And now on to my card for today…

PartridgeI don’t know what it is about the Christmas/Holiday season but I just HAVE to pull out all my embossing powders and work with them when I’m making holiday cards.  I bought this set shortly after the holiday mini came out but had used it yet so thought it would be perfect for a card for Day 1 of Preview Week!

I didn’t want to spend a lot of time coloring (and my Old Olive Blendabilities are pack up for a workshop this afternoon) so I decided to go with a very simple, and non-traditional Christmas card look!

Here’s the details –

  • Night of Navy – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Moonlight dsp paper stack – Hello Honey grid design – 5 x 3 1/4 and add to card front
  • Very Vanilla – 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 (and extra piece to stamp and emboss image second time) – stamp with Versamark and gold emboss, Color the ‘berries’ using the lightest Night of Navy Blendabilities.  Add to card front using dimensionals
  • On second piece stamp in Versamark and gold emboss again.  Color the pears using the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities and the Partridge was done using the lightest Night of Navy, Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake Blendabailities
  • Marina Mist – 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Stamp greeting using versamark and gold emboss.  Add to card front using a double stack of dimensionals in the middle of the banner.
  • Add largest Gold Basic Metal Button using glue dots
  • Tie a bow in a piece of the Gold/Vanilla Baker’s Twine and add to button using a little glue

Now don’t forget to head on over to Create with Connie and Mary to check out who our FABULOUS guest designers are and sign up for Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Collection 2014 for only $24.95!

For All Things

SUO105Oh…it’s time for another SUO challenge and this time our theme is embellishments.  I’m also doing this for The Paper Players Happy Fall Y’ All challenge.

I do love Fall…I love the colors  of fall! When trying to decide what to do for the SUO challenge I thought about using the Little Letters framelits to cut out the word Fall and then decorating it from there.

Here’s the details –

  • Tangelo Twist – 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 folded
  • Kraft – 3 5/8 x 3 5/8.  Cut out FALL using Little Letters framelits then add a piece of the candy corn dsp (Motley Monsters dsp) 1 1/2 c 3 1/4 behind it.
  • Layer onto Basic Black 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Crushed Curry 1/2 x 1 3/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into banner and add to card front.
  • Take open oak leaf, press into StazOn Jet Black and let dry
  • For the solid oak leaf color using the Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities – it works REALLY nicely!
  • Add solid leaf to open leaf and add to card front.
  • Tie knot in piece of Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon and add using a glue dot.
  • Add Basic Black, Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry Candy Dots under the word FALL to finish it off.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see which one they picked!

Flower Patch

TLC489This morning I decided to stop by the Technique Challenge on SCS just to see what it was.  I usually don’t play along with that one but for some reason this really caught my eye.  You were to use and embossing folder then color on it.  Now this isn’t the same as adding color to the embossing folder then embossing.  This is coloring AFTER you do the embossing.  I decided to use my blendabilities.  I think it looks cool but because the fibers in the cardstock breakdown some where the embossing is…the color from the blendabilities really does spread.  But cool…fun look!

Here’s the details…

  • Daffodil Delight – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run through the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder
  • Color with the Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Blendabilities
  • Layer onto Pumpkin Pie – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Basic Black – 1/4 x 3 1/2 – add to card front
  • Daffodil Delight – 3/4 x 3 1/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into banner and add using dimensionals in the center
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.

Is that fun?

Bloom with Hope

Bloom2The CAS challenge is such a great on…May flowers!  How can you resist a great theme like that…I know I couldn’t!

Okay…I will have to say that I cheated just a little bit with this one.  I had the flower done and ‘sitting on top of my desk’.  You all know how much I like to create that way!

I will have to say I struggle a bit with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities but I think this one turned out pretty good.

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 11 folded.
  • Whisper White – 3 /2 x 4 1/4, run through Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and add to card front.
  • Calypso Coral – 4 1/4 x 1 1/2.  Cut into a banner.  Add a strip of Calypso Coral Chevron dsp 1/4 x 4 1/4.  Stamp greeting using Memento Black.
  • Wrap piece of Coastal Cabana twine around banner and add to card front using dimensionals.  Tie bow with the Coastal Cabana twine and add to banner.
  • Stamp flower using Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  Color flower using Coastal Cabana Blendabilities and center using the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.  Cut out and add to card front using dimensionals.

Oh…I just love using this set and coloring it in with the Blendabilities…just such fun!

Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Subtles dsp paper pack
Ink: Memento Black, Blendabilities: Coastal Cabana set, Daffodil Delight set.

CCMC303Can you  believe it?  It’s time for ANOTHER Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and we have a fun and easy sketch challenge for you!

I knew when I saw this challenge that I wanted to use the new hostess set Bloom with Hope.  I bought this set specifically so that I could use my new Blendability markers with it and I must say…Bendabilities and Bloom with Hope go absolutely perfectly together!  This is another card that I mixed together blendabilities from different sets – Cherry Cobbler Medium and Pumpkin Pie Medium and Light.  I also used Daffodil Delight and Old Olive sets.  WAAAAY cool!

Here’s the details….

  • Hello Honey (new incolor) – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Lullaby (new dsp) – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, layer onto Tangerine Tango 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 and add to card front.
  • Tangerine Tango 5/8 x 3 1/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into flag and add to card front.

Pleasant Poppies

TSSC314Happy Monday!  It’s time for another Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge and Mary Jo has a nice easy one for us!  I knew when I saw it I wanted to use something that would let me use my new Blendabilities some.  Then I remembered my Pleasant Poppies background stamp that I haven’t used in FOREVER so I figured it would work.

Now one of the things about the blendabilities is that when you buy them you get a set of 3 shades of one color.  But remember….you don’t have to use just those colors together.  My friend Jackie played around some mixing the medium colors of markers and I thought I’d just mix them up a bit too.  For the flowers on this card I used the Cherry Cobbler Medium and Light and the Pumpkin Pie Medium.  I think I was able to get a cool poppy color doing that.

Here’s the details:

  • Tangerine Tango – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Tangerine Tango dsp Paper Pack – 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 layered onto Whisper White 4 x 4.
  • Tie a piece of the NEW Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon around the panel and add to card front.
  • Whisper White 2 1/2 x 3 5/8.  Stamp Pleasant Poppies using Memento Black Ink, color with Cherry Cobbler Medium and Light and Pumpkin Pie Medium Blendabilities and stems with Old Olive Medium and Light Blendabilities.  Round bottom corners and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting using Basic Grey on So Saffron.  Punch ends using Modern Label punch.  Add to card front using dimensionals.

TSSC314Isn’t this just a FABULOUS sketch?  I thought so!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

SunflowersAs you know demonstrators were able to order some preview products from the NEW CATALOG!  Oh…I just LOVE this time of year…I have been soooo in need of new stuff to get my creative juices going again.

I was really looking forward to being able to order some of the new Blendabilities and then decided to order on of the new hostess sets so I’d have something cool to color!  I decided to wanted to start with this fun flower (and I got to do LOTS of cutting out…my VERY favorite thing to do.

So…decided to combine my fun new hostess set and blendabilities with some cool things that are retiring and here is what I got.

  • Next add Whisper White 1 1/2 x 3 1/2…stamp greeting using Memento Black ink.  Add some of the Gingham Garden Washi Tape.
