Painted Harvest

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends in the US!  And to all of you who are going to participating in Black Friday tomorrow…good luck!  As you might remember, we moved in April to right by the Dayton Mall.  We have been warned by the neighbors that it gets a bit ‘ugly’ around here this time of year.  That’s okay…I don’t have to go that way!  LOL!!!

This week we have a really different color combo…it was a bit of a challenge for me to figure out a way to use those colors (Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive) in a Thanksgiving kind of card.  When all else fails…use LEAVES!

Here’s the details…

  • Crumb Cake – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Crumb Cake – 4 x 5 1/4, run through the Layered Leaves embossing folder and add to card front
  • Foil Snowflake – add to card front – foild side down
  • Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive – cut out solid large leaf, detailed leaf and small leaf from each.  Add the detailed leaf to the large leaf, layer everything together and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 3, stamp greeting using Early Espresso, cut into banner on both ends  and add using dimensionals
  • Remove the backs from 3 Perfect White Accents and add to card front to finish off.

Make sure you head over to Create with Connie and Mary and see what our AMAZING design team did this week!

And We Give Thanks

Happy Saturday everyone!  Don’t you just LOVE Saturdays?  I know I do because there is always such COOL inspiration from the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop.  This week we are giving thanks with words that have the word ‘thanks’ on it.

I’ve seen a number of cards (including one from our own very talented Connie) where the sunflower was done in blues instead of traditional yellows.  I thought they were just BEAUTIFUL so I thought for this card I would give thanks for the inspiration done by others!

Here’s the details…

  • Smoky Slate – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Vellum – 3 3/4 x 5, run through the Layer Leaves embossing folder and add to card front
  • Whisper White – layer largest stitched square and coordinating layering square to create frame; add to card front
  • Night of Navy – layer second largest stitched square and coordinating layering square to create frame; add to card front
  • Punch leaves from Night of Navy (1), Smoky Slate (1), Basic Grey (2)
  • Whisper White – stamp sunflower base in Soft Sky and top layer in Marina Mist, stamp center in Smoky Slate and dots in Basic Grey, cut out, add leaves behind the flower and add to card using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – 5/8 x 3, stamp greeting using Night of Navy, cut into banner on both ends and add using dimensionals

Non-Traditional Fall Colors

WOW…happy October!  I do think it might FINALLY be getting around to fall around it.  Maybe…but then again, it’s Ohio…maybe NOT!  It is staying dark so much longer in the morning and getting darker sooner at night.

But Fall IS here and this week the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog hop is celebrating Fall using non-traditional colors!  FUN!!!

This is such a pretty color combo…Peek-a-boo Peach, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate!  I think it still gives off a ‘fall’ feel even without the traditional red, orange and yellow.  This is a really easy card…especially when you have some of the pieces already sitting on top of your desk!

Here’s the details…

  • Peek-a-boo Peach – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp greeting using Night of Navy
  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 4 1/2, cut along bottom with Swirly Snowflake thinlit edge, add to card front
  • Night of Navy, Smoky Slate – cut out detailed leaf
  • Peek-a-boo Peach – cut out solid leaf, all add three to card front
  • Tie Night of Navy Gingham ribbon into bow and add to card front to finish it off.

I just LOVE the edge you get from that Swirly Snowflake set…just so PRETTY!  And pretty is a GREAT way to describe the cool ideas in the new Create with Connie and Mary October Mini Edition!   We are opening on October 11th!

I’ve been wanted to do a little stamping…I LOVE making fall cards.  LEAVES…it’s ALL about LEAVES!  LOL!!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, add the ‘grid’ using the Pattern Party stencil and embossing paste.  Let dry and layer on Cajun Craze – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, stamp greeting using Night of Navy
  • Fold piece of Burlap ribbon, staple in the middle and add to card front
  • Cajun Craze and Night of Navy – cut out solid leaf and add to card front – one behind ribbon and one on top using dimensionals

Painted Harvest

I just really can’t believe it is October already.  One of the really crazy things is that for the next two weeks I don’t think I could be any busier at work.  I am finishing up my second course development and starting on my third one.  This one has to be done ASAP as it is going in test mode soon.  We are getting ready for the open house of our new Health Sciences building at school and I am doing a presentation next Friday…EEK…better get going on that one!  LOL!!!  But anyway there is always time to get a little stamping in there!

Here is a super simple card we did last month at my card class.  I just LOVE fall colors!  Here’s the details…

  • Crushed Curry – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, stamp flower using So Saffron and Crushed Curry, leaves using Pear Pizzazz, flower center in Crumb Cake and greeting in Early Espresso; layer onto Early Espresso – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
  • Tie piece of Old Olive Chevron Ribbon around panel then add to card front.

Yep…easy peasy lemon squeezy!  Did you know it’s that time again?  Our Create with Connie and Mary OCTOBER 2017 MINI SESSION is coming on the 11th!
