Just Believe

I was really stumped by Mary Jo’s Technostamper sketch challenge this week.  I think it was the on point square that did me in.  Anyway after playing with it a LONG time.  I finally came up with this.  Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and I hope the sales were with you if you went shopping.

The base of the card is More Mustard.  I cut out some leaves in More Mustard using the Autumn Accents Die and added to the bottom of the card.  I added a piece of the blue gingham print from the Orchard Harvest dsp and then a strip of the Cajun print.  I cut out two of the maple leaves (Autumn Accents Die) in Very Vanilla.  I sponged the one in More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, stamped the leafy image in Early Espress, layered onto the Very Vanilla leaf, made a ‘bow’ (click the tutorial tab above to access bow tutorial) using Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon and a Designer Printed brad,  added to the leaves, and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Early Espresso and Cajun Craze, cut with the Bitty Banner Framelit then added to the card front using dimensionals.  A couple Basic Pearls were added to finish things off.

Chic

Okay…when I saw the CAS challenge for this one I honestly didn’t know WHERE to begin.  It was ‘word inspired’ and the word was ‘chic’.  This is NOT a word that is in my normal vocabulary so I went to the dictionary to help me figure out what the HECK to do with this!

Definition of CHIC
1: smart elegance and sophistication especially of dress or manner : style <wears her clothes with superb chic>

Okay…so that gave me a place to start. I decided to go very simple on this with just a dash of sparkle!

I do have to admit, once I got this done…one of my all time most FAVORITE CARDS EVER!!!!  I love the simplicity!  The base of the card is Whisper White. I took another piece of Whisper White and embossed the greeting using Silver Embossing Powder.  I added the panel to the card base using dimensionals  Next I made the flower using the Flower Fusion Sizzlit with the Silver Glimmer paper (hint…put the ‘back side down and it cuts MUCH better!) and the the blue rhinestone from a Rhinestone brad (popped out of the holder).  I put the pieces together using Crystal Effects and curled up the edges of the petals.  I did the Little Leaves Sizzlit in Whisper White, attached it to the back of the flower then added it to the card front using dimenionsionals.

The theme for the SUO Challenge is Spring (or Autumn if you are from ‘down under’!).  I decided to go for the spring part of the theme.  In keeping with the my CAS style these days I wanted to go with a nice simple design.  The base of the card is Whisper White.  I took a piece of Bashful Blue Polka Dotted dsp, added to the bottom and rounded the corners.  I used the ribbon lace border punch on a piece of Sahara Sand and added to the card base and wrapped a piece of Baker’s Twine around it.  I stamped the little Whisper White panels with the little stem/leaf image from Just Believe using Certainly Celery, punched out some Itty Bitty Flowers and added them using mini brads and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting in Certainly Celery.

Set(s): Just Believe
Paper: Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue dsp
Ink: Certainly Celery
Other: Ribbon Lace Border Punch, Itty Bitty punch, Corner Rounder, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Silver Mini Brads, Dimensionals

Here is the 3rd card I did for the CAS DT call on SCS.  I will have to say…this was my favorite of the three I made!  What I like about this card is that is looks like a tall card but really it is a regular 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card.

So the final challenge was a color challenge…one of my favorite things to do.  The colors were Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Sahara Sand (or Creamy Caramel).  Ooooo…how pretty is THAT combo!  Such an easy card.  The base of the card is 3 1/4 x 5 /12 Whisper White.  I ran the bottom of the front of the card through the Stripes Embossing folder.  Next I took a piece of Certainly Celery Polka Dotted dsp, cut into a banner and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey on Bashful Blue, cut into a banner and added to the Celery Banner using dimensionals and glue dots.  I stamped the leaf/stem image using Certainly Celery on Whisper White and punched with the Wide Oval Punch.  I punched out three small Bashful Blue flowers using the Itty Bitty punch and added using the Silver Mini Brads.  This is layered onto the the oval frame from the Lots of Tags Sizzlet set in Sahara Sand, added the stamped image then to the card front using dimensionals.
