Happy May everyone!  Well I AM moved in.  The painters have left the new house.  The boxes are SLOWLY getting unpacked.  My craft room is somewhat unpacked…but not totally.  I did have enough stuff unpacked so that I could stamp a card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Thursday’s Challenge.  We have a cool color combo this week – Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron, and Old Olive.  the Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron will be leaving at the end of this catalog…I will miss these colors.  I decided to use a set that is retiring and think it turned out pretty good.

Here’s the the details…

  • Tip Top Taupe – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Tip Top Taupe Gingham Print (Succulent Garden dsp) – 1 x 4 1/4, add to bottom of card front
  • Whisper White – 2 1/2 x 4 1/4, stamp pointy flower in Mint Macaron, flower center in Tip Top Taupe and open flower in Old Olive, add to card front.
  • Old Olive – cute two pieces 1/8 x 4 1/4, add to top and bottom of Whisper White panel.
  • Whisper White – stamp large pointy flower in Tip Top Taupe and small pointy flower in Old Olive, cut out layer and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Mint Macaron – 3/4 x 2 1/2, stamp greeting using Soft Suede, cut into banner, add to card front using dimensionals.

So head over to Create with Connie and Mary to check out the designs from our talented design team.

SproutBoy…I didn’t think I was going to get any time to stamp this weekend but I had time for one quick, simple card.  School is whooping me!  I am working on a major course rewrite that has to go live summary (mid-May).  Then there was a going to be a problem with getting it loaded into all the shell with the 1 week between terms but then our distance learning department is using my class to test a new version of our system so I’m going to get some help in building my website!  YAY!!!  Bad news though…I must have the course ready to go in 2 weeks!  EEEK!!!  I have spent ALL weekend (and I’m talking probably 10 hours minimum each day) working on this.  Fortunately I’ve been working throughout the term so I did have SOME already done!

But…on to my card!  On Tuesday I saw that casology challenge was ‘sprout’. Hmm…what to do with that.  I was using this cute little flower for another card I worked on and thought it would be good for the challenge.  This actually started as a white on white card but sort of grew from there!  That ever happen to you!  Not totally a CAS card but still VERY simple!

Here’s the details…

  • Kraft – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Kraft – 3 1/2 x 4 1/4, run through the Softly Falling folder
  • Daffodil Delight diagonal stripe 5/8 x 4 1/4 – cut two, add behind panel and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – stamp stem/leaves using Pear Pizzazz, make ‘grass’ using Pear Pizzazz Marker, stamp greeting using Basic Black Archival, punch out using the Note Tag punch.  Add piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon using Handheld stapler, add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp flower using Daffodil Delight, cut out, add to card front.  Add Basic Black Candy Dot to center to finish off.

SUOBoy do we have an interesting challenge for the SUO Challenge this time!  The theme is ‘use your team colors’ for a card.  Well if you know me, you know I live in Ohio…Xenia Ohio to be exact.  But if you know where I grew up, you would know that is Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.  Knowing that it would be easy to guess I’m showing my team color for the Pittsburgh Steelers – Gold and Black!  Well in this case it is Crushed Curry and Black but that works for me!

Here’s the details –

  • Crushed Curry – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, stamp greeting using Memento Black, layer on Basic Black 3 3/4 x 5, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp flowers using Crushed Curry and center and leaves in Memento Black (sorry Jackie!), cut out using framelits, bend flower edges add centers using dimensionals then add to card front.
  • Color some rhinestones using the darkest Daffodil Delight blendabilities (sorry…I know they are not available anymore but I do LOVE them!) and add to centers of flowers and under the greeting.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see which one they picked!

Set(s): Flower Patch
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry
Ink: Memento Black, Crushed Curry, Blendabilities: Daffodil Delight
Other: Flower Flair Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

What’s Your Type?

IC451I wanted to do a little stamping this morning so I was checking out the inspiration challenge over on SCS.  The website is called LEIF and I found this inspiration here.

As soon as I saw this vase I though about the new What’s My Type? photopolymer set and figured it would just be so easy to do the triangular background with it.  I was RIGHT!  I really wasn’t any problem at all making the background to match the vase in the inspiration piece!

Here’s the details…

  • Pistachio Pudding – 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 folded
  • Whisper white – 4 x 4, stamp the triangle on the piece in Pistachio Pudding then trim down.  My square ended up 3 7/8 x 3 7/8.  Wrap a piece of the Pistachio Pudding Twine around it then add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp greeting on Whisper White using Garden Green, cut into a banner and add using dimensionals.
  • Punch out 3 Crisp Cantaloupe flowers using the Itty Bitty Accessory Punch Pack add to card front.
  • Add Basic Rhinestones to finish off.
Set(s): Flower Patch, What’s Your Type
Paper: Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloup
Ink: Pstachio Pudding, Garden Green
Other: Pistachio Pudding Twine, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

TLC489This morning I decided to stop by the Technique Challenge on SCS just to see what it was.  I usually don’t play along with that one but for some reason this really caught my eye.  You were to use and embossing folder then color on it.  Now this isn’t the same as adding color to the embossing folder then embossing.  This is coloring AFTER you do the embossing.  I decided to use my blendabilities.  I think it looks cool but because the fibers in the cardstock breakdown some where the embossing is…the color from the blendabilities really does spread.  But cool…fun look!

Here’s the details…

  • Daffodil Delight – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run through the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder
  • Color with the Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Blendabilities
  • Layer onto Pumpkin Pie – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Basic Black – 1/4 x 3 1/2 – add to card front
  • Daffodil Delight – 3/4 x 3 1/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into banner and add using dimensionals in the center
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.

Is that fun?
