Color It

WI15SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is Color It.  Can you believe it…it’s the last Saturday in February!  And yesterday in Ohio…it was 73 degrees!

Okay…before I get to my card, I need to apologize.  On a good day I’m REALLY bad at water coloring.  When I am sick I am TRULY HORRIBLE at water coloring.  Been fighting bronchitis for 4 weeks now and half the time I think I’m losing.  So…this was the best I could do and I do apologize!  TOTALLY uninspired!  But I know the rest of the team did a TERRIFIC job on theirs!

So Very Much

suo168Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Can you believe it … it’s time for another SUO challenge and our theme this time is Sale-a-bration Fun.   I just got the So Very Much set and wanted to pair that with the Avant Garden set.

In the beginning of January I made this cool card…Avant Garden…and wanted to build on that when I made this card.

I was working on cards for my upcoming stamping group so decided to make something that I could use a a make and take for that even.  I LOVE the way this turned out.

Here’s the details…

  • Flirty Flamingo – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp ‘splatter using Flirty Flamingo
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 1/4, stamp Thank You and so very much in Night of Navy, stamp flower using Flirty Flamingo (one full strength and one stamped off once) stamp leaves using Pear Pizzazz and flower center using Smoky Slate
  • Basic Black – 1/2 x 4 1/4, add behind Whisper White panel
  • Half of the doily (white side up) – add behind the Whisper White panel and add to card front
  • Add piece of the Pear Pizzazz Tasty Treats washi tape to finish it off

Is that a fun and simple card!

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Avant Garden

ccmc440Are you having a good January?  Are you Sale-a-brating?  If you haven’t sale-a-brated yet, now is a great time!

I’m such a pushover for a great flower set and I just love the Avant Garden set in the the SAB brochure.  Mostly I love the ‘watercolor’ looking pieces…not so much the line one…have to play with that some.  When I was trying to decide on a set for the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge this week – Real Red, Kraft (or Crumb Cake) and Black.  Originally I was going to a ‘Valentine’ card but Connie did one and I went in a different direction.

Here’s the details –

  • Real Red – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded, round the bottom left corner
  • Kraft – okay this piece was on my desk and just worked – 4 1/4 x 4 1/2, cut the edge or the left side on angles (you can see from the picture it’s not straight across) add to card front
  • Basic Black – 1/4 x 5 1/2 add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp flower in Real Red twice – once ‘full strength’ and one stamped off, flower center – once “full strength” in Memento Black and once stamped off, stamp ‘splatter’ in Crumb Cake and greeting in Memento Black; round bottom left corner and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Take the backs off some Perfect White Accents and add to card front using Tombow Glue –  I love the clear look you get when you take the back off these!

With Sale-a-bration in full swing, the Freaks decided to celebration Sale-a-bration!  Are you ever in for a treat!  The freaks REALLY know how to Sale-a-brate!  If you are going forward through the hop you arrived here from Mindy Backes’ blog and her EXCELLENT projects!

I had REALLY wanted to use the Hello set but since that is now retired and I don’t have any of the ‘new’ items I decided to go with the Botanicals for You set.  This is a fun set and I decided to keep the look simple but use a lot of cutting things out (my VERY FAVORITE thing to do) to give it that little extra!

What I Love

SUO142I really love this flower in the What I Love SAB set!  You can get really cool depth in the look of your flowers and by using just the stamping off technique, you can really all your colors to match!  I like when colors match!

So…it is Tuesday and it time for another SUO Challenge.  This time our theme was to use SAB items!  With some of my FAVORITE ones having just retired (so that new ones could come out), I decided to go this is GREAT flower set and the SAB dsp.

Here’s the details …

  • Hello Honey – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Wildflower Fields dsp – 1 1/2 x  1/2, add to card front
  • Whisper White – flowers (stamp 2 of each color) were done using Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral and Hello Honey.  Use the stamping off technique to get the layers of color, leaves – Mossy Meadow outline color with Pear Pizzazz Marker, cut everything out and layer
  • Whisper White – 4 x 5 1/2, use the leaf border from the Botanical Builder Thinlet set
  • I laid the flowers on the panel (not adhering yet) so that I could stamp the greeting using Basic Black Archival; once stamped, add the flowers with the yellow one added using dimensionals
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Add White Perfect Accents to the centers of the flowers to finish off!

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!
