Don’t Be Square

What a fun theme we have for you today for our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – “Don’t Be Square”…card that are NOT square or rectangular. This was a bit of a challenge as we really don’t have any larger framelits that can be used so mine is a little card but I think it turned out cute!

Isn’t that ADORABLE?  I used the ribbon framelit to make the base of my card.  I sometimes get asked how you do it and have the top of the card not be flattened.  Here’s a mini tutorial (I used Flirty Flamingo)…

Take piece of Flirty Flamingo 2 1/2 x 6 1/2, fold in half, cut out using Ribbon Framelit positioning the framelit as shown in picture above.

Once cute out the “card base” looks like the picture above when open.

Now cut out a single full one and layer on top.  It now opens as a card but is the full ribbon on top.

Here’s the rest of the details…

  • Whisper White – cut out flower
  • Pear Pizzazz – cut out two leave layer behind flower
  • Whisper White – stamp greeting using Flirty Flamingo and Basic Black marker, punch out using 1 3/8″ circle, layer onto scalloped circle (Flirty Flamingo) from the Layering Circles Framelits; layer everything together and add to front of ribbon using dimensionals

Don’t forget…we are offering a cool Brusho Techniques Collection…you WANT this one!

It’s Thursday and you know what that means…time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge! This week we have a a great sketch challenge.  This is just an AWESOME sketch and so easy to use!

This time of the Stampin’ UP! catalog year, I try to start using more of the things form the annual catalog instead of the mini.  What to get some extra use out of thing before they retire.  I don’t have any idea what will be retiring but I DO know that this wonder dsp will be!

Here’s the details…

  • Dapper Denim – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Eastern Palace dsp – 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, cut one strip 1 3/8 then cut the other one 1/8 less then cut in half, add to piece of Lemon Lime Twist 3 1/ x 3 3/8, add to card front.
  • Dapper Denim – cut out the 4 point Medallion, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Gold Foil – cut out the “flower” add to card front, add Dapper Denim circle to center using dimensionals (I cut out another flower in Dapper Denim then cut out the circle), add to center of gold flower then add to 4 pointed medallion.
  • Lemon Lime Twist – stamp greeting using Dapper Denim, punch out using Classic Label Punch, add to card front using dimensionals.

Paisleys and Posies

It’s MONDAY!!! The best part of Monday is it’s time for another Inspiration Monday for Create with Connie and Mary.  The bad news is always massive amounts of grading for school!  (Summer IS right around the corner though!)

So here’s our inspiration picture…

I took a little ‘artist’ license on this one…I used the scattered gold area as my main inspiration and but use the panel in the center it gives it sort of the longer look.

Here’s the details…

  • Dapper Denim – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 5 1/2  – stamp larger image in Versamark and gold emboss, stamp small image using Dapper Denim, stamp leaf image in Lemon Lime Twist, stamp greeting in Dapper Denim
  • Gold Foil – two pieces 1/2 x 5 1/2, add behind each side of Whisper White panel, add to card front

VERY simple card!  Those are always the best!

Did you know that TODAY IS THE DAY?  Why yes it is…TODAY is the day we release a new Create with Connie and Mary Collection.  And OH MY…we have a fun, and different one for you…
