Bloomin’ Marvelous

DSC00582WOW…it’s already the LAST DAY of February!  Where did it go?  The great thing about the end of February…we are that much closer to SPRING!!!  This week the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge is a fun sketch!

Well…you KNOW I love butterflies and you KNOW I love these colors so I put the two together!  The base of the card is Pool Party.  I took a piece of Whisper White, ran it through the Clouds Embossing Folder and layered it onto a piece of Basic Grey.  I made a ‘bow’ (click tutorial above to access my bow tutorial) using Daffodil Delight 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and an Island Indigo Designer Printed Brad, added an extra strip of ribbon than added to the panel, then to the card front using dimensionals.  I made three butterflies (So Saffron, Pool Party, Island Indigo) the larger butterfly is Elegant Butterfly Punch and the smaller one is stamped using the Bloomin’ Marvelous Butterfly, punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch, layered then added the ‘body/antenna’ using a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  I punched out 3 Postage stamps in Whisper White, added the Butterflies using glue dots then added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Island Indigo and Basic Grey, punched with the Postage Stamp Punch and added to the card front using dimensionals.

So check out what the design team did with the sketch by heading over to Create with Connie and Mary!

ICFlowerThe IC challenge for this week is from a site Designs by Lucinda.  I first became aware of her BEAUTIFUL ‘little pieces of art’ when I was working for the Alzheimer’s Associate.  Lucinda had a line of pins called ‘people pins’ and the Alzheimer’s Association was selling them as a fundraiser.  Okay…I have a FABULOUS collection (well…if you must know…9 of these pins!  I was clearing out some stuff and found my pins and wanted to look to see if Lucinda was still doing these.  She has such an incredible story of inspiration.  I’m sure you will find TONS of inspiration on her site.

ICFlower_BeeSo…I found this great pin (and I was going to link to it but it is now sold) so I’ve added it here and decided to use it for my inspiration.  I just took her incredible pin, made it from paper and put it on my card!  The base of the card is is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White and stamped the greeting using Island Indigo and Old Olive.  I added a panel of the clouds on top.  I made a ‘bow’ (click on tutorial tab above) using Pool Party Seam Binding and a green glimmer brad, added and extra piece of seam binding and added to the panel.  I added this to the card front using dimensionals.  Next I used my Blossom Party die.  The small flower is Pool Party, the middle one is Champagne Glimmer (yes, it is STILL available!), and then the large one is from a DSP print in the SAB set.  I sponged some Island Indigo on it and some Certainly Celery.  I like how it sort of looks like the pin.  Each layer of the flower is added using dimensionals.  For the leaves it is Certainly Celery and the one I pressed into Versamark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder on it.   The leaves are cut with the Little Leaves Sizzlit.  I added the flower to the card front.  But the pin had a bee and I needed one too so I stamped the bee from the Spring Sampler set using Stazon, colored with Daffodil Delight and added some Dazzling Details to the wings to finish it off.  Oh what a wonderful pin that inspired this card!

Set(s): Bloomin’ Marvelous, Spring Sampler
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Certainly Celery, Champagne Glimmer, Sycamore Street dsp
Ink: Island Indigo, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight, Versamark, StazOn Jet Black
Other: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Cloud Embossing Folder, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Blossom Party Die, Pool Party Seam Binding, Bright Glimmer Brads, Dazzling Details, Dimensionals

The base of the card is Crumb Cake.  I took another piece of Crumb Cake, ran it through the Clouds Embossing Folder and added to the card front.  I took the YUMMY Black/Grey duo ribbon and tied around the card.  I stamped the ferris wheel using Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla, celebrate in Basic Black, layered the panel onto another Very Vanilla piece then the card front using dimensionals.  WOW…how simple!

I have been LOVIN’ the new Swallowtail background stamp.  I did not get it my first round of buying ‘stuff’ from the new mini and really didn’t have any plans for getting it.  Well, changed my mind and I LOVE IT!

Some quick notes before heading to bed…the base of the card is Crumb Cake.  I took a piece of Natural Cream, stamped the butterfly in Crumb Cake, layered onto Basic Black then added to the card base using dimensionals.  Next I took a strip of the Basic Black striped, cut into a banner and added a Very Vanilla Ribbon Lace scallop under it, added it to the card front and added a strip of Crumb Cake to it.  I stamped Oh Happy Day in Basic Black on Crumb Cake, punched with the Wide Oval Punch, layered onto a Very Vanilla Decorative Label punch then added to the card front using dimensionals.  Next was two Basic Black Bitty Butterflies (hmmm….say that fast a couple times!), added to the label the added some Basic Pearls to the butterflies and the Crumb Cake strip!  See…easy as can be.

Hello

DSC00584Happy Monday everyone and time for another Technostampter Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  I was going to do another bee card – bee-cause the other turned out sooo cute – but decided to go with butterflies.  You can’t go wrong with butterflies!

The base of the card is So Saffron and I stamped the Hello from Oh Hello in Island Indigo.  I added a print from the Tea for Two dsp.  Next I took a piece of the Natural Cream and punch three 1 1/4″ scallop circles in there.  (You can click the tutorial link above then click on Window Pane or click here to access my video on how to get nicely aligned punch outs like this.)  I took a piece of Island Indigo, punched the scallop along the edge, added a strip of Lucky Limeade  then added my punched out piece using dimensional.  This was then added to the card front.  I stamped the butterfly from Bloomin’ Marvelous using Lucky Limeade on Natural Cream, punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch, added to a 3/4″ So Saffron Circle then added to the center of each scallop circle.  Finally I tied a piece of Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around the card to finish it off.

Create Spring Sat Challenges 007WOW…we are already at the end of week 2 of Create with Connie and Mary Spring Edition 2013 and this week was a major Sale-a-bration as the design team focused on items in the Sale-a-bration brochure.  Oh how fun!  And now since it is Saturday, we have a challenge for our subscribers and we post our projects to our blogs.

This is such a fun and easy card to make!  The base of the card is Pool Party.  I took a piece of Tangerine Tango and added to the card base.  Next I took a print from the Sycamore Street dsp pack, layered onto Island Indigo then to the card base.  I did the medium doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit in Tangerine Tango and added an Island Indigo circle behind it.  Next I stamped the greeting in Tangerine Tango and Island Indigo on Whisper White, cut into a banner and added to the card front.  For the butterfly I inked in Island Indigo, stamped off, then did rock and roll on the edge in Island Indigo to get the two tone look.  I punched this out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  The flower is in Pool Party with the center in Tangerine Tango.  To finish it all off I added some Basic Rhinestones to the Tangerine panel and to the butterfly.

Set(s): Bloomin’ Marvelous (SAB)
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Sycamore Street dsp (SAB)
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango

I LOVE this sketch…just a little different take on an old favorite.  The base of the card is Island Indigo 4 1/4 x 4 1/4.  I took another piece of the Island Indigo and ran it through the Vine Street Embossing Folder then added to the card front.  I did two Tangerine Tango Zig Zags from the Tasteful Trim XL Die and added to the card front.  Next I added the 4 panels from the Sycamore Street dsp pack using dimensionals.  The one flower is Island Indigo ink on Tangerine Tango with Pool Party Button and the other is Midnight Muse ink on Island Indigo with Tangerine Tango button.  The buttons are added using Baker’s Twine.  The flowers are cut out with Floral Frames Framelits.  I stamped the happy birthday in Island Indigo on Pool Party, cut into a banner and added to the card front to finish it off.

Bitty Butterflies

SC420 Butterflies 001I just love the simple sketch for the SCS Sketch Challenge this week.  This was one of those times that as soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  It’s a quick little CAS card so here’s the details…

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White, ran it through the Chevron Embossing Folder and added it to the base.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White and punched four 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle ‘windows’ in there.  How do I get them so even?  Click on the tutorial link above and check out my tutorial.  I layered this onto a piece of Melon Mambo Polka Dotted paper then onto the card front using dimensionals.  I punched out 4 Bitty Butterflies from Whisper White and added to the card front using dimensionals (yep…lots of dimensionals!) then added a small rhineston on each.  Finally it stamped the hello from the Pretty Petites (SAB) stamp in Basic Black on Whisper White and Melon Mambo and punched with small ticket on the Ticket Duo punch, added a mini silver brad than added to the card front using a glue dot.
