Holly Jolly Greetings

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Welcome to the beginning of the Christmas inspiration of the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop.  For quite a few weeks coming up, each Saturday the design team is going to have a different Christmas theme inspiration!  Our second challenge – make a Christmas card using non-traditional colors!

SatHopNonTraditional

So I’m thinking white, grey and black really aren’t traditional colors…right?  Connie said it was okay…LOL!!!  I love playing with Sleigh Ride edgelits and I think this turned out to be soooo elegant!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White THICK – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 x 5 1/4, run through the Softly Falling Embossing folder, add to card front (I used the ‘back side’ up on this).
  • Silver Glimmer – 2 3/4 x 4 1/4.  NOTE…I cut out some of the Silver Glimmer that is behind where the framelits are.  This made it easier to add the black panel.
  • Basic Black – 2 1/2 x 3 7/8, punch along the top using the Star Border Punch, add to Silver Glimmer panel.  Add to card front.
  • Cut out the house edgelit from Basic Grey, tree edgelit from Smoky Slate, sleigh edgelit from Whisper White.  Add each layer using dimensionals.
  • Basic Black – 1/2 x 2, stamp greeting using Versamark, white emboss, cut into a banner and add to card front.
  • Add Winter Wonderland Embellishment to finish off.
Set(s): Holly Jolly Greetings
Paper: Whisper White Thick, Whisper White, Basic Black, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Versamark
Other: Sleigh Ride Edgelits, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Winter Wonderland Embellishment, Star Border Punch, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Since it is feeling very ‘autumny’ I decided to go with an ‘autumn’ theme for my card.  This is one of those sketches that I took a few ‘liberties’ when creating.  I used the three different color ‘splotches’ to represent the 3 circles int he sketch!  Okay…works for me!

Here’s the details (don’t blink…it’s a quick one!)…

  • Very Vanilla – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Very Vanilla – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp the ‘splotch’ 3 times – Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, Old Olive.  Stamp greeting using Old Olive, add to card front using dimensionals
  • Cut leaf form black print (Happy Hauntings dsp – it’s NOT just for Halloween) add to card front.
  • Add gold button using glue dots
  • Tie bow form Gold Cording Trim and add to button
  • Add gold sequins

CFSwapYou know…I was looking through my posts and realized that I never posted my card from the Control Freak Holiday Mini swap!  Can you believe it!

I had decided to use the Snow Place set and matching Framelits for my swap.  I love that with the paper stack you can easily do multiples of cards since you have extra of the prints in the pack.  That made it REALLY easy for me to do a bunch of these!

  • Cherry Cobbler – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Old Olive – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, add to Old Olive piece then add to card front
  • Olive/White Ornament print – 2 x 4, add to card front
  • Cherry Cobbler/Crumb Cake print – 2 x 4, add to card front
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/2 x 3, cut into banner, add to card front
  • Stamp Penguin/Basic Black Archival, scarf/Cherry Cobbler, earmuffs/Old Olive, cut everything out using matching framelits, color beak and feet using Pumpkin Pie, put everything together and add to card front
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 2 1/4, stamp greeting using Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler, cut into banner, add using dimensionals

Jingle All the Way

CreateFA15HopWelcome

Welcome to the beginning of the Christmas inspiration of the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Saturday Blog Hop.  For quite a few weeks coming up, each Saturday the design team is going to have a different Christmas theme inspiration!  Our first challenge – make a red and white Christmas card!

Sathop - red whiteAs with most things I make…there is a bit of a story behind this one.  It started as Among the Branches and a card I made for a card class.  It was okay but I decided to add some silver (and I REALLY like it) but then I figured adding silver was not what the challenge called for.  So I started making a card with Reason for the Season…again started red and white, decided it needed silver (did this for a group I stamp with) liked it MUCH better but again…DANG…I added silver!  (Don’t worry…I’ll show these other cards too!)  Well I just HAD to have Jingle All the Way and the Sleigh Ride edgelits AS SOON as they came out.  Guess what?  This is the FIRST TIME I used them…GEEZ!!!  So that’s my story (and I’m sticking to it) but I did FINALLY manage a ‘red and white’ card!  (and no where did it say only ONE shade of red so…I’m GOOD!)

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White Thick – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Real Red dsp Paper Stack – diagonal striped print – cut two 1/2 x 4 1/4, add to card base.
  • Real Red – 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, cut out center using Lots of Labels framelit then run through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  Add to card base using dimensionals.
  • Whisper White – Cut out smaller Lots of Label framelit.
  • Cut out Cherry Cobbler Houses Edgelit piece and Real Red Sleigh Ride Edglit piece.  Layer together and fun through same framelit as the Whisper White piece.  Add Cherry Cobbler piece directly on the label.  Stamp ‘merry’ using Versamark on the sleigh one, white emboss then add to label with dimensionals.  Add label inside frame using dimensionals.
  • Tie Bow in Cherry Cobbler Thick Twine, add to top of label.

So…overall pretty simple card.  I did REALLY like playing with the edgelits…what FUN!  AND…my card is red and white!

Set(s): Jingle All the Way
Paper: Whisper White Thick, Whisper White, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Versamark
Other: Lots of Labels, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Thick Twine, White Embossing Powder, Dimensionals
