Swallowtail

DSC00586The color challenge today is very simple – Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Black.  Yep…that’s it.  Oh…and then Karen (the hostess this week wanted CAS (Clean and Simple or as she says CAC – Clean and Classy).  Well what can I say, that is right up my alley!  I couldn’t wait to join the fun!

I have been LOVIN’ the new Swallowtail background stamp.  I did not get it my first round of buying ‘stuff’ from the new mini and really didn’t have any plans for getting it.  Well, changed my mind and I LOVE IT!

Some quick notes before heading to bed…the base of the card is Crumb Cake.  I took a piece of Natural Cream, stamped the butterfly in Crumb Cake, layered onto Basic Black then added to the card base using dimensionals.  Next I took a strip of the Basic Black striped, cut into a banner and added a Very Vanilla Ribbon Lace scallop under it, added it to the card front and added a strip of Crumb Cake to it.  I stamped Oh Happy Day in Basic Black on Crumb Cake, punched with the Wide Oval Punch, layered onto a Very Vanilla Decorative Label punch then added to the card front using dimensionals.  Next was two Basic Black Bitty Butterflies (hmmm….say that fast a couple times!), added to the label the added some Basic Pearls to the butterflies and the Crumb Cake strip!  See…easy as can be.

conmarspring13promoAnd speaking of easy as can be…it’s really easy to sign up for Create with Connie and Mary Spring Edition 2013!  Yep…for $34.95 you get 30 incredible ideas that are great for stamp camps and classes and these projects are only seen by our subscribers…we do not share pictures of these projects anywhere on the Internet so you know they are exclusive! DSC00567The inspiration challenge this week is an Etsy store called Octo-purse.  I was just cruising through this when I saw this cute little purse.  I love when looking at it, it looked like the butterflies and circle spelled WOW.  Then I saw this cute little purse and loved the colors so you put the two together and you get my card!

Some quick notes…the base of the card is Whisper White.  I added a Pacific Point Banner and a Tempting Turquoise Banner.  Next I took another piece of Whisper White, ran it through the Clouds Embossing Folder then added to the card front using dimensionals.  I then made a banner out of Gumball Green, added a strip of Pacific Point, cut into a banner and add to the card front.  I stamped the “you’re the best” using Basic Black on Whisper White then cut out using the Label Framelit.  I tied on the Turquoise button using Whisper White Bakers Twine and added the label to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped the butterfly from Bloomin’ Marvelous using Gumball Green and Pacific Point, punched with the Bitty Butterfly and added to the card front using glue dots.

Dressed Up

Preview Cards 002Oh my…we are at the end of Preview Week for Create with Connie and Mary Spring Edition 2013!  My friend and partner Connie has a FABULOUS project for you and I made this card to go along with it!

I thought it would be fun to make a fancy ‘white’ dress.  The card is oval shaped and made with the scallop oval framelit (folded one on the back with a full one on top of it)…all in Whisper White.  Next I cut out the largest plain oval in Pink Pirouette dotted paper and added to the card base.  I made the Whisper White frame using large Scallop Oval and 2nd to largest plain oval.  I added this to the card front using dimensionals.  I did the dress in Whisper White and ran it through the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. I used the framelit to cut out piece of Silvery Glimmer and added to the dress.  I punched out the flower (Bitty Punches), snipped between the bumps and added to the dress using a Mini Silver Brad.  I did the dress form in Sahara Sand, added the dress to the form and added tot he card.  Finally I stamped the greeting in versamark on Pink Pirouette, embossed in silver and cut into a banner.  I made a ‘bow’ (click the tutorial tab above to access my tutorial) using Whisper White Organza  Ribbon and Silver Glimmer Brad.  I added the bow to the banner then to the card front.  I added some rhinestones to the frame to finish it off.

Some quick notes on this card.  The base of the card is 3 1/4 x 5 1/5 Whisper White.  I took a piece of the Pool Party dotted dsp, added to the bottom and rounded the bottom corners.  I took a piece of So Saffron (4 1/4″ long), cut into a banner, added a piece of Island Indigo then stamped the greeting using Island Indigo.  This banner is added to the card front.  I then punched a bunch of Bitty Butterflies from Whisper White and 2 each of So Saffron, Pool Party, Island Indigo.  These are all added to the card front using glue dots.  I added some Rhinestones to the colored butterflies to finish things off.

I found this cool layout on Pintrest (how many of our conversations start this way…LOL!) and thought it would be fun to change up.  LOVE this color combo!

The base of the card is Very Vanilla.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla and added a strip of Island Indigo dotted dsp.  This panel is added to the card base using dimensionals.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla and used the Finishing Touches Edgelit on it.  I stamped the greeting in Island Indigo.  I added a So Saffron button to a Pool Party banner and added it to the panel using Baker’s Twine then added the panel using dimensionals.  I punched out three Elegant Butterflies – Island Indigo, Pool Party, So Saffron.  Then I stamped the butterfly from the Bloomin’ Marvelous in the same three colors, punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch, added to the Elegant Butterflies then to the card front.  Finally I added a Basic Rhinestone to the center of each to finish it off.

challenges 006Oh…it’s Day 3 of Meet the Guest Designer for Create with Connie and Mary Spring Edition 2013!  Our guest designer today had been one of our team design team members in the past for our Thursday Challenges AND every time I read her bio I think of a song from the musical “The Music Man”.  It’s a song that has to do with the occupation of one of the people in the show.  Hmmmm….do you know who it is?  Our guest designer that is?

Well our Guest Designer was using some of the items from the SAB brochure so I thought I would to.  I seem to be in a bit of a ‘white mood’ recently…must be the snow sitting around is influencing me!  LOL!!!

Okay some quick notes…base of the card is Whisper White 4 1/4 x 4 1/4.  I took another piece and ran it through the Vine Street embossing folder (SAB) an added to the card front.  Next I cut the largest scallop square from the Scallop Square Duo Die and added pieces of the SAB ribbon behind it than added to the card front using dimensionals.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped the greeting from Bloomin’ Marvelous using Basic Grey and Island Indigo then added to the card front using dimensionals.  For my ‘flowers’, I punched out three 3/4″ Whisper White Scallop Circle pieces, snipped between the ‘petals’ and added one of the SAB buttons to each using Whisper White Bakers Twine.  I added these to the card front using dimensionals.
