Lighthearted Leaves

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Design Team Blog Hop.  This week we have another fun Fall challenge…make a simple Fall Favor or Treat Holder!  Well…SIMPLE was the operative word for me!

NovTreatSatHop

I really like the Square Pillow Box Thinlit makes putting together a treat holder VERY SIMPLE!!!  So that was where I started.  I also wanted to play with the corrugated paper and found that you can cut things out with framelits and it DOESN’T SQUISH it!  WOO HOOO!!!

Here’s the details…

  • Basic Black – cut out two of the Square Pillow Box pieces and put together.
  • Neutral 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon – wrap around box
  • Corrugated paper – cut out larger leaf in the kraft corrugated paper and smaller leaf from the white corrugated paper and layer together.  Punch acorn from Basic Black and add to leaves.
  • Put adhesive on the back of the leaves and add loopies of Silver Cording Trim (LOVE this stuff).  Add to pillow box using dimensionals.
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 1 3/4, stamp greeting using Soft Suede, add behind Silver Basic Metal Button and add to pillow box.
  • Tie bow form Silver Cording Trim, add to button to finish off.

Lighthearted Leaves

gratefulYep…it’s ANOTHER Lighthearted Leaves card AGAIN!  You know…for a set I did not like AT ALL when I first saw the Holiday Mini and that I just got ‘on a whim’, I’m SOOOO enjoying creating with it!

Anyway…I saw that the CASology challenge this time was YOU, I had this idea right away for a card.  Of course it took me until NOW this week to make it but that’s okay…I did get it done and just LOVE the finished look!  Oh…and I should mention…SOOOO simple!

Here’s the details…

  • Hello Honey – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 x 5 1/2, stamp leaf in Hello Honey, the dots in Basic Black Archival, and So Grateful For in Basic Black Archival.
  • Basic Black – 5/8 x 5 1/2, add behind Whisper White panel
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/8 x 5 1/2, add on the top panel, add panel to card base
  • Basic Grey – cut out ‘you’ four times, layer on top of each other, then add to card front to finish off.

Yep…can you believe it?  THAT easy!

Holly Jolly Greetings

CCMC377Happy Thursday everyone!  I just love Thursday…first because it is the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and a fun sketch it is!

The other reason I love Thursday?  I’m FINALLY caught up on my grading from last week!  I always have it as my goal to have everything from the previous week graded by the end of Wednesday and I did it!  LOL!!!

So…for this card I ‘flipped’ the sketch and put the strips on the top instead of the bottom so I would have somewhere to ‘hang’ my ornament!

Here’s the details…

  • Mossy Meadow – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Very Vanilla – 3 3/4 x 3 3/4, stamp JOY in the bottom right corner using Mossy Meadow
  • Strips – Mossy Meadow 3/4 x 4, Gold Glimmer 1/2 x 4 1/8, and Mistletoe print (Home for Christmas) 3/4 x 4, arrange the Mossy Meadow and Gold Glimmer strips on the Very Vanilla and trim end.
  • Cut out smallest ornament and ornament top from Gold Foil.  Put piece of Gold Cording Trim through hole in ornament topper, tape ends to back of Mistletoe print, add strip to card front, then strip end.
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Add VERY THIN pieces of dimensionals to back of ornament, add to card front lining up so the ornament top can be added to the top using glue dot.

Vintage Leaves

SUO133aHave you ever had a set that you just HAD to HAVE as SOON as it was available and then well…it sits, and it sits, and it sits?  I’m SURE that doesn’t happen to you!  LOL!!!

I just HAD to have this leaf set when it came out (and matching framelits of course)…that would be back the beginning of June.  And yep…this was the first time I used it.  Meanwhile I absolutely HATED Lighthearted Leaves in the Holiday Mini, bought it on a WHIM and used the heck out of it.  Go figure!  LOL!!!

But anyway…back to THIS card.  It’s Tuesday and it’s time for another SUO challenge.  This time our theme is Pocket Cards.  There are SOOOO many different ways to do pocket cards and you are going to get a nice variety from the SUO Challenge Design Team!  I decided to go pretty traditional with mine.  I’m sort of stuck on these colors (Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow, So Saffron, Delightful Dijon) for a pretty ‘start of fall’ card!

Here’s what it looks like when it is open…

SUO133b

Pretty cool huh?  I like how I designed it for the leaves to hang out over the outside of the pocket!

Here’s the details…

  • Pear Pizzazz – 4 1/4 x 9 1/2, score at 5 1/2 and run the ‘short side’ through woodgrain embossing folder and fold.  Round the top two corners of the longer side.  NOTE:  I did not use adhesive on the side so my inside card could be bigger.
  • Mossy Meadow Dotted dsp (English Garden dsp) – 1 1/4 x 9. Wrap it around the pocket securing in the back.
  • Add piece of Gold Glitter Ribbon (4 1/4″).  Your pocket is done!
  • Pear Pizzazz – 4 x 5 1/4, round the top two corners.
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, round the top two corners, stamp greeting using Early Espresso, layer onto Pear Pizzazz and put in pocket.
  • Stamp leaves in Early Expresso – small and one long one Delightful Dijon, long one So Saffron, Oak Mossy Meadow, cut out using framelits, layer together and tie Gold Cording Trim around stems.  Add to card insert using dimensional to make it easy to ‘hang out’ over the pocket.
  • Add a couple Early Espresso Candy Dots to finish off.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see their wonderful creations!

Set(s): Vintage Leaves, Lighthearted Leaves
Paper: Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow, So Saffron, Delightful Dijon, Mossy Meadow
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Leaflets Framelits, Project Life Corner Rounder, Neutral Candy Dots, Gold Cording Trim, Gold Glitter Ribbon, Dimensionals

Peaceful Pines

CAS346I’ve been working on some cards for a wonderful group of ladies that get together every month to do some crafting.  I had promised that we would do some Christmas cards and I’ve been working this weekend to get my cards designed for this get together and for a Christmas card class next month.

I was looking around and noticed that the CAS challenge on SCS is to do words only…no stamped images.  Well…I was thinking about doing a simple Christmas tree card for my Tuesday get together and I came up with this simple card!  Only the words are stamped…that rest are die cuts…AWESOME!

Here’s the details…

  • Mossy Meadow – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Very Vanilla – 5 x 3 3/4, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Very Vanilla – 4 3/4 x 3 1/2
  • Home for Christmas dsp (mistletoe print) – 3/4 x 3 1/2, add to Very Vanilla panel
  • Stamp greeting using Basic Black Archival ink, add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Cut medium tree framelit out of Gold Foil, and small tree framelit out of Gold Glimmer, layer and add using dimensionals.
  • Cut stars from Mossy Meadow and add to top of each tree to finish off.

So…what a great little Christmas card!  And speaking of GREAT…you should see the WONDERFUL projects we have for our subscribers of the Create with Connie and Mary October Mini Session.  Here’s a sneak peek of our projects (and PSST…we opened TODAY)!…

A Little Something

CandyCanes1Oh…today is such a good day!  Why you ask?  Well…today is the opening day of Create with Connie and Mary October Mini Session!  WOOO HOOO!!!!

Since our October Mini Session is a mixture of both Fall and Christmas, I decided to do a fun little Christmas card to celebrate today.

I was looking around for a challenge to use and found this fabulous sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and thought how CUTE it would look in Candy Canes!  NAILED IT!  LOL!!!  I do think it REALLY turned out CUTE!

Here’s the details…

  • Real Red – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/8 x 5 1/2
  • Stamp candy cane (A Little Something) 9 times using Real Red and cut out using the Candy Cane from the Square Pillow Box Framelit.  Stamp holly (Snow Place) 9 times using Real Red and Garden Green markers, cut out using the matching Snow Friends Framelits.  Add holly to candy canes.  Lay on Whisper White panel just for placement then stamp greeting using Garden Green.  Now add the cut out Candy Canes.
  • Striped Garden Green dsp (Regals dsp paper pack) – 3/4 x 5 1/2, add behind panel then add panel using dimensionals.

See…that was as easy as can be!  Speaking of easy…if you want some GREAT ideas for Fall and Christmas, it is EASY to subscribe to the Create with Connie and Mary October Mini Session!
