift Bag Punch Board, Gold 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Gold Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

What a fun a little favor and yep…I think I met the challenge of Metallica!  We’ve change the way to get from one blog to the next to use the buttons below to go either backward (previous) to the Create site or forward (next) to the very talented Nicole Tugrul.
