You’ve Been Boo’d

Before you know it Halloween will be here! WOW!  (Then it’s all down hill from there…LOL!!!)  This week the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team is getting into the Halloween spirits with cards that have the word BOO on there.  So…you’ve been boo’d!

This was one of those cards that started as one thing (a simple CAS card with a spider made from a pumpkin) and ended up with this…which I just LOVE!  You just never know where that creative process is going to take you!  LOL!!!

Here’s the details…

  • Pumpkin Pie – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Pumpkin Pie – 2 3/4 x 5 1/4, run through the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder and add to card front
  • Spooky Nights dsp – striped print – 1 x 5 1/2, add to card front
  • Spooky Nights dsp – dotted print 2 3/4 x 4, layer onto Very Vanilla – 2 7/8 x 4 1/8, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Tangerine Tango – cut out the letter B and two of the long pumpkin (Pattern Pumpkin Thinlets) and add to the card front
  • Decorate the pumpkin with eyes (Basic Black 1/4″ hole punch, Whisper White 1/8″ hole punch) and mouth (Basic Black 1/2 of a 1/4″ hole punch), Old Olive pumpkin stems, leaves and curly thingy, draw eyebrows with black pen
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 1 1/4, stamp greeting , cut into a banner and add to card front using dimensionals

Is that about as fun as it can be?  I thought so!

Non-Traditional Fall Colors

WOW…happy October!  I do think it might FINALLY be getting around to fall around it.  Maybe…but then again, it’s Ohio…maybe NOT!  It is staying dark so much longer in the morning and getting darker sooner at night.

But Fall IS here and this week the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog hop is celebrating Fall using non-traditional colors!  FUN!!!

This is such a pretty color combo…Peek-a-boo Peach, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate!  I think it still gives off a ‘fall’ feel even without the traditional red, orange and yellow.  This is a really easy card…especially when you have some of the pieces already sitting on top of your desk!

Here’s the details…

  • Peek-a-boo Peach – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp greeting using Night of Navy
  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 4 1/2, cut along bottom with Swirly Snowflake thinlit edge, add to card front
  • Night of Navy, Smoky Slate – cut out detailed leaf
  • Peek-a-boo Peach – cut out solid leaf, all add three to card front
  • Tie Night of Navy Gingham ribbon into bow and add to card front to finish it off.

I just LOVE the edge you get from that Swirly Snowflake set…just so PRETTY!  And pretty is a GREAT way to describe the cool ideas in the new Create with Connie and Mary October Mini Edition!   We are opening on October 11th!

Fun Edge Card

Welcome to another FUN Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  And speaking of FUN our theme for this week is a card with a FUN edge (not the regular straight edges.  Well…I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with this one!

I LOVE the edge in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets and knew I wanted to use that to create my fun edge but that I didn’t want it with snowflakes.  With October right around the corner, I pulled out my Support Ribbon Framelits and Ribbon of Courage set to pair with it.  Here’s the details…

  • Flirty Flamingo – 4 1/4 x 11, fold at 5 1/2 leaving the front flap 4 1/2 long
  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, cut the bottom edge using the Swirly Snowflake edge and add to card front
  • Smoky Slate – 1/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Flirty Flamingo – cut out three flowers from the Support Ribbon Framelit set, add to card front
  • Stamp greeting using Smoky Slate
  • Add Perfect White Accents to the center of each flower to finish off.

Here’s a picture of it closed so you can see how the inside of the card shows through.

How AWESOME is that!

Set(s): Ribbon of Courage
Paper: Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Flirty Flamingo
Ink: Smoky Slate
