Birthday Cake

TSSC283Happy Monday!  Boy…I could have used a couple more days to my weekend… that would have been sooo nice!  I have been busy working on projects for the upcoming sessions of Create with Connie and Mary Winter Collection 2013.  I did get my Preview Project done and can’t wait to share it with you NEXT MONDAY!!!  So make sure you come back then!

But THIS Monday I have another card for Mary Jo’s Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  This one WAS a challenge and I had to think and think and think.  Finally I turned the sketch on it’s side and it worked out just right!

The base of the card is Raspberry Ripple.  I took a piece of Crumb Cake and stamped the Birthday Cake in Crumb Cake, then I stamped the greeting using Bermuda Bay and Raspberry Ripple.  I took a piece of the the balloon print and cut into 1/2″ strips, cut them into banners then added to the card front.  I layered this on a piece of Very Vanilla, tied a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around it the added to the card front using dimensionals.  Finally I added a couple of Basic Rhinestones to add just a little bling to it.

TSSC283As you can see I did sort of follow this sketch if you look at it sideways!  I think that’s the best part about doing sketch challenges…it gives you a place to start!  We’d love to have you play along!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

Birthday Cake

DSC00511The SUO challenge this time is Birthday…WHEW…that was soooo much easier than our Back to School on last time!  I just LOVE the new thinlits and thought how fun it would be to use it for this challenge.  I won the Label Thinlits at convention and just got this one and wanted to have some fun with it.

Now…if you didn’t see my Halloween card I made here, and saw that I did a video on how to get the paper on the panels and cut out, check the video out hereDSC00506.

The base of the card is Raspberry Ripple.  I took the fun numbers print from the Birthday Basics dsp and added to the card base before cutting with the thinlit.  I trimmed 1/4″ off the top panel, added the Crisp Cantaloupe Large Scallop (to make it back to a full  4 1/4″ size card when closed) then added a thin strip of Basic Grey on top to finish it off.

I stamped the birthday card using Bermuda Bay, Basic Grey, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit markers on Very Vanilla, punched with the 1 3/4″ Circle punch, layered onto a Basic Grey Scallop (from the Circle Thinlits pack), added to a Bermuda Bay 2 1/2″ circle using dimensionals then added this to the swing panel on the card.  I added some rhinestones for a little birthday bling.  Next I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey on Summer Starfruit, cut with the banner thinlit that comes with the Circle pack and added to the front panel.

DSC00508For the inside ‘swing panel’, I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey and Crisp Cantaloupe on Very Vanilla, punched with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, layered on a Bermuda Bay Scallop (from the pack and added to the inside swing panel to finish it off.

Oh…these new thinlits are just so fun and easy to use!  I love how quickly you can put together a ‘card that moves’ using them.  Both of them are fun with just some different accessories in each pack.  You can’t have just one!

So check out what the others have done for the SUO Birthday Challenge and join the fun!

Happy Thursday everyone and we have a special Challenge for you this time for the CCMC260Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  Since convention is right around the corner, and both Connie and I are going – WOOO HOOO!!!  we are having a special 2 WEEK CHALLENGE!  But…to make it special…we have a color challenge AND a sketch challenge.  But there’s more…for the sketch challenge…you need to make it a shaped card…anything but a square or rectangle!  As you can see…I decided to do both!

I used the Oval Accents die for the Base.  I folded a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe in half then ran through the die.  I then took a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Corrdinations, ran it through the die, then ran it through the Stripes Embossing folder, sanded it then added to the card base.  I added a Calypso Coral Deco Label framelit piece using Dimensionals, then a Whisper White Oval.  I stamped the greeting of Pistachio Pudding using Basic Grey and added it and a Calypso Coral dotted banner to the card front.  I stamped the cake using Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Calypso Coral, cut out and added using dimensionals.  I finished it off with some Basic Rhinestones
