Happy Scenes

CCMC386With Christmas next week, we at Create with Connie and Mary are taking next week off so that we and our design team can celebrate with holiday with their family and friends!  So MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE from all of us!

For this special two week challenge, we have a very special and festive color challenge for you – Basic Black, Whisper White, Gold!

I had seen a card on Pinterest (of course!) that gave me the idea for this card.  I think it is a perfect card for the colors AND for our two week challenge!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White THICK – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded, stamp greeting using Basic Black Archival
  • Black/White snowflake print (Wonderland dsp) – 2 1/2 x 2 1/2, layer onto Gold Glimmer – 2 5/8 x 2 5/8.   NOTE:  I cut out the center of the Gold Glimmer to make it easier to attach the dsp otherwise trouble sticking!  Add to card front using dimensionals
  • Gold Glimmer – punch out 1 1/2″ Circle, add to card front
  • Whisper White THICK – 2 1/2 x 1 1/2, cut out using the Sleigh Ride house strip and add to card front using dimensionals to finish off.

Don’t you just LOVE it?  I do!   Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team!

Reason for the Season

CCMC385Yep…it’s time again for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  I hope that your holiday celebrations are going great for you!

We have a fun sketch challenge for you.  I have to say…this one made me work a bit until I figured out what to do with it!

I’ve been seeing a lot of folks cutting out the images in the Home for Christmas dsp and when looking at the sketch I decided the cut little deer would just be perfect for the sketch.  And you all KNOW how I LOVE to cut things out!

Here’s the details…

  • Real Red – 4 1/4 x 11, run through the Woodland Embossing folder
  • Very Vanilla – But out using the Lots of Labels framelit – I then trimmed the sides then made a little shorter by running through the framelit again (what can I saw…I wanted something very specific!), add to card front
  • Blue/white dotted dsp – 2 1/8 x 4 1/4
  • Very Vanilla/multi-colored diagonal strip – 1/2 x 4 1/4, add behind the blue/white dotted, stamp greeting using Early Espresso then add to card front
  • Mossy Meadow – 1/8 x 4 1/4, add to dsp panel.
  • Cut out two deer, layer and add using dimesionals
  • Add Home for Christmas green Enamel Dots for finish it off.

And did you know it is time to sign up for the Create with Connie and Mary December Mini Session (but remember…some of you subscribed LAST MONTH during our special!)  Here’s a little teaser of the projects we are doing this month!  (New photos on the Coming Soon projects when Mary and I get our orders, but we KNOW you’ll love them!)

SUO137Yep…time for another SUO challenge!  We have a fun one this time to make a card (or gift) for a kid.  I guess you can tell I well with the ‘card’ part of the theme – LOL!!!

Okay…now before I get to my card…I have a little rant.  I REALLY like the Wonderland set but WHAT THE HECK do DEAD DEER ANTLERS have to do with ‘silent night’ and ‘all is calm, all is bright’?  NOT FOR THE DEER!  I really put off buying this set for not other reason than WHOEVER thought that ‘fit’ didn’t quite get it.  But I DO LOVE the trees (and I’m a sucker for trees).  Anyway I did see the DEAD DEER ANTLERS used to make an ADORABLE penguin Rudolph so…okay…why not.  BUT REALLY…DEAD DEER ANTLERS and ‘all is calm, all is bright’?  GEEZ!!!

Okay…rant over…here’s the details…

  • Mossy Meadow – 3 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp snowflakes using Mossy Meadow
  • Cherry Cobbler – 7/8 x 4 1/4, cut two and add to card front.  These make the card a ‘standard’ sized card even though it ‘looks’ tall and skinny
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, stamp penguin using Basic Black Archival, stamp DEAD DEAR ANTLERS using Chocolate Chip, color feet using Hello Honey, add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Cut “jolly” out 3 times from Cherry Cobbler, layer and add using fine tip glue pen
  • Stamp holly using Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler (okay…had an extra one sitting on my desk!) add to jolly
  • Add Cherry Cobbler Home for Christmas Enamel dot to make ‘Rudolph’s’ nose
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to snowflakes to finish it off.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Holly Jolly Greetings

CardClassSleighRideOh…I have a cool card for you today!  Can you believe it?  Christmas  is right around the corner!  WOW!!!  (and equally good for me…school is almost OVER – WOOO HOOOO!!!)

This is another card we did in my November Christmas Card Class.  It really is a simple card but that little bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper (dang…I’ve gone through a TON of this stuff!) really add that ‘just a little extra’.

Here’s the details…

  • Pool Party – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 (this is going to be the base to add all your other pieces)
  • Home for Christmas dsp (blue dotted print) – 2 3/4 x 3 1/2, add to top of white panel
  • Cut our houses from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer and sleigh from Pool Party .  I make my pieces longer than what I need and trim off excess.  Add both pieces to the panel.
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, cut out frame using Lots of Labels Framelits.  Add sleigh panel behind this using dimensionals.  Add to card front.
  • Pool Party – 3/4 x 2 1/4, cut into banner, stamp greeting using Versamark and white emboss, add to card front
  • Tie bow in Silver Cording Trim, add to top of frame to finish off.

WI15SatHopWelcome

Well…we have finished up the Christmas card challenges we had for the design team and now we are one to other fun Christmas ‘stuff’!  This week the challenge for our team is to make a Christmas Favor or Treat!

ChristmasCoco

On of my favorite ‘treats’ to give someone this time of year is hot coco (with a peppermint Ghirardelli chocolate square.  Of course an added candy cane is good too!  So I was trying to figure out something EASY to do (we just finished up our last week of school and next week is finals week…need EASY!!) and I noticed that these fun little bags look like they have snowballs on it so … yep … EASY!  Oh and this EASILY holds 2 hot chocolate packets and 2 Ghirardelli peppermint squares.

Here’s the details…

  • Add the hot chocolate and peppermint chocolate squares to the bag, fold over the top and punch 2 holes using the 1/2″ circle punch, slide peppermint stick through holes.
  • Red Foil – 2 3/4 x 5, use largest Lots of Labels framelit to cut off end
  • Holly Print – Season of Cheer dsp – 2 3/8 x 4 1/2, use second to largest Lots of Labels framelit to cut off end, lay on top of Red Foil label and add to bag by sliding under flap.
  • Add large Gold Foil Doily using dimensionals
  • Stamp penguin using Basic Black Archival, add bow tie in Mossy Meadow, stamp Santa hat and candy cane using Real Red, ink holly using Mossy Meadow and Real Red markers, cut all out using framelits, layer together and add using dimensionals

It would be sooooo easy to make up a bunch of these as quick last minute gifts to have on hand!

CardClassPenquinOh…I just REALLY LOVE this little penguin…don’t you?  And with all the little ‘extras’ in this set, there are so many ways you can dress it up!   LOL!!!

This was a card we made in my November Christmas Card Class.  I like the fun look of the Bermuda Bay with a ‘pop’ of Real Red in there.  I also like the added little Rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes on the base of the card.  It just gives the card just that ‘little extra’.

Here’s the details…

  • Bermuda Bay – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, stamp snowflakes using Bermuda Bay
  • Basic Black – 2 7/8 x 4 3/8
  • Whisper White – 2 3/4 x 4 1/4, stamp greeting using Bermuda Bay
  • Basic Black – 3/4 x 1 3/4, cut into banner
  • Bermuda Bay print (Cherry on Top dsp Paper Stack) – 3/4 x 1 1/4, cut into banner, layer on top of Real Red banner, add to Whisper White panel, trim.  Add panel to Basic Black piece and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp penguin/Basic Black Archival, santa hat/Real Red, candy cane/Real Red.  Stamp bow tie on Penguin using Bermuda Bay, cut everything out using matching framelits, put together and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Tie a bow in Silver Cording Trim, add to banners
  • Add some small Basic Rhinestones to center of Snowflakes on card base to finish off
