Watercolor Winter

Dec Crew 001It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  We actually had a little snow on outside this morning when we woke up.  Today I need to get some running around done.  At least I finally got my Christmas cards finished and mailed yesterday.

Trying to get some of the cards I made ‘early’ posted on my blog before the holiday os over!  This was a card I made for the December Creative Crew on SCS.  The challenge was to incorporate newsprint/book print in your card.  The base of the card is Riding Hood Red,  I took a piece of the First Edition, stamped the outline poinsettia in Basic Black and the more solid image in Riding Hood Red.  I layered this on Basic Black then to the card front.  Next I took a piece of Lucky Limeade, cut into a banner, ran it through the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder, added a piece of Champagne Glimmer paper then added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting in Lucky Limeade, punched with the Decorative Label punch and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped an additional flower on the newsprint – I did one in Riding Hood Red and one in Lucky Limeade (for the leaves), cute them out and layered onto the card front using dimensionals.  I finished it off by coloring some Basic Pearls with the Gold Glimmer pen and adding to the center of the poinsettia.

Gee…what will I post once Christmas is over?  Oh…that’s right…NEW STUFF!!!

CAS 201 001The CAS challenge is a very pretty Christmas photo that has lovely country candles on it.  I do not have any Christmas style candle images to use but went instead with the feel of the photo (which for me was the Peace on Earth) and the greenery and berries.  I kept my card very simple with the holly and berry sprigs and a simple label.

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Very Vanilla.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla and added to the card base using dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting in Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke, punched with the Decorative Label and added using dimensionals.  Next I stamped the outline image using StazOn JetBlack and then the colored in parts using Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red.  I cut these out (yes, I am crazy!) and added to the card front to finish it off.

Watercolor Winter

Just so you all know…I had NO INTENTION of BUYING THIS SET!  But then my friend Connie started sharing soooo many cute cards with this that okay, I CAVED!!!  LOL!!!  Now, you all know that I LOVE pink snowflakes right?  Well, the other thing…I LOVE blue poinsettias!  I know…I have issues.

This is for the 400th color challenge on SCS.  There were three different color combos to pick from and since I was wanting to do some blue poinsettias well, it was a no brainer for me…LOL!!!  This STARTED as a card for Mojo Monday, but the sketch was just too fussy for me so I just used things laying on top of my desk.  (HINT:  if you NEVER put things away…you ALWAYS have PLENTY to work with…LOL!!!)

Okay…details…base of the card is Lucky Limeade.  Next are banners in Silver Glimmer and Island Indigo polka dots.  The Very Vanilla panel is the Window Framelit with the edges cut off and the sentiment stamped using, well, you guessed it, Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo.  This is added using dimensionals.  The poinsettias are outlined with Basic Grey, then inside is Island Indigo – full strength and stamped off once.  The ‘leave’ are again Basic Grey but with Lucky Limeade.  The lighter poinsettia is added using dimensionals.  To finish things off I added Basic Rhinestones in the centers of the poinsettias and along the bottom of the Very Vanilla panel.
