Birthday Blooms

CCMC400Happy Thursday everyone!  Thursday are just good because it is time another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  They are also such fun and this week we have a cool color challenge!

Today was one of those days were I needed to come up with a ‘quick’ card for today’s challenge so I went with things that were partially done or sitting out on my desk.  Yep…so much of my designing comes from whatever is sitting out on my desk.  I was inspired by the piece of dsp from the Going Places dsp.  Even though this looks like it is a tall in skinny card, because the strip hangs over the end on each side, it really is a standard sized card.

Here’s the details…

  • Very Vanilla – 3 1/2 x 11 folded
  • Lost Lagoon – 1/2 x 3 1/2, add to the bottom of the card
  • Sahara/Vanilla Stripe print – 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 add to card front
  • Hello Honey – 1/2 x 4 1/4, cut into banner on both ends, add to card front
  • Stamp greeting using Sahara Sand
  • Flower – Lost Lagoon, Center – Hello Honey, Dot – Very Vanilla, Leaf Sahara Sand – stamp in Sahara Sand and sponge edges.  Layer everything together and add to card front

Yep…that really is all there is to it.  it is always great when you can pull something together at the last minute!

Head over to Create with Connie and Mary to check out the create design team creations!

Zoo Babies

SUO145Well it’s time for another SUO challenge and this time our theme is ‘Cute Critters’.  This was another one of those where I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it.

I was looking for a ‘cute critter’ to use on my card and remembered I had those ‘cute’ zoo babies so that made the decision easy for me.  After playing around with a couple of them, I finally decided to go simple (I know..SHOCKER!!!) and this is what I ended up with.  I think it turned out so fun!

Here’s the details.

  • Mint Macaron – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • It’s My Party dsp (Melon Mambo diagonal stripe) – 3/4 x 5 1/2, add to card base
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, stamp splotch in Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron, stamp greeting using Melon Mambo
  • Stamp elephant twice in Basic Grey Archival, cut ear out of second one and add to elephant.  Add elephant using dimensionals.  Add White Candy Dot for elephant eye.
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Crushed Curry – 1/8 x 5 1/2, add to Whisper White panel
  • Add It’s My Party Enamel Dots to finish it off

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

SP15SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop!  With this being Easter weekend for us here, we thought we’d celebrate with “Hello Spring”.

SatHopSpring

As always there’s a story to go along with this!  This actually started a couple weeks ago with the idea for doing it for a color challenge for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday challenge.  So I made the cup and the flowers and then these leaves and then realized…OOOPS…wrong color for the leaves.  Next I realized the color I would have to use for the circle was not REALLY the color I wanted to use and well…it sort of just sat, you guessed it…ON THE TOP OF MY DESK.  So I was trying to figure out what to do for our ‘hello spring’ thing and this was sitting on top of my desk…well, at least parts of it so I went with it.  I do think it looks nice and ‘springy’!

Here’s the details…

  • Mint Macaron – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 5 1/8 x 3 7/8
  • Mint Macaron 5 x 3 3/4, run through the Decorative Dots embossing folder, layer on the white and add to card front

CAS369I noticed that the CAS challenge on SCS  is to feature lucky or green on your card.  Even though St. Patrick’s day is over, I thought it would be fun to do a 4 leaf clover and had the perfect saying from the “And Many More” set for the luck part!

This one really came together quickly using a little heart punch to make the leaves for the 4 leaf clover!

  • Gold Glimmer Washi Tape (SAB) – add to card base
  • Cucumber Crush print – 1/2 x 4 1/4, add to right side of card

  • Cucumber Crush print – 1/8 x 4 1/4, add to left side of panel, add panel to card front
  • To make to of clover – 1/2″ circle (I just used the same print), add some glue dots, punch out 4 hearts (Itty Bitty Accents Punch), fold in half, open up and add to circle, add to card card front.
  • Gold Glimmer paper – punch out 1/4″ circle, add to center of clover to finish it off
Set(s): And Many More, Apple of My Eye
Paper: Whisper White, Cherry on Top dsp, Gold Glimmer
Ink: Basic Black, Cucumber Crush

Tour de Freaks – March

freakwelcome2013Well it’s time for ANOTHER Tour de Freaks blog hop and this month our theme is spring/Easter.  I decided to have some fun with the spring theme!  It is really beginning to feel like spring around here in Ohio.

If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from Melissa Stout – Stampin’ Doc blog…LOVE her stuff!

I decided for the spring theme to go with Chicks…I just LOVE this little guy for the Honeycomb Happiness SAB set!

CFHopMarCard

Isn’t this little chick just DANG CUTE?  Since I’m not much one for coloring, I decided to stamp him on some dsp and just cut him out…SOOOO much nicer (well…at least for me!)

Here’s the details…

  • Crushed Curry – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Basic Black – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, layer on Basic Black then to card front using dimensionals
  • Soft Sky – punch 2 1/2″ Circle, add to card front
  • Melon Mambo/white star print – It’s My Party dsp – 1/8 x 4, add to card front
  • Mint Macaron Triangle Print – 1/2 x 2 3/4, add to card front
  • Multi-color star print – 1 x 3 1/4, cut into banner, add to card front
  • Stamp chick on Crushed Curry print using Basic Black Archival, cut out, color beak and feet using Tangelo Twist marker, add using dimensionals
  • Basic Black – 3/8 x 1 1/4, stamp using Versamark, white emboss, cut into a banner, add using dimensionals
Set(s): Honeycomb Happiness (SAB)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Soft Sky, It’s My Party dsp
Ink: Basic Black Archival, Versamark
Other: 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Well..since I had a check on my card, I needed to make a chick for y 3D project…

CFHopMarChick

Is he just THE CUTEST too?  This is so quick and easy!  Here’s the details…

  • Daffodil Delight – cut out two of the Curvy Keepsake box pieces, sponge edges using Crushed Curry
  • Festive Flower Builder Punch – cut out 2 of the ‘x’s from Tangelo Twist for the ‘feet’.  Put between the two layers when putting the bottom together.  Put the box together
  • Tangelo Twist – cut out the ‘point’ from the medium star and add for beak.
  • Eyes:  Cut 2 Whisper White 1/2″ Circles, Punch 2 Basic Black 1/4″ Holes (layer), cut 2 Daffodil Delight 1/2″ Circles, trim off bottom of each, sponge using Crushed Curry.  Layer together then add to box.
  • Sponge Crushed Curry for the ‘cheeks’.
  • Crushed Curry – Festive Glower Build Punch – smaller of the two petals – punch 2, fold top down on an angle, sponge using Crushed Curry, add to sides of the box

Now see…wasn’t that simple!

Paper: Whisper White, Basic black, Daffodil Delight, Tangelo Twist
Ink: Crushed Curry
