Special Reason

Okay…I have a little secret to share.  With us packing up our house and moving, I had to do a bunch of stamping to make sure that I had things to post on my blog while all my ‘stuff’ was still packed away in boxes.  So I stamped and I stamped and I stamped and I stamped.  Then I stamped some more!

I had EVERY POST for the month of April designed, stamped and posts written up and scheduled by April 1st…NO FOOLIN’!  But it was really nice not having to worry about them and to take my time setting up my craft area so I’d be ready to start in again for May!

I just LOVE the Special Reason set and wanted to have some fun with is.  Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Blooms & Bliss dsp – 6 strips 5/8 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, cut out large circle using Layering Circles framelit, stamp greeting using Rich Razzleberry, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – cut out large flower and two large leaves; add flower using dimensionals (little teeny, tiny pieces of dimensionals that is) and add leaves
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off

This one really is fun and can be done just using any scraps!

Set(s): Special Reason
Paper: Whisper White, Blooms & Bliss dsp
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Other: Stylish Stems Thinlits, Layering Circles Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Special Reason

So life right now is just a bit complex.  We just purchased a new home and are in the process of moving.  We aren’t just moving, we are downsizing…it’s complex.

But the SUO challenge theme this month is simple – sympathy and caring.  The With Sympathy stamp from Flourishing Phrases is so beautiful and I wanted to pair it with Special Reason.  This is what I came up with.

Here’s the details…

  • So Saffron – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – stamp greeting using Crumb Cake
  • 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – fold in loops stapling loops together, add to card front
  • Whisper White – stamp flower using So Saffron and leaves in Crumb Cake, cut out and add to car front using dimensionals
  • Crumb Cake – cut out flower center using framelit, sponge Crumb Cake around edges and add to center of flower

I just love the simple look of this.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Special Reason, Flourishing Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, So Saffron
Ink: Crumb Cake, So Saffron
Other: Stylish Stems Thinlet Dies, 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, Hand Held Stapler, Dimensionals

Special Reason

I soooo like this new set – Special Reason.  The flowers are just such a cool shape and with the Stylish Stems thinlets, you get so many options for using this.

This week the inspiration for Create with Connie and Mary is a cool color combo – So Saffron, Sweet Sugarplum and Mint Macaron.

I was going through my dsp looking for something I could use and found some prints in the So Succulent dsp that would work.  So I started with that and built my card front there.

Here’s the details…

  • So Saffron – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Sweet Sugarplum Gingham print – 1 1/2 x 4 1/2, add to card front
  • Mint Succulent print – 3/4 x 4 1/2, ad to card front
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/4 x 4, cut on angles and add to card front
  • Whisper White – cut out largest Stitched Oval, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – stamp large flower in So Saffron, small flower in Sweet Sugarplum and large and small leaves in Mint Macaron, cut all out, layer and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 2, stamp greeting using Basic Grey Archival, cut into a banner on both ends, add using dimensionals
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off

Special Reason

pp331I LOVE this set!  No…really I do!  It is one of the coolest looking flowers and I just LOVE flowers.

I’ve been fighting bronchitis the last couple of weeks (I think it is winning) and this weekend I needed to get caught up on some cards to post and put together some make and takes for my craft group.  I decided that I’d just have my cards do double purpose!

We did this card last night and the ladies just loved it.  The cool thing is you can flip it and it looks just as nice!  I decided to use the color challenge from The Paper Players for this.

Here’s the details…

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Blushing Bride – 3 3/4 x 5, run through the Falling Petals Embossing folder and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Add Vanilla side of Lace Doily
  • Copper Foil – 3/4 x 4, cut into banner, add to card front
  • Smoky Slate – 1/4 x 4 1/8, cut ends on diagonal, add to card front
  • Very Vanilla – punch out 2″ circle, stamp greeting in Smoky Slate, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Very Vanilla – stamp small flower in Blushing Bride, cut out with framelit
  • Small open leaf – cut out in Copper Foil and Smoky Slate, add behind flower and add to card front to finish it off

What a different color combo…just LOVED it!

I LOVE the Special Reason set and matching thinlits…the flowers are just so awesome!  I decided to keep things nice and simple.  And I just love soft pink flowers.  It’s hard to see from the picture but I used vellum behind flower and sponged the pink on there so I could have different shades of pink.
