Petal Parade

CCMC294I couldn’t resist using this fun SAB set with the YUMMY colors in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge this week.

I haven’t really played with this set much and the colors for the challenge (Strawberry Slush, Old Olive, Basic Black) just seemed like a perfect combo for this fun set!

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Stamp the scallop edge in Basic Black, the leafy image in Old Olive and greetin in Strawberry Slush.  Now to the Chevron image in Strawberry Slush and Basic Black.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp the flower in Strawberry Slush and the leafy image in Old Olive, cut out.  Add the leafy image to the card front and the flower using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones under the greeting.

The design team did a great job with this color challenge so check it out!

Simple Stems

CAS259I had a little time this morning (before getting down to some SERIOUS grading) and thought the CAS challenge on SCS looked like fun.  It’s a sketch challenge based on p 37 of our SU catalog.  I thought it would be fun to play along.

This really is an easy card but the switching out of the colors for the greeting was a bit time consuming.  Of course I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure things were nice and straight and lined up.  What can I say…I have issues!

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded.  Use envelope punch board to round bottom left corner
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5.  Again use envelope punch board to round bottom left corner
  • Stamp greeting (six-sided sampler using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay.
  • Add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp flower and leaf/stem using basic black.  I colored in the leaves using Basic Black marker.  Cut out and add using dimensionals.

Yep…it’s as simple as that.

Festive Flurry

CAS SnowflakeI’m soooo excited to be a Guest Designer for the LAST of the All-Star Holiday Season.  For the past several months the CAS Design Team Alumni have been ‘back in action’ helping out.  This week is the last week and my last time as a Guest Designer.  I do just LOVE the CAS challenges!

The theme for this challenge is snowflakes.  Although the SU Holiday Mini is over, you can still get the Festive Flurry stamp set and matching framelits so I decided to use that for my CAS card!  I did though decided to make it just a general winter card and my FAVORITE snowflake colors…pink and silver!  Yep…that REALLY is my VERY favorite!

Here’s the details:

  • Pink Pirouette – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White 4 1/4 x 4 1/2.
  • Stamp the greeting in Versamark and Silver Emboss.
  • Add a Silver Glimmer Scallop edge 4 1/4 x 3/4.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp snowflake using Versamark, Silver Emboss, cut out with matching Festive Flurry framelit, cut out snowflake from Pink Pirouette using same framelit.  Layer together using dimensionals, add to card front sing dimensionals.
  • Punch out middle Boho Blossoms flower in Pink Pirouette.  Add to center of snowflake.  Add Jumbo rhinestone to center to finish it off.

ValentineEditionBadgeAnd just like it’s not too late to get the Festive Flurry set and matching framelits, it’s not too late to subscribe to the Create with Connie and Mary Valentine Special Collection and get 4 exclusive ideas (2 card sets and 2 3D projects) using the Whole Lot of Love Valentine Collection from Stampin’ Up!  All 4 tutorials for only $5.95!

Tour de Freaks – July

freakwelcome2013

Welcome everyone to the July Tour de Freaks!  Because of the Stampin’ Up! Convention we are hopping a week later than usual but we are worth the wait!  If you are going forward through the hop you arrived here from Patty Bennett’s wonderful site – Patty’s Stamping Spot!  Weren’t those just wonderful?

Card1

I had already shared my convention Control Freak swaps so I have something else in store for you!  Oh…I just love the new Modern Medley dsp and wanted to showcase that this month.  I also spent A LOT of time playing with the hexagon punch (as you will see in my NEXT item) and thought I’d do a card to match my 3D.  This is a 6 1/2 x 3 1/4 card.  The base is Bermuda Bay.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla, layered on Basic Black and stamped my friend using Basic Black.  I took a piece of Real Red, cut into a banner and added to the panel. I added a Basic Black strip then wrapped a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon around it.  I added the panel to the card base.  Next I punched out three hexagons and added to the card using dimensionals.  Finally I made 3 flowers using the Boho Blossom Punch, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla, Real Red and a Basic Black Candy dot.  I added these to the hexagons using glue dots.

MaryOkay…now for my VERY favorite!  I made letters for my roommate and some special friends at convention (see my post tomorrow – Sunday – for these).  I loved them soooo much I decided to make one for myself.    For mine I decided to go with the Modern Medley.  I bought the wood letter at the big box store and spray painted it white.  I punched out a BUNCH of the hexagons and adhered to the letter using Modge Podge.  Once it was dry I added a layer of Modge Podge on top and then when THAT was dry I sprayed with Clear Acrylic sealer.  I made my BIG flower using the Fun Flowers die, Bermuda Bay, Modern Medley dsp, Real Red cardstock adhered to coaster board.  These were layered using dimensionals and I added a Basic Black button tied with Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  Then I made a bunch of little flowers using the Boho Blossom punch and the same as the flowers on my card.  I added these to the M using glue dots.  This is one of those items that is just sooo hard to get a good photo of and is MUCH cooler in real life!

Set(s): Six-Sided Sampler
Paper: Very Vanilla, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Basic Black, Modern Medley dsp
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Boho Blossom Punch, Fun Flowers Die, Coaster Board, Neutral Candy Dots, Neutral Buttons, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Hexagon Punch, Dimensionals

So now it’s time to head on to the next stop on the hop.  Next up is Julie Davison at Julie’s Stamping Spot.  She has such wonderful projects in store for you.

Flower Shop

CCMC258See…I told you that you would be seeing more of this fun Flower Shop set!  It’s Thursday so time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday challenge and this week it is bright and happy color combo!

This is one of the quick and easy cards!  The base of the card is Daffodil delight.  I took a piece of Whisper White, layered onto Night of Navy and added to the card base.  Next I punched a 2 1/2″ half circle from the new Daffodil Delight dsp (Brights dsp paper pack) and added to the card.  I took a strip of Melon Mambo, stamped my friend from the Six Sided Sampler set, cut into a banner and added to the card front.  Next I stamped the loopy flower using the new style Daffodil Delight pad and quickly covered in Clear Embossing Powder and embossed it.  I love with the new style pads if you move quickly you can emboss with them!  I punched with the Pansy Punch then punch another flower from Night of Navy.  I used two of the petals behind the flower as ‘leaves’.  Next I took a NEW Melon Mambo button and added it to the center of the flower using White Baker’s Twine.  I added the flower to the card front using dimensionals.
