SP15SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  With this being Easter weekend for us here, we thought we’d celebrate with “Hello Spring”.

SatHopSpring

As always there’s a story to go along with this!  This actually started a couple weeks ago with the idea for doing it for a color challenge for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday challenge.  So I made the cup and the flowers and then these leaves and then realized…OOOPS…wrong color for the leaves.  Next I realized the color I would have to use for the circle was not REALLY the color I wanted to use and well…it sort of just sat, you guessed it…ON THE TOP OF MY DESK.  So I was trying to figure out what to do for our ‘hello spring’ thing and this was sitting on top of my desk…well, at least parts of it so I went with it.  I do think it looks nice and ‘springy’!

Here’s the details…

  • Mint Macaron – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 5 1/8 x 3 7/8
  • Mint Macaron 5 x 3 3/4, run through the Decorative Dots embossing folder, layer on the white and add to card front

SUO141Oh…do we have a super EASY challenge for you on the SUO challenge this time.  How about this…Happy Birthday!  Honestly…except for ‘anything goes’…it doesn’t get any easier than this!

The only thing sometime with a really ‘open’ them like this is narrowing down what to do.  Oh…what to do…what to do!  So I went trolling on Pinterest for some inspiration and this is saw the idea of a balloon embossing folder.  Well we don’t have that but I decided I COULD make a ‘faux’ embossed folder background.

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White THICK – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 x 5 1/4
  • Punch out balloons (both the large and small) using Whisper White THICK (I just like the feel of that better for this!) and add to the 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White panel.  Once you have everything on there, just trim off the edges.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Melon Mambo – punch out Large Balloon, use White Gel pen to add some details and add using dimensionals, draw on ‘string’ using Basic Grey marker
  • Cut ‘happy’ out of Basic Black and add to card front
  • Stamp banner and greeting using Basic Black Archival on Mint Macaron, cut out and add using dimensionals.

Yep…take a little time for the background but otherwise…super simple!

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Number of Years
Paper: Whisper White THICK, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron
Ink: Basic Black Archival, Basic Grey Marker

SUO140It’s time for another SUO Challenge and this time the theme is Valentine Cards or Gifts.

I had this idea that I wanted to use for a Valentine type card and so this was just the perfect challenge for me to use the idea for!

I LOVE the stem/leaves from the Number of Years set and instead of ‘flowers’ I wanted to add some hearts.  My friend Jo gave me some of her Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and I decided that would be PERFECT for my hearts to give it that ‘little extra’.  So…put everything together and this is what you got!

Here’s the details…

  • Rose Red – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Heart/flower print (Love Blossoms dsp), 3 1/4 x 4 1/4
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 1/4, add printed piece on it and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Wild Wasabi – 1/8 x 3 1/4, cut two and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 2 x 3 3/4, punch top using scallop tag topper punch, corner round bottom corners, stamp greeting using Real Red and stem/leaves using Wild Wasabi, punch out hearts using Itty Bitty Accents punch from Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and add to tag.
  • Add piece of Wild Wasabi Seam Binding to the top, tie using Whisper White Baker’s Twine, add tag to card front using dimensionals

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!
