Flurry of Wishes

SUO139Happy new year everyone!  And a happy first SUO challenge of the new year!

So I had a bit of a dilemma on this one….our theme is Wintertime but it is time for the SPRING (Occasions) Mini!  Fortunately both of these sets (Flurry of Wishes – snowflakes and Snow Place – greeting) are both showing as carried over in the new mini!  WHEW!!!

So for our Wintertime theme, I wanted to keep it clean and simple but make it ‘bright and happy’…because usual winter…at least here in Ohio is anything BUT bright!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White THICK – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, stamp second to largest snowflake in Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo, stamp greeting in Basic Black Archival.  Next ‘fill in; the snowflakes with the Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo marker.  (click on the picture for the larger view so you can see this)
  • Add to card front using dimensionals
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off!

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Flurry of Wishes, Snow Place

Snow Place

LetItSnowThis is a little bit of ‘old meets new’.  I was looking at this GORGEOUS snowflake print from the Season of Cheer dsp but I REALLY wanted to play with my new ‘A Nice Cuppa’ set.  Well, I decided to put the two of them together and this is what I came up with.  I have to say that I like the way it turned out.

One of my favorite things about the cut framelits is that GREAT little steam ‘heart’!  Isn’t it just THE CUTEST?

Here’s the details…

  • Night of Navy – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Snowflake print (Season of Cheer dsp) – 3 x 5 1/2, add to card front
  • Blushing Bride – 3/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – cut out 3 1/4″ circle using circle framelits, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp cup using Blushing Bride, cut out using framelit, add using dimensionals
  • Cut out ‘steam heart’ from Real Red and add to card front
  • Cut out snowflake (Square Pillow Box thinlet) from Night of Navy and add to cup
  • Punch out heart (2-step owl punch) from Real Red add to center of snowflake
  • Real Red – 5/8 x 3 1/4, stamp greeting (Snow Place) using Versamark, white emboss, cut into banner, add using dimensionals.

Isn’t that a FUN card?  I just LOVE it!

SUO137Yep…time for another SUO challenge!  We have a fun one this time to make a card (or gift) for a kid.  I guess you can tell I well with the ‘card’ part of the theme – LOL!!!

Okay…now before I get to my card…I have a little rant.  I REALLY like the Wonderland set but WHAT THE HECK do DEAD DEER ANTLERS have to do with ‘silent night’ and ‘all is calm, all is bright’?  NOT FOR THE DEER!  I really put off buying this set for not other reason than WHOEVER thought that ‘fit’ didn’t quite get it.  But I DO LOVE the trees (and I’m a sucker for trees).  Anyway I did see the DEAD DEER ANTLERS used to make an ADORABLE penguin Rudolph so…okay…why not.  BUT REALLY…DEAD DEER ANTLERS and ‘all is calm, all is bright’?  GEEZ!!!

Okay…rant over…here’s the details…

  • Mossy Meadow – 3 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp snowflakes using Mossy Meadow
  • Cherry Cobbler – 7/8 x 4 1/4, cut two and add to card front.  These make the card a ‘standard’ sized card even though it ‘looks’ tall and skinny
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, stamp penguin using Basic Black Archival, stamp DEAD DEAR ANTLERS using Chocolate Chip, color feet using Hello Honey, add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Cut “jolly” out 3 times from Cherry Cobbler, layer and add using fine tip glue pen
  • Stamp holly using Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler (okay…had an extra one sitting on my desk!) add to jolly
  • Add Cherry Cobbler Home for Christmas Enamel dot to make ‘Rudolph’s’ nose
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to snowflakes to finish it off.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Snow Place, Wonderland
Paper: Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Basic Black Archival, Chocolate Chip, Hello Honey

WI15SatHopWelcome

Well…we have finished up the Christmas card challenges we had for the design team and now we are one to other fun Christmas ‘stuff’!  This week the challenge for our team is to make a Christmas Favor or Treat!

ChristmasCoco

On of my favorite ‘treats’ to give someone this time of year is hot coco (with a peppermint Ghirardelli chocolate square.  Of course an added candy cane is good too!  So I was trying to figure out something EASY to do (we just finished up our last week of school and next week is finals week…need EASY!!) and I noticed that these fun little bags look like they have snowballs on it so … yep … EASY!  Oh and this EASILY holds 2 hot chocolate packets and 2 Ghirardelli peppermint squares.

Here’s the details…

  • Add the hot chocolate and peppermint chocolate squares to the bag, fold over the top and punch 2 holes using the 1/2″ circle punch, slide peppermint stick through holes.
  • Red Foil – 2 3/4 x 5, use largest Lots of Labels framelit to cut off end
  • Holly Print – Season of Cheer dsp – 2 3/8 x 4 1/2, use second to largest Lots of Labels framelit to cut off end, lay on top of Red Foil label and add to bag by sliding under flap.
  • Add large Gold Foil Doily using dimensionals
  • Stamp penguin using Basic Black Archival, add bow tie in Mossy Meadow, stamp Santa hat and candy cane using Real Red, ink holly using Mossy Meadow and Real Red markers, cut all out using framelits, layer together and add using dimensionals

It would be sooooo easy to make up a bunch of these as quick last minute gifts to have on hand!

This was a card we made in my November Christmas Card Class.  I like the fun look of the Bermuda Bay with a ‘pop’ of Real Red in there.  I also like the added little Rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes on the base of the card.  It just gives the card just that ‘little extra’.

  • Basic Black – 2 7/8 x 4 3/8

  • Basic Black – 3/4 x 1 3/4, cut into banner
  • Bermuda Bay print (Cherry on Top dsp Paper Stack) – 3/4 x 1 1/4, cut into banner, layer on top of Real Red banner, add to Whisper White panel, trim.  Add panel to Basic Black piece and add to card front using dimensionals

Snow Place

SUO136It’s time again for another SUO challenge and this time our theme is ‘Holiday’ Colors.  Now this time of your ‘holiday’ can be Thanksgiving or Christmas.  Well I decided to go with the ‘Christmas’ Holiday colors!

I was going through one of my packs of dsp and found this FABULOUS holly paper.  Since our ONLY holly stamp is the little teeny tiny one in the Snow Place set, I decided to keep it nice and simple.  So my ‘Holiday’ colors are Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow with a touch of gold!

Here’s the details…

  • Cherry Cobbler – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Mossy Meadow – 1/2 x 4 1/4, add to right side of card front
  • Holly print (Season of Cheer dsp) – 1 3/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Gold Foil – 1/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 2 x 4, punch one end with Scallop Tag Topper, use Corner Round on the other end, stamp greeting using Mossy Meadow
  • Gold Foil – cut two 1 1/2 x 1/2, slide into tag slot, secure on back and trim
  • Add tag to care front using dimensionals
  • Stamp Santa hat in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White, ink holly with Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler, cut out with matching framelits, layer holly on hat, add to tag using dimensionals

I just LOVE quick and easy cards!

Snow Place

CFSwapYou know…I was looking through my posts and realized that I never posted my card from the Control Freak Holiday Mini swap!  Can you believe it!

I had decided to use the Snow Place set and matching Framelits for my swap.  I love that with the paper stack you can easily do multiples of cards since you have extra of the prints in the pack.  That made it REALLY easy for me to do a bunch of these!

  • Old Olive – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8

  • Olive/White Ornament print – 2 x 4, add to card front
  • Cherry Cobbler/Crumb Cake print – 2 x 4, add to card front
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/2 x 3, cut into banner, add to card front
  • Stamp Penguin/Basic Black Archival, scarf/Cherry Cobbler, earmuffs/Old Olive, cut everything out using matching framelits, color beak and feet using Pumpkin Pie, put everything together and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 2 1/4, stamp greeting using Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler, cut into banner, add using dimensionals
  • Add Winter Wonderland Embellishment to finish it off.
