Pleasant Poppies

TSSC314Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge and Mary Jo has a nice easy one for us!  I knew when I saw it I wanted to use something that would let me use my new Blendabilities some.  Then I remembered my Pleasant Poppies background stamp that I haven’t used in FOREVER so I figured it would work.

Now one of the things about the blendabilities is that when you buy them you get a set of 3 shades of one color.  But remember….you don’t have to use just those colors together.  My friend Jackie played around some mixing the medium colors of markers and I thought I’d just mix them up a bit too.  For the flowers on this card I used the Cherry Cobbler Medium and Light and the Pumpkin Pie Medium.  I think I was able to get a cool poppy color doing that.

Here’s the details:

  • Tangerine Tango – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Tangerine Tango dsp Paper Pack – 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 layered onto Whisper White 4 x 4.
  • Tie a piece of the NEW Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon around the panel and add to card front.
  • Whisper White 2 1/2 x 3 5/8.  Stamp Pleasant Poppies using Memento Black Ink, color with Cherry Cobbler Medium and Light and Pumpkin Pie Medium Blendabilities and stems with Old Olive Medium and Light Blendabilities.  Round bottom corners and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting using Basic Grey on So Saffron.  Punch ends using Modern Label punch.  Add to card front using dimensionals.

TSSC314Isn’t this just a FABULOUS sketch?  I thought so!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

CAS212The NOT so simple clean and simple card!  So today (as in all Mondays) is the clean and simple challenge on SCS.  You all know how I LOVE that challenge.  Today it was an inspiration picture from pintrest of this AWESOME cake that was black and gold and had poppies on it.  I immediately thought of this stamp.  I really should have stopped there.  I am absolutely NO GOOD at coloring and it takes me FOREVER!!!  Where I can usually whip out a CAS card in under 15 mins…the coloring along probably took me 1/2 hour.   But…it turned out cute so I thought I’d share.

The base of the card is Basic Black (like the cake).  I stamped the poppies using StazOn Jet Black on watercolor paper then used my Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade and More Mustard markers to color in along with a blender pen.  This is mounted on a piece of Riding Hood Red then onto the card base.  Next I stamped the greeting using Basic Black on More Mustard, cut into a banner and added to the card front.  I colored the pearls using my Gold Glimmer marker (makes them look Lucky Limeade in real life) then added to the card to finish it off.

Set(s): Pleasant Poppies, Sweet Essentials
Paper: Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, More Mustard, Watercolor
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade, More Mustard
Other: Blender Pen, Basic Pearls, Gold Glimmer Pen, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

You all know that watercoloring isn’t something I like to do…probably because I’m not very good at it!  For this I used ink in the lid of the stamp pad and a blender pen.  It worked.  Boy…at times like this wish we still had that wonderful Poppy Parade ink!  For this though I stamped the image using StazOn Jet Black on watercolor paper then colored with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.  I used the Large Scallop Edgelit to cut out the Old Olive scallops for above and below the image and wrapped a piece of Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the bottom then added to the Cherry Cobbler card base.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Black on watercolor paper, cut out with the Windows Framelit, added a gold brad to the top then added the greeting using dimensionals.

Set(s): Pleasant Poppies, Bloomin’ with Kindness

Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, More Mustard
