Simply Stars

CCMC297It’s another Thursday and time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  This week we have a fun sketch challenge for you and I just had so much fun ‘creating’ this card!

We have just started Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions 2014 and this week for my card set I used the Simply Stars set so … since the set was already sitting out on my the top of my desk, I figured I’d just use that one.  But to see my set of 4 cards that I did using this set, you would have to be a subscriber!  It’s not too late to join!

Here’s the details…

  • Crushed Curry – 3 3/4 x 11 folded
  • Kaleidoscope dsp 3 strips 4 1/4 x 2 rows of triangles for each strip.  Add to card front with a little space between each.
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 3 1/4.  Stamp congratulations using Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry, Basic Black.  I did use a stamp-a-ma-jig to line everything up and keep it straight.  Add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp large star in Strawberry Slush, small dotted star using Bermuda Bay and add using dimensionals.  Punch out two Basic Black stars and add to panel.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.

Check out what the rest of the design team did with this sketch!

Simple Stems

SimpleStemsI needed to come up with a demo card for a workshop I have tomorrow night and decided it would be fun to show all the gold ‘stuff’ that is in the mini.  I wanted to use the great new vellum and the gold Washi Tape (I have been on a bit of a Washi Tape kick lately).  As I was looking for some inspiration for my card, I happened upon The Paper Players challenge for this week and although I didn’t follow it exactly, I really did base it on it.

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Gold Foil Vellum – 5 x 3 3/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4, add the three different gold Washi Tapes.
  • Stamp the greeting using StazOn Jet Black right on the solid Gold Washi Tape.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp flower and stem using versamark, gold emboss, cut out and add using dimensionals.

Pretty easy card really…but uses LOTS of fun stuff!

Set(s): Simple Stems, A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Versamark
Other: Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape, Gold Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Tour de Freaks January

freakwelcome2013Welcome everyone to the January Tour de Freaks!  This month some with be showing off Valentines Day projects while other Freaks will be doing ‘stuff’ with the new Sale-a-bration items!  If you are going forward through the hop you have arrived here from Robin Spinner’s blog – About a Girl.  Weren’t they fun projects?

DSC01393For my projects I decided to use things from the Sale-a-bration brochure and specifically the Heartfelt Banner.  It’s one of those things that really is not my style but thought maybe I could do something with it.  Well…I decided to use some of the items to make them into cards and I think they turned out pretty good.  For my first one I used Crumb Cake as my base.  The doily and two banners are from the pack.  The flower is cut from one of the other banners (I used the other piece on my third card).  I added a piece of Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon along the top and added a Coastal Cabana Boutique Detail.  I stamped the greeting (Delightful Dozen) on Whisper White using Basic Grey, add to the flower then added both the to card using dimensionals.

DSC01396Now for the second card.  This time I chose Coastal Cabana as the card base.  I added a piece of the Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon along the top.  I layered the dotted banner and the flower one and added some for the Linen Thread (came in the kit) to it.  I did use a double strand instead of just a single.  These banners are added to the card base using dimensionals.  I added a canvas heart (from the kit) then added a Coastal Cabana Boutique Details  to the heart.  Finally I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey on the card front.

DSC01394For my third card I used Pear Pizzazz as the card base.  I took the canvas banner (from the kit) that has the heart cut out of it already and ran it through the Delightful Dots (SAB) Embossing Folder.  I added the left over piece from the first card behind the opening in the heard then added this to the card front using dimensionals.  Next I made a bow (just click on my Tutorials tab above and you will find my bow tutorial) using the Candy Dots brad base and Calypso Coral Ribbon.  I added it to the Chevron Flag.  I stamped the hello twice using Basic Grey on Whisper White, cut into flags and added behind the bow then added this panel to the card front.

DSC01400So those were my cards but what the HECK do you do with the felt balls that come in that kit.  THAT was my REAL challenge.  First…I cut them in half.  Then I used the Fun Flowers Die and cut out the two smallest flowers using the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp.  Now that I had a flower I had to do something with it.  I took a 2 x 8 3/8″ piece of Pistachio Pudding.  I scored at 4 and 4 3/8.  Then I punched both ends using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey, folded up and added a Ghirdelli Chocolate inside.  I tied the top using Crisp Cantaloupe Twine to finish it off.  Cool…VERY COOL!!!!

So that’s my projects for today!  Now it’s time to head over to Justin Krieger’s blog – JK Cards.  He has some fun things in store for you.

Congratulations

WOO HOOO…it’s time for another CAS challenge on SCS!  You know how I love it!  This week we are using a I did as our sketch inspiration.  I paired it with a card that I did for the SUO challenge and ended up with this first card for today!

I was so happy that we were using this sketch as I really enjoyed it.  I sort of went a bit ‘overboard’ with it and I did two more cards besides this one so so make sure you check them all out!  Some quick notes….

The base of the card is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper white, did the scallop edge on a piece of Basic Black, added that to the the Whisper White panel, then embossed the greeting using silver embossing powder.  Next I took a 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle and used this to create the rhinestone circle using the small and medium rhinestones.  I used the Stars die for the Silver Glimmer and Basic Black stars and added these to the card front using dimensionals.  I added the panel to the card front using dimensionals.

I love the look of black/white/silver together…so classy and makes a GREAT CAS card!  Make sure you check out my other cards for this sketch!

Set(s): Delightful Dozen

Congratulations

I wanted my card to have a very ‘classy’ look so I went with a favorite ‘color’ combo…white, black and silver.  You just can’t beat it for a ‘black tie’ feel!  The base of the card is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White, ran the top 2/3 through the Striped Embossing Folder, silver embossed the greeting on the bottom, layered it on Basic Black, added a piece of Basic Black Taffeta 3/8″ Ribbon around it and added this to the card base using dimensionals.  Next I took my stars die and did Basic Black and Silver Glimmer stars.  I picked a couple of the and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I love that this is just a quick and easy card yet has a very classy look.
