No Peeking

CAS Party 006Here is another card I made for the CAS200 celebration!  The challenge was to make a card inspired by a Holiday song.  Hmmm can you guess which song inspired this one?  Yep…it was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

Easy peasy card!  The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White and ran it through the Snow Flurry Embossing folder and added to the card front using dimensional.  Rudolph is stamped in Soft Sued on a piece of Whisper White, the little scarf is stamped on Gumball Green, cut out and added, the greeting is stamped using Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green.  I used  large Bitty Banner Framelit to make the two banners – one from Red Glimmer and the other from a scrap of Be of Good Cheer dsp.  This panel is added to the card front using dimensionals.  Finally Rudolph’s nose is a 1/8″ red glimmer circle.

Set(s): No Peeking, More Merry Messages
Paper: Whisper White, Red Glimmer, Gumball Green, Be of Good Cheer dsp
Ink: Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Other: Snow Flurry Embossing Folder, Bitty Banner Framelits, 1/8″ Hole Punch, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Bold Snowflake

Christmas Card 001So I decided to make some cards for Christmas (didn’t have enough ‘non-lumpy’ ones in my stash).  I wanted to use the single Bold Snowflake stamp and I wanted to keep it pretty simple.  I found this GREAT card by my friend Connie and changed it up a bit.  I made a bunch of these up in no time at all!

The base of the card is Very Vanilla.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla and ran it through the Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder and added to the card front.  Next I took another piece of Very Vanilla, stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and added to the card front.  I did the large and small snowflakes from the Snow Flurry die in Cherry Cobbler.  I stamped the snowflake in versamark, gold embossed and punched with the Blossom punch.  I layered the snowflakes all together and added a Champagne Glimmer circle to finish it all off.  So nice and easy!

Set(s): Bold Snowflake (a la carte), More Merry Messages
Paper: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Champagne Glimmer
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Versamark
Other: Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder, Snow Flurry Die, Gold Embossing Folder, Blossom Punch, Bitty Punch Pack

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Tour de Freaks – Dec

freakwelcome

(Please note:  If you are viewing this prior to December 20th, all the links may not yet be active.  The hop is scheduled to go live on the 20th of the month.)  Welcome everyone to the December Tour de Freaks!  Can you believe it is ALMOST CHRISTMAS?  Nope…I can’t either!  Hope you all have a few minutes to spare to do the Freaky Hop with us!  If you are going forward through the hop you have arrived here from the amazingly talent Wendy Weixler and her Wickedly Wonderful Creations blog.  Her stuff always AMAZES me!

Dec Hop 005Before I start…YES THIS IS ALL STAMPIN’! UP! This is a HYBRID piece using images from My Digital Studo.

Okay…not that that is out of the way…a funny story.  My friend Connie was telling me how she was making “Charger Plates” for the people who work for her husband for Christmas (she always makes them such wonderful gifts) and she said…”I’m making them Charger Plates”.  And I said…oh…I bet they’ll like that.  I am NOT in any way shape or form a decorator.  I’m a little geeky maybe but NOT a decorator (Martha S would have a heart attack in my home!)  To me a charger plate is something you use to CHARGE THINGS…hence the name CHARGER PLATE!!!  Then I see people sending out pictures of their ‘charger plates’ and I couldn’t figure out, based on what I was see in the photo…how the heck they were used to charge things.  DUH!!!  Oh well…hope I gave you a chuckle on this!

So I’m sharing with you two charger plates for my items this time.  First up…PINK SNOWFLAKES!!!  Nothing says winter fun to me like PINK SNOWFLAKES (okay…you might have guessed that from my blog banner too!)  As I said in my first line this is a hybrid piece.  The pink (Pretty in Pink and lightened Primrose Petal) snowflakes are images from MDS that I blew up, printed off, cut and added along with snowflakes from the Snow Flurry Die.  The let it snow was also designed in MDS added a snowflake for the “O”.  For the scallopy looking insert I just traced around a decorative plate that was sitting on my desk (you would not BELIEVE what is all sitting on my desk!)  Oh…and that ribbon…okay…LITTLE SNEAK PEEK here…it is GORGEOUS new ribbon from the Spring Mini!  But Mary…were did you get that large silver brad.  THAT’S not SU!   Yes it is…it is an Incolor Printed Brad that I embossed with silver embossing powder!  This is just so fun and sparkly in real life!

Dec Hop 007And now for my second Charger Plate that doesn’t charge anything!  Last week Create with Connie and Mary’s Thursday Challenge was a color challenge to use just Very Vanilla and Gold Glimmer.  I used the card I made for that challenge as the inspiration for this.  This is one of those…it looks sooooo much better in real life things!  The trees and the greeting are both gold embossed.  Yes…I did cut out all those trees.  I love to cut things out…it just makes me happy!  Again I used that plate that was sitting on my desk as the base of the design.  I ripped strips of Very Vanilla and Champagne Glimmer for the ‘snow’.  Oh..that ‘bow’…well, it is a template in My Digital Studio and that gold brad…yep…same as the silver one above only this is embossed with the gold embossing powder.

I hope you have enjoyed my totally non-functional ‘charger plates’!!!  Now it’s time to hop on over to my friend Connie Babbert at Inkspired Treasures and check out our totally fabulous projects!

Watercolor Winter

CAS 201 001The CAS challenge is a very pretty Christmas photo that has lovely country candles on it.  I do not have any Christmas style candle images to use but went instead with the feel of the photo (which for me was the Peace on Earth) and the greenery and berries.  I kept my card very simple with the holly and berry sprigs and a simple label.

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Very Vanilla.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla and added to the card base using dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting in Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke, punched with the Decorative Label and added using dimensionals.  Next I stamped the outline image using StazOn JetBlack and then the colored in parts using Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red.  I cut these out (yes, I am crazy!) and added to the card front to finish it off.

Set(s): Watercolor Winter, Greetings of the Season
Paper: Very Vanilla
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke
Other: Decorative Label Punch, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Christmas Bow

Here is another of the cards I did for the CAS 200th celebration last weekend.  The challenge was to use ribbon and bows on your card.  Lately I’ve been into making paper bows (got the template from My Digital Studio – LOVE IT!!!)  This is such a quick and easy card!

The base of the card is Very Vanilla.  I took a print from the Be of Good Cheer dsp added to the bottom and rounded the corners.  I added a piece of the Cherry Cobbler dsp from the same pack along the top.  I inked the greeting using Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler markers and stamped on card front.  I traced my template on the dsp, cut out, added a Gumball Green Dahlia to the center then added to the card front to finish it off.  Yep…it was THAT easy!

Set(s): More Merry Message
Paper: Very Vanilla, Be of Good Cheer dsp
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Other: Corner Rounder, Incolor Dahlias, My Digital Studio (where I got the pattern for the bow)

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Happy Christmas

This was a card we did as a make and take.  I promised my folks I would not only post it on my blog but also do a video (click here to access video) on how to make the paper pierced frame so they would have it as a reference.

The base of the card is Pool Party.  I took a piece of Whisper White and created the pierced frame using the Festive Paper Piercing pack and the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack. I added this to the card base.  Next I did medium snowflakes in Pool Party and Whisper White, small snowflake in Silver Glimmer, Silver Brad in the center and add to card front.  I stamped greeting in Versamark on Pool Party, silver embossed, punched with Decorative Label Punch and added using dimensionals to finish off.  Oh…such a simple card!

Ink: Versamark

Merry Medley

I hope you all are having a wonderful day today!  Me…well, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for school!  I am done next week!  WOOO HOOO!!!  (Oh course I have tons of work I need to get done during my 2 week break but I am soooo looking forward to a break…and maybe get some STAMPIN’! in!)

Speaking of stamping…I haven’t had a chance to do any thing week but I wanted to share a card I did last month for the SCS Creative Crew.  I realized I didn’t share this fun sparkly CAS card!  Here’s some quick details…

The base of the card is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White and pierced two ornaments on there (okay…you might need to click on the picture to see this a little easier!  It does look cool!)  Any way, I used the ornament framelits to cut an ornament out of red glimmer paper, punch a 1 1/4″ silver glimmer scallop circle then stamped the Merry Christmas in Versamark, silver embossed, punched with 3/4″ Circle Punch and added using a dimensional.  The ornament is added to the panel using dimensionals. I made a ‘bow’ (click tutorial link above to access this) using Whisper White Organza Ribbon and a Silver Glimmer Brad and added to the panel.  The panel is added to the card front using dimensionals.

Set(s): Mixed Medley
Paper: Whisper White, Red Glimmer, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Versamark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Basic Glimmer Brads, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Festive Paper Piercing Pack, 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Evergreen

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season so far!  When it comes to holiday cards, my very favorite color combination EVER is simple…white/silver.  Yep…that really just does it for me!  The CAS challenge on SCS is a fabulous sketch challenge.  The sketch was actually a square but when I decided to use this tree I needed to go with a regular sized card.  This is one simple card!

The base of the card is Whisper White.  I used the Delicate Designs Embossing folder (sort of looks like snowflakes) for a little interest in the background.  I made a notch in the top and wrapped around a piece of Whisper White Organza ribbon…the end are on the front and hidden behind the tree.  Next I embossed the loopy tree with Silver embossing powder on a piece of Whisper White.  I added this is a strip of Silver Glimmer.  Next I made a ‘bow’ (click the tutorial link above to see how I make my bows) using White Organza and Basic Glimmer Brads.  I added this to the strip then added the tree/silver strip to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped embossed the greeting also in silver, cut into a banner and added using dimensionals and glue dots.  I finished things off with a Silver Glimmer star on the top of the tree!

Set(s): Evergreen, More Merry Messages
Paper: Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Versamark
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Basic Glimmer Brads, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Delicate Designs Embossing Folder, Merry Minis Punch Pack, Dimensionals

Tour de Freaks – Nov

Welcome everyone to the November Tour de Freaks where that very special group of Control Freak Swaps share with everyone some unique ideas!  This month our theme is Chirstmas…HELLO…how can you resist that!  If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert’s blog – Inkspired Treasures.  Weren’t her project just ADORABLE?   And just so ‘Christmasy’!

And now for my projects.  I decided to share two small 3D projects with you.  The first is a fun little treat bag (filled with Candy Canes) that I made awhile back but decided to wait until the Christmas Freak hop to share with everyone.

I LOVED the glassine bags that came in the Ghoulish Ghouls kit…LOVED them!  So I took one and ran it through Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I CAREFULLY opened the bag and filled with little candy canes.  But Mary…you say….are some of those items RETIRED???  What are you doing using RETIRED stuff on a Tour de Freaks post.  Well, it’s like this…none of it is retired!  ALL the decorations on this bag are found in the Snowflake Season Simply Scrappin’ Layout Kit!  Yep…the red scrolling thingy, the tags, the pretty silver glimmer snowflake, the ivory satin ribbon and yep…the little clothespin!  WOOO HOOOO…nothing retired!  I just love how these items look on a little bag!

And now for my second little 3D item.  I was out looking around that big box M store and saw these CUTE little heart shaped ornaments and I said to myself “wouldn’t those be just DANG CUTE with the bottom embossed and a snowflake one them?”  So I came home and embossed the bottom of the ornament with white embossing powder (it sort of looks like snow in real life!).  Next I did the medium snowflake from the Snow Flurry Die in Silver Glimmer, the small snowflake in Whisper White, put them together with a Silver brad and added to the ornament using Glue Dots.  I tied a bow in the White Organza Ribbon, attached to the top of the ornament using Whisper White Baker’s Twine and then tied that into a hanger.  This is definitely one where the picture just does NOT do it justice…AT ALL!!!!

So that’s my little Christmas projects that i have to share with all of you!  Hope you enjoyed them!  Now it’s time to move on to Judy DiScipio’s – Judy Stamps site and be AMAZED by her delightful projects!

No Peeking

On Sundays Splitcoaststampers features and artist and their gallery.  When I looked to see who it was this week, it was Jen Mitchell!  Jen was on our Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge team AND is one of my favorite CAS (clean and simple) stampers!  I just couldn’t resist doing her card here (with my own twists of course).

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White and stamped the penguin in Basic Black and the greeting in Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler.  I stamped the hat and scarf separately.  The hat in Gumball Green and Real Red and the scarf in Real Red.  Next I pierced an ornament image (where Jen had a square), added a row of piercing as the ‘string’, then added a little piece of Gumball Green Stitched Ribbon to a Silver Brad and added to the top of the ornament.
