Birthday Blooms

Happy Tuesday everyone!  This is going to be short and sweet…still fighting the pneumonia…not much energy for anything.

It’s time for another SUO challenge and this time our theme is a favorite sentiment.  There are so many from which to choose but I decided to go with this one “Dear Friend”.  Okay…I will confess, I do really like this greeting but with being so under the weather, this was also a card I already had done.  This was a card I made when I first got my blends.

Here’s the details…

  • Pink Pirouette – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Pink Pirouette – 3 3/4 x 5, run bottom part through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and stamp the top part with the little dots in Pink Pirouette, add to card front
  • Coffee Break dsp – striped print – 1/4 x 5 1/2, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 3/4 x 4 3/4, stamp greeting using Memento Black; add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – stamp image using Memento Black, color using the Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Blends, cut out and add to card front using dimensionals

So that’s it…

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Oh it’s Thursday!  I’m so glad it is!  Not only is it Friday Eve but we have an AWESOME sketch inspiration for you on Create with Connie and Mary!

I will be honestly…had a hard time getting this one done, not because of the sketch (AWESOME SKETCH!) but what started as flu over the weekend turned into some nasty pneumonia by Tuesday.  So I’ve been pretty much down for the count.  You know it is bad when I cancel all of my stuff at school!

So back to the card…I hadn’t used my little panda guys for a while so thought they would be perfect for the sketch.  Here’s the details…

  • Silver glimmer – 1/4 x 4 1/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – stamp the two pandas in Memento Black, cut out.  Trim the string by the panda and make the string short (just didn’t want that balloon so high up on my card); color had using Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst, Peek-a-boo Peach, add pandas to card front using dimensionals
  • Bermuda Bay – stamp balloon using Memento Black, cut out add to card front

Lots of Love

We have good news and we have bad news…and it’s the same news…it’s Monday!

It’s been a really rough weekend here in the Brown house.  Randy came down with the flu on Friday and I came down with the flu on Saturday so needless to say mostly we have just been sleeping and coughing…lots of both.

My cubemate at work is a MD doctor who does urgent care at a physician practice.  He’s been mostly seeing people with the flu.  He told me it is really easy to tell patients who come in with the flu and those who do not.  The ones who got the flu shot are sitting up when he walks into the room.  Fortunately we both had the flu shot.

Anyway I did manage to get a card done for the inspiration challenge.  It is a cool inspiration and I chose to go with the various layers as my inspiration.

Here’s the details…

  • So Saffron – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Pear Pizzazz print – 1 3/4 x 2, add to card front
  • Dandelion print – 2 x 3 1/2, add to card front
  • Tranquil Tide stripe print – 1 3/4 x 4 3/4, add to card front
  • Flower print – 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – stamp greeting using black marker, cut out using a stitched circle, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – stamp two of each flowers in Crushed Curry and Pool Party and 2 double leaves in Pear Pizzazz, cut everything out, layer the flowers, add using dimensionals
  • Add Gold Faceted Gems to center of each flower to finish off.

I decided to keep pretty close to the original sample.  I think maybe the card was not a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 size…maybe a little smaller so I added an extra layer.  I also switched the set to Hedgehugs.
