Happy Birthday, Everyone

Summer15HopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop where the FABULOUS designers pick a theme and we each off a project based on that theme.  For the month of August we are going to be having fun with the new incolors.  This week we are taking a look at WATERMELON WONDER!

Now I will say I do like most of the new incolors.  Can’t say they are my absolute FAVS but not bad.  Only really one I don’t like all that much…oh, but will save THAT for another week.  Don’t worry…you’ll be able to figure THAT one out!

And so this week is watermelon wonder and I do like watermelon…both the color and the fruit!  LOL!!!  Here’s my card…

Watermelon

I decided for this week to keep it pretty simple with a CAS card.  I have to say…I HAD to have this hostess set because I LOVE the big happy BIRTHDAY – it just makes me smile.  And then I just HAD to have the Stamp a Bag set for the row of dots…what can I say…it’s just SO ME!  So you put those two things together and well…the card pretty much made itself!  LOL!!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White THICK cardstock (LOVE this stuff!) – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, folded and round the bottom right corners.
  • Incolor Envelope dsp (Watermelon Stripe) – cut two pieces 1/2 x 4 1/2, add on a diagonal, crossing them and trim off ends
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp row of dots in Watermelon Wonder, greeting in Memento Black, round bottom right corner and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • And since it is a birthday card…add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off!

I TOLD you it was quick and easy!  LOL!!!

Set(s): Happy Birthday Everyone (host), Stamp a Bag
Paper: Whisper White THICK, Whisper White, Incolor Envelope dsp
Ink: Memento Black, Watermelon Wonder
Other: Project Life Corner Rounder, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Let the party begin!  We’ve change the way to get from one blog to the next to use the buttons below to go either backward (previous) to the Create site or forward (next) to the very talented Nicole Tugrul.

Irresistible!

Summer15HopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop where the FABULOUS designers pick a theme and we each off a project based on that theme.  This week our theme is RESIST – either the resist technique or the Color Me Irresistible dsp!

Okay…before I share my cards I have to admit I completely and totally lost track of what day it was so at 10 pm on Friday evening I’m frantically making my card.  I’ve been SOOOO busy with school I simply lost a day.  But the good news is that I have finished up the computer work on TWO of my 5 classes I have to do (and I’m helping a friend with hers so that is 6).  They take so much time and concentration that once I start one thing…I have to work it through until the end.

So here it was 10 pm last night and I realized I NEED A CARD – OH NO!!!  Well I ended up making two because I just couldn’t figure out what to do!  (Made toooo many decisions working on my courses – LOL!!!)

So…card 1…

Resist 1Okay…this turn out sort of fun!  I cut the dsp into large chevrons, added the ink and created my card.  Here’s the details

  • Daffodil Delight – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, layer onto Basic Black 4 x 5 1/4 and add to card base.
  • Color Me Irresistible – cut three chevrons – 3 1/2 wide – one is 1 1/4, one is 3/4 and the last is 3/8.  Color thickest using Calypso Coral, middle with Daffodil Delight and thinnest with Bermuda Bay.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp balloon 3 times using Memento Black on Whisper White and then the banner on Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay, cut out, layer and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Color some Perfect White accents using black sharpie and add to card front to finish off.

So…then I wasn’t sure if I liked that so I made a second card…

Resist 2When making a card I don’t like using a lot of different sets on it (an this uses three) but it is a fun card too.  Here’s the details…

  • Pumpkin Pie – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Color Me Irresistible – 1 1/2 x 5 1/2, stamp larger splatter in Pumpkin Pie, smaller one in Real Red and very small splatter in Memento Black.  Add to card front.
  • Pumpkin Pie – 3 1/4  5 1/2, stamp greeting using Memento Black, add strip of Basic Black 1/2 x 5 1/2 behind it and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp dragonfly on Whisper White in Real Red and Memento Black, cut out and add to card front.
  • Add Perfect White Accents.

So…that’s my two cards

Set(s): Sweet Stack, Awesomely Artistic, Gorgeous Grunge, Happy Birthday Everyone
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Color Me Irresistible dsp
Ink: Memento Black, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie
Other: Perfect White Accents, Dimensionals

They are just sooo ‘irresistible!  We’ve change the way to get from one blog to the next to use the buttons below to go either backward (previous) to the Create site or forward (next) to the very talented Nicole Tugrul.

Happy Birthday, Everyone

Extra1Take 2…well actually this was the original card I made for yesterday’s challenge but ended up not really liking it so made the one I posted yesterday.

Even though I didn’t totally love it…it was still a good card so I decided to post it today.  It’s always good to see someone’s reject!

Here’s the details –

  • Crushed Curry – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4, stamp larger splatter using Crushed Curry and smaller splatter using Watermelon Wonder.  Stamp happy birthday using Memento Black.
  • Layer onto Basic Black 4 5/8 x 3 3/8.
  • Punch piece of Cherry on the Top dsp using the Washi Tape punch, fold on a diagonal, layer behind the Basic Black layer and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Color 3 Perfect White Accents using black Sharpie and add to card front.

Happy Birthday, Everyone

CCMC364Happy Thursday everyone!  As you are reading this I’m in Pittsburgh (PA) visiting with my sister.  I decided to go on the visit sort of ‘last minute’ so I was trying to get some of my challenges done so I could get them ready to post.  So I sat down to do my card for this challenge (Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge) and I made a really cool card!  I went  upload it into the Create blog only to discover it wasn’t the right challenge!  OOPS!!!  So then I had to do another card.  I was sort of short of time before I left so I decided to go CAS.  Well…I did one card using the right colors but wasn’t my favorite so I did this one which I like (don’t worry…I’ll show my reject tomorrow!).

Here’s the details…

  • Watermelon Wonder – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Basic Black – 3/4 x 5 1/2 and add to the bottom of the card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 5 1/2, stamp larger grunge stamp using Crushed Curry and the smaller one using Watermelon Wonder.  Stamp greeting using Momento Black.
  • Add panel to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Color some of the Perfect White Accents using a black Sharpie, let dry and add to card front to finish off!

Yep…it really is that easy!  And speaking of easy…are looking for some GREAT card and 3D ideas using sets in the new catalog?  Then check out the NEW Create with Connie and Mary Mini-Session!

Happy Birthday, Everyone

dahliaMy husband has a phrase that he like to use “Simple, Not Simpler”.  I have to say, I agree.  It’s not always about taking something complex and dropping it back a few notches but making it simple to begin with.

That’s what this card is about…Simple, Not Simpler.  It’s quick and easy and really quite stunning in its simplicity!  I LOVE the new dahlia background stamp and you just can’t beat this bold (and beautiful) hostess set birthday greet!  You put them together and it’s simple and stunning.

Here’s the details –

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, round bottom right corner
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp dahlia in Blushing Bride and greeting in Night of Navy, round bottom corner and layer on Night of Navy 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 with bottom right corner rounded and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Color two Perfect White Accents using navy sharpie and add to card front to finish up.

Yep…it is really that simple!  And you know what else is simple? Joining us for the Create with Connie and Mary LIVE event on July 11th and we would LOVE to have you join us.  Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ of the projects we will be doing…
