Don’t Be Square

What a fun theme we have for you today for our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – “Don’t Be Square”…card that are NOT square or rectangular. This was a bit of a challenge as we really don’t have any larger framelits that can be used so mine is a little card but I think it turned out cute!

Isn’t that ADORABLE?  I used the ribbon framelit to make the base of my card.  I sometimes get asked how you do it and have the top of the card not be flattened.  Here’s a mini tutorial (I used Flirty Flamingo)…

Take piece of Flirty Flamingo 2 1/2 x 6 1/2, fold in half, cut out using Ribbon Framelit positioning the framelit as shown in picture above.

Once cute out the “card base” looks like the picture above when open.

Now cut out a single full one and layer on top.  It now opens as a card but is the full ribbon on top.

Here’s the rest of the details…

  • Whisper White – cut out flower
  • Pear Pizzazz – cut out two leave layer behind flower
  • Whisper White – stamp greeting using Flirty Flamingo and Basic Black marker, punch out using 1 3/8″ circle, layer onto scalloped circle (Flirty Flamingo) from the Layering Circles Framelits; layer everything together and add to front of ribbon using dimensionals

Don’t forget…we are offering a cool Brusho Techniques Collection…you WANT this one!

Fun Edge Card

Welcome to another FUN Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  And speaking of FUN our theme for this week is a card with a FUN edge (not the regular straight edges.  Well…I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with this one!

I LOVE the edge in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets and knew I wanted to use that to create my fun edge but that I didn’t want it with snowflakes.  With October right around the corner, I pulled out my Support Ribbon Framelits and Ribbon of Courage set to pair with it.  Here’s the details…

  • Flirty Flamingo – 4 1/4 x 11, fold at 5 1/2 leaving the front flap 4 1/2 long
  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, cut the bottom edge using the Swirly Snowflake edge and add to card front
  • Smoky Slate – 1/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Flirty Flamingo – cut out three flowers from the Support Ribbon Framelit set, add to card front
  • Stamp greeting using Smoky Slate
  • Add Perfect White Accents to the center of each flower to finish off.

Here’s a picture of it closed so you can see how the inside of the card shows through.

How AWESOME is that!

Favorite Pink

Well…it’s that time again…time for another Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  This week out theme is Favorite Pink.  Okay…I have a confession to make…my card is NOT made with my current favorite pink.  I LOVE Flirty Flamingo…What a GREAT pink!  The problem though is that I don’t have dsp that is Flirty Flamingo so instead of my FAVORITE pink, it is more the pink that I had some dsp to use!  LOL!!!  What can I say…full disclosure!

Don’t you just LOVE the new Ribbon of Courage set?  I am SOOOO glad that SU FINALLY has one of these again.  I think this is such a pretty set!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whole Lot of Lovely dsp (Powder Pink print) – 1 x 5 1/2, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, spritz with water and run through the ruffled dynamics embossing folder (okay…have to say this…NOT real impressed – all puns intended – with this…almost looks more like someone sat on the paper than that I used an embossing folder) and add to card front
  • Powder Pink – 1/4 x 5 1/2, add to card front
  • Powder Pink – stamp ribbon using Memento Black, cut out using matching framelit, color with Powder Pink, Blushing Bride and Chalk markers, add clear Wink of Stella to the white section, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Powder Pink – 1/2 x 1 3/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into banner, add using dimensionals
