Summer Silhouettes

CCMC306Well now, here’s a set I haven’t used in quite some time!  It’s that weird time of the catalog year where my new stuff has been ORDERED but won’t be in until later today!  So I decided for the color challenge on Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge that I would pull out a set that hasn’t seen much ink in quite some time!

I’m glad I did pull it out!  I think it worked out perfectly for the challenge this week and such a happy little card!

Here’s the details…

  • Coastal Cabana – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4.  Stamp leave/stem using Wild Wasabi.  Stamp the additional small stem with same ink.  Stamp lattice border using Coastal Cabana and greeting in Perfect Plum.
  • Layer onto Perfect Plum 4 5/8 x 3 3/8.  Wrap piece of Coastal Cabana twin around it and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp flowers using Perfect Plum on Whisper White, cut out, curl petals and add using dimensionals.  Add Basic Rhinestone to center of each.
  • Tie Coastal Cabana twine in a purple Regals button.  Add dimensional to back and add to card front.

Head on over to Create with Connie and Mary and check out what the design team did with this week’s challenge!

CASInColorsThe new incolors are just SOOOO rich!  Now don’t get me wrong…I LOVE the current ones (Cantaloupe, Pistachio, etc) but these are so pretty too!

I had this idea for a card I wanted to do for the last Create with Connie and Mary color challenge.  I had the layout in my head but then ended up going with a  different layout to use the color challenge.  Then I got in my new incolors and I still wanted to play around with the design in my head and came up with this.  Then I see that layout worked with the Around the World sketch challenge.  Isn’t that cool when that happens!

Here’s the details:

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 1 /2 x 3 1/4
  • Stamp the greeting using Basic Black
  • Cut small pieces of three of the new incolor stitched satin ribbon (Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow), clip ends, fold in half and add behind panel.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Take strips of Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, and Mossy Meadow.  Punch out a flower using the new Itty Bitty Accent Punch then cut out using the smallest Square Framelit.
  • Add the Squares to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Add Rhinestones to the center of each flower to finish it off.

Quick and easy and really shows off these three NEW incolors!

Set(s): A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Stitched Satin Ribbon (Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow), Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Squares Framelits, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Old and New

CAS271The CAS challenge this week is to CASE something from Arizona Maine’s gallery.  I just LOVE her work and picked this card.

I decided to do a bit of things that are retiring (the Tasteful Trim XL Die, Little Leaves Sizzlit and Jumbo Rhinestones), things that are staying (Pansy Punch, Petite Petals Punch, A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set, Basic Rhinestones) and things that are NEW (as in new incolors – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow)

This is just such an easy card…here’s the details…

  • Whisper White 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Zig zag from the Tasteful trim die – 5 strips in Whisper White add with Tombow glue
  • Stamp greeting using StazOn Jet Black
  • Flowers:  Lost Lagoon and Blueberry Bliss – Pansy Punch and Petite Petal.  Cut out 3 of the Little Leaves sizzlits in Mossy Meadow, add to back of flowers.  Add Lost Lagoon one directly to card and Blueberry Bliss using dimensionals.
  • Add Jumbo Rhinestones to the centers of the flowers and additional basic rhinestones for a little extra bling.
Set(s): A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow (all new incolors)
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Other: Pansy Punch, Petite Punch, Tasteful Trim XL Die, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Jumbo Rhinestones Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

PansiesI  had been seeing these wonderful pansies all over Pinterest and had decided to do them for a workshop in February.

I waned to showcase the Decorative Dots embossing folder (soooo glad that is coming back) and the Scallop Tag Topper (SOOOOO glad that is STAYING!) and then just wanted to make a happy card with the purple and yellow (and speaking of purple…oh my…the NEW Blueberry Bliss incolor is BEYOND YUMMY!!!!)

Here’s the details:

  • Daffodil Delight 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, run through Decorative Dot Embossing folder, layer onto Elegant Eggplant 3 3/4 x 5.
  • Add Elegant Eggplant 3 5/8 x 1 1/2 dsp print to panel.
  • Whisper White 2 x 3 1/2.  Punch EACH END using the Scallop Tag Topper.  Stamp greeting using Wild Wasabi, add Daffodil Delight Seam Binding through the holed and wrap around panel.  Add panel to card front.
  • Make two pansies:  EACH Pansy Punch – Daffodil Delight (3 petals), Elegant Eggplant (2 petal), add to 1/2″ Daffodil Delight circle.  Wild Wasabi (Pansy Punch – 2 petals).  Add to back of Pansy.  Use Elegant Eggplant marker to add lines.  Add rhinestone to center of flower to finish off.
  • Add pansies to card front to finish.

Remember…you only have about a month to get retired items!  ALL retiring items (including stamp sets) are ‘as supplies last’ so if there is something you want, don’t delay!

CAS270I really liked the CAS challenge for this week which is simply stars.  I wish we had more stars to work with but I was able to use the star in Perfect Pennant for the larger star and then punch out some of the small stars from the Merry Mini Punch Pack.  I decided to go very simply with the colors tool

Here’s the details:

  • Whisper White:  4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Punch out some Whisper White stars and add to card front
  • Smoky Slate:  4 1/4 x 1 1/2.  Stamp greeting using Versamark, white emboss.
  • Stamp star in Versamark on Smoky Slate, white emboss cut out and add using dimensionals.
  • Add some of the smallest basic rhinestones.
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals to finish it off.

Yep…that really is all there is to this!

A Dozen Thoughts

CCMC299Happy Thursday everyone!  It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and we have such a great sketch challenge for you!

So you ever get caught up in using all your ‘new’ stuff that the ‘old’ tried and true just doesn’t get used?  Yep…that happens to me too!  As I sat down to work on my card for today I thought about some of my stuff that sometimes get overlooked in favor of bright, shiny, and new!  So…I decided to pull out my faithful old 2-step bird punch and feature it on my card today!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 5 1/8 x 3 7/8.
  • Cut out 3 of the 2nd to smallest square framelits from the Blushing Bride dsp.  Round the corners and add to the card front.
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 4.  Stamp greeting using Basic Grey, cut into a banner and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Punch out 4 of the leaves/stems from Pistachio Pudding, sponge edges in Pistachio Pudding then add to card front.  Punch bird and 2 wings out of Blushing Bride.  Run wings through the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, sponge all the edges.  Add wings to the bird then add bird to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add medium basic pearl to the bird as the eye to finish it off.

Zoo Babies Favor

Wk2ZooBabiesFavorHappy Saturday everyone!  I can’t believe it…it’s been positively springlike around…especially that April Showers part!

It’s the end of Week 2 for Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions 2014 and on Saturdays the design team makes a little favor/3D to go along with the card set they did for the subscribers.  This past week I used Zoo Babies….I set I’ve had for awhile but only PUT IT TOGETHER and USED IT for the FIRST TIME when I made my card set.  (And I got the set right after the new catalog came out last year!)  But it truly has been put to good use this week between my card set for Card “Create”tions, a couple other cards and now my little favor.  For my card set I paired the Zoo Babies set with the A Dozen Thoughts set then with the I Am Me dsp so I used all those things for my little favor too!

Here’s the details…

  • Basic Grey Chevron dsp (from I Am Me dsp) – 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.  Along the 8 1/2 side score at 3 5/8 and 4 7/8.  Along the 5 1/2 side score at 1 1/4 x 4 1/4.  (See picture for all scoring/folding)  Fold into treat holder.
  • Calypso Coral – 1/2 x 6 3/4, wrap around top overlapping in the front.
  • Add Calypso Coral Button to the belly band using White Baker’s twine then slip over top to hold favor together.
  • Cut out Whisper White tag from Chalk Talk Framelits.  Stamp hello in Calypso Coral (I did stamp off before stamping each of this color) and Smoky Slate.
  • Stamp Elephant two times in Calypso Coral and Rhino two times in Basic Grey.  Cut out full elephant of one and ear of other.  Add with dimensional.  Cut out full rhino of one and head of the other and add with dimensional.  Add both to tag using dimensionals.
  • Slip tag over button to add to favor and viola!!!  You are done!  Nice and easy!

A Dozen Thoughts

CAS267The CAS challenge this week is to use dry embossing.  I thought and thought about this and decided to do a couple things different with this challenge.  First…instead of using white as my base color, I decided to go with Pool Party.  The other thing is that the challenge is to use dry embossing.  I wanted to keep my card very clean so I went with just the simple cross stitch line of dry embossing.  I think that overall it ended up being a very clean and a little different card!

Here’s the details…

  • Pool Party – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Pool Party 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, run through the Cross Stitch Needlepoint Embossing Folder.  Stamp the greeting in Basic Grey.  Add to Whisper White 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 and add this layer to the card base using dimensionals.
  • Punch 3 Whisper White Petite Punch flowers.  Punch also from Pear Pizzazz and cut to make leaves.  Add to the back of the flowers.  Punch the 4 petal Itty Bitty Punch from Island Indigo and add to center of each flower.  Add a Pool Party Candy Dot to the center of each flower.  Add flowers to card front using either glue dots or dimensionals.
