Lovely Inside and Out

So…are you enjoying the new catalog?  This is always such a fun time of year as everyone gets NEW stuff and those creative juices start to really flow.

One thing that is always fun about the new catalog is seeing the new incolors.  I love that now we have the new incolors for 2 years at a time instead of just 1.  Sometimes it takes me awhile to ‘warm up’ to colors and when we only had them a year, by the time I was finally liking them, they were gone.  For me it seems like every other year I REALLY like the incolors.  Should I mention that I LOVE last year’s incolors?  This is going to be one of those years that it takes me a while to warm up to them.  This is for the Fab Friday 114.

One thing I like to do when I get the new incolors is to make a card for my stamping group using all the colors on one card.  Sometimes this is easy (aka LAST YEAR) and sometimes this is REALLY DIFFICULT (aka THIS YEAR!).  But I did manage to do it and and here’s the card I came up with.  Overall not too bad.

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, stamp ‘flower’ in Powder Pink, FRIEND in Lemon Lime Twist and FOR A GREAT in Fresh Fig, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – stamp ‘flower’ in Berry Burst and two ‘leaves’ in Tranquil Tide, cut out flower using Layering Circle framelit and cut out leaves by hand, layer and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.

Special Reason

pp331I LOVE this set!  No…really I do!  It is one of the coolest looking flowers and I just LOVE flowers.

I’ve been fighting bronchitis the last couple of weeks (I think it is winning) and this weekend I needed to get caught up on some cards to post and put together some make and takes for my craft group.  I decided that I’d just have my cards do double purpose!

We did this card last night and the ladies just loved it.  The cool thing is you can flip it and it looks just as nice!  I decided to use the color challenge from The Paper Players for this.

Here’s the details…

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Blushing Bride – 3 3/4 x 5, run through the Falling Petals Embossing folder and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Add Vanilla side of Lace Doily
  • Copper Foil – 3/4 x 4, cut into banner, add to card front
  • Smoky Slate – 1/4 x 4 1/8, cut ends on diagonal, add to card front
  • Very Vanilla – punch out 2″ circle, stamp greeting in Smoky Slate, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Very Vanilla – stamp small flower in Blushing Bride, cut out with framelit
  • Small open leaf – cut out in Copper Foil and Smoky Slate, add behind flower and add to card front to finish it off

What a different color combo…just LOVED it!

Special Reason

cas410It’s so nice having a long weekend!  AND still have another day off.  The CAS challenge on SCS is to use new stuff…THAT’s an easy one!  The problem is figuring out which of my new things to use!

I LOVE the Special Reason set and matching thinlits…the flowers are just so awesome!  I decided to keep things nice and simple.  And I just love soft pink flowers.  It’s hard to see from the picture but I used vellum behind flower and sponged the pink on there so I could have different shades of pink.

Here’s the detail…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and layer onto Pink Pirouette 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – cut out flower outline
  • Vellum – cut out the full flower, turn over and sponge using Flirty Flamingo, ad the outline on the front and add to card front
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/8 x 2 5/8, cut on a slant and add to card front
  • Pink Pirouette – 3/8 x 2 1/4, stamp greeting using Basic Grey, cut into a banner and add to card front
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish off.

Movement Christmas Cards

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Yep…it’s time for our second Christmas theme for the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop.  This week it is movement cards and I decided to go with a shaker card.  This was one I did as a make and take with my stamping group and really loved the way it turned out!

sathopshaker

It’s sooooo hard to get a good shot of a shaker card so that all the little pieces aren’t at the bottom – LOL!!!  I ended up laying this one down to show the ‘shaker stuff’ better!

Here’s the details…

  • Pool Party – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Sweet Sugarplum – 3 3/4 x 5, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp greeting using Sweet Sugarplum and swirl using Pool Party, cut out open star
  • Window Sheet – 3 3/8 x 4, add to BACK of the panel, tap with embossing buddy, add foam strips around the star to create pocket for the sequins, tap embossing buddy around the exposed stick part are the inside side of the foam strip to help sequins to not stick, add sequins, remove back from the foam strips
  • Whisper White – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, add to back of shaker card then add shaker panel to card front
  • Add some sequins to the card front to finish off

Don’t you just LOVE shaker cards…and so easy to make!

Set(s): Star of Light
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Sweet Sugarplum
Ink: Pool Party, Sweet Sugarplum
Other: Starlight Thinlits, Fancy Frost Sequins, Window Sheet, Foam Adhesive Strips, Embossing Buddy, Dimensionals

For my card C is for Christmas, A is for Aqua (pool party is aqua…right?), S is for Silver, Sparkle and Snow!

The little tree is what is ‘left over’ from the tree ornament in the Merry Tags Thinlits…I thought it just made the CUTEST little tree!

  • Whisper White – 4 x 4, run through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, wrap two pieces of the Silver 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around panel and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, stamp merry using Versamark and Silver emboss
  • Cut out the Tree Ornament from the Merry Tags set, carefully add the ‘leftover’ pieces to the panel
  • Punch out 4 Pool Party 1/8″ circles and add to tree
  • Layer onto Pool Party 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 and add to card front using dimensionals
 Set(s): Holly Jolly Greetings

Paisleys & Posies

paisleyleavesI LOVE leaves…no…really I do!  It is right up there with trees.  I LOVE trees.  Okay the fact the trees have leaves, well, that probably have something to do with it!

I was looking for a challenge to join in and saw the challenge on The Paper Players was leaf and what can I say…I just HAD to join in the fun!

Well…then to figure out what leaf to use….hmmm…my new favorite set (Paisleys & Posies) had TWO leaves in it…JACKPOT!!! So I got to work and this is what I came up with!

Here’s the details

  • Mint Macaron – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Mint Macaron print – 1 1/2 x 4 1/4, add to bottom of card front, wrap piece of Delight Dijon 3/8″ grosgrain ribbon around the card front (ends are under the panel on the front).
  • Very Vanilla – 3 1/4 x 4 1/2, stamp dotted paisley using Versamark and gold emboss, layer on Rich Razzleberry – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8 and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Sweet Sugarplum – 3/8 x 1 3/4, stamp greeting using Basic Black, cut into a banner and add to card front
  • Stamp large leaf 3 times using Momento Black, color using Rich Razzleberry, Delightful Dijon and Mint Macaron markers, cut out (sorry…no framelit for this one, have to cut out!), layer and add over end of banner
