Flourishing Phrases

Do you ever find a color combo you like and just want to make EVERYTHING in it?  Well…I have to say that has happened to me with a combo of oranges and blues for fall cards!

I sat down this past weekend to do some stamping so I’d have posts for my blog and really was NOT feeling Christmas yet, so I decided to do a bunch of fall cards.  I decided though I would make a variety of cards…but all using the same basic color combo (or slight variations of it).  The other thing I notice is I tend to neglect ‘old stuff’ once I get ‘new stuff’, so I decided to pull out my Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and pair it up with the little leaves in the Seasonal Layers and a greeting from Flourishing Phrases.  It’s one of those easy peasy cards!

Here’s the details…

  • Pool Party – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, stamp greeting in Memento Black, layer onto Cajun Craze – 3 3/4 x 5 and add to card front
  • Crumb Cake – cut out large Swirly Scribble, add to card front
  • Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Peek-a-boo Peach – cut out small leaf from Seasonal Layers Thinlits, layer together and add to wreath
  • Black Baker’s Twine – triple it up, tie into a bow and add to wreath using glue dot

So life right now is just a bit complex.  We just purchased a new home and are in the process of moving.  We aren’t just moving, we are downsizing…it’s complex.

But the SUO challenge theme this month is simple – sympathy and caring.  The With Sympathy stamp from Flourishing Phrases is so beautiful and I wanted to pair it with Special Reason.  This is what I came up with.

  • Whisper White – stamp flower using So Saffron and leaves in Crumb Cake, cut out and add to car front using dimensionals
  • Crumb Cake – cut out flower center using framelit, sponge Crumb Cake around edges and add to center of flower

I just love the simple look of this.

With Sympathy

SP15SatHopWelcome

Welcome to the first Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop for March.  The theme this time is sympathy or encourage…cards that it seems I am needing more and more lately.

Life is a little complicated right now as my husband and I have put a contract on a new home that will allow us to downsize.  A lot of the downsizing will be my craft space – EEK!  If all goes well, we will be moving sometime in April.  So I have until then to get my stuff down to about a third of what I have now.  Let me tell you…NOT easy!

So…with all this going on besides working and STILL fighting bronchitis, I needed to go for something super easy.  With thinlets and designer paper, making a nice but simple card is just a snap!
