Fun with Reinkers

Happy August everyone!   This week we are getting to do something I haven’t done in awhile – reinker techniques!  Seriously…I don’t know when I played with just my reinkers and it took me a little bit to figure this one out.  I also decided to play with the new embossing paste on this!

How cool is this!  Here’s the details…

  • Peek-a-boo Peach – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Using the Reinker Smooch technique, take two pieces of acetate, to one piece of the acetate add drops of Flirty Flamingo, Peek-a-boo Peach, and Pool Party reinker, spritz with water, cover with the other one and ‘smooch’ the reinkers together, peel off the top piece of acetate and layer piece of Shimmery White (3 1/2 x 4 3/4) onto ink and press into the ink; peel back and let dry.
  • Use the one mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, lay on the inked piece and use the embossing paste covering as much as you want.  Let dry.  Once dry, layer onto Basic Grey – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Whisper White – punch out two daisies, layer.
  • Flirty Flamingo – punch out 3/4″ circle, add to center of flower using dimensional.
  • Add flower to card front
  • Pool Party – stamp banner and greeting using Basic Grey ink, punch out and add using dimensionals.

See…totally cool!  Hmmm…I’m going to have to do more of these…so much FUN!

Shaped Cards

This month is just speeding by isn’t it!  It’s time once again for the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop and this week our team is doing Shaped Cards!  This like this are always more difficult for me but I think I came up with a cool idea.

I was looking at my Naturally Eclectic dsp and my Eclectic Layers Thinlits and decided I could have some fun with a gem shaped card.  It ended up being much easier to make than I thought it would be.

Here’s the details…

  • Soft Sky – 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 folded.  The top part is measuring in 1 1/8 in and 1 1/8 down on both sides.  Once that is cut, mark over 2 1/8 along bottom and cut down on an angle from each side to create the diamond shape.  I played around to make my layers – one with the gem print then layer that onto Night of Navy.  Add to card front.
  • Whisper White – Cut out Stitched Circle Shape, add using dimensionals.
  • Night of Navy, Emerald Envy, Lemon Lime Twist – cut out bottom gem base; Silver Glimmer – cut out 3 gem details, layer and add to card front.
  • Soft Sky, stamp banner and greeting using Night of Navy, punch out with the Banner Duo punch, add to card front using dimensionals.

The Create with Connie and Mary July Mini Session is open and it is not too late to subscribe!

Our mini sessions include the instructions for 14 projects with full step-by-step tutorials:

  • Each mini session includes TWELVE unique cards featuring three stamp sets, and
  • Each mini session includes TWO 3D items perfect projects for your club, classes, stamp camps or gifts

falltreeDo you ever have an idea for a card in your mind and you just HAVE to make it?

I just love the Halloween Scenes edgelits and am sad that Halloween is over.  I wanted to find another way to use the fun tree in there and decided to pair the tree with a bunch of different sized circles and see what happened.  Personally I don’t like when the ‘leaves’ are just behind the tree so I did some different layering to get the look I wanted.

Here’s the details…

  • Cajun Craze – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Cajun/Mint print – 5/8 x 5 1/2, cut two add one to the left side of the card
  • Whisper White – 2 3/4 x 5 1/2, run the top 3/4 through the Seaside Embossing Folder, add the second piece of the Cajun/Mint print behind the left side and add to card front
  • Basic Black – 2 3/4 x 3 1/4, cut out tree
  • Cajun/Mint print – 1 3/4 circle, Mint Macaron – 1 1/2 and 1 circles, Cajun Craze – two 1 1/4 circles, layer these together BEHIND the tree then add tree to card front using dimensionals
  • Garden Green – two 3/4″ circles, Cajun Craze – three 1/2″ circles, and Gold Foil – four 1/2″ circles, add these to the FRONT of the tree
  • Mint Macaron – stamp banner and greeting using Momento Black, Punch with the Duet Banner punch, add using dimensionals

All Kinds of Weather

img_3340Happy Tuesday Everyone!  It’s time for another SUO Challenge and the challenge this time was ‘all kinds of weather’. Hmmm…. what to do …what to do!

Originally I was going to use the umbrella set or my sunburst thinlet – those seem pretty straight forward but over the weekend I was stamping with some friends (hi Jo and Jackie!) and made this card and decided it was perfect, although a bit different, for the challenge.  Now you might wonder how this fits into the All Kinds of Weather theme.  Well…If you look carefully at the background you will see I used the Seaside Embossing Folder.  To me, when used like this is reminds me of wind so my card is ‘windy weather’.

Here’s the details…

  • Pumpkin Pie – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run the top part (about 3/4 or a little more) through the Seaside Embossing Folder
  • Kraft – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, later Whisper White panel on it and add to card front
  • Basic Black – cut out tree from Halloween Scenes edgelits, add to card front
  • Kraft – cut out fence from Halloween Scenes edgelits, stamp greeting using Momento Black, add fence to card front using dimensionals
  • Punch out 1 3/8″ Circle from Daffodil Delight, add under tree
  • Stamp pumpkins using Momento Black, color using Pumpkin Pie, cut out using matching framelit, add to card front using dimensionals.

Oh how fun! Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

SUO150Hello everyone!  It is time for another FUN challenge for the SUO challenge team.  This time our very talented design team is taking on ‘Summer Celebrations’.

Well…as soon as I saw the challenge I thought of Independence Day (July 4th) and KNEW I was going to use the wavy lines of the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits as a sort of ‘flag’ look so that is what I went with!

I thought this turned out to be a nice CAS (clean and simple) card.  Although it LOOKS like it is a tall and skinny card it really is a normal size one because of the ‘hangy over’ pieces.

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 5 1/4, run the top 2/3s though the Star Embossing Folder and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Real Red – cut out the wavy lines from the Swirly Scribbles thinlit, trim to 4 1/4 and add to card front hanging over the edges
  • Silver Glimmer – cut our star, add using dimensionals
  • Dappy Denim – put out star frame, add using dimensionals
  • Dappy Denim – stamp frame using Versamark and white emboss, stamp greeting using Versamark and white emboss, cut out (I don’t have the new punch) and add using Dimensionals

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Thoughtful Banners
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Dapper Denim, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Versamark
Other: Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Star Framelits, Stars Embossing Folder, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals
