Happy Birthday, Everyone

CCMC364Happy Thursday everyone!  As you are reading this I’m in Pittsburgh (PA) visiting with my sister.  I decided to go on the visit sort of ‘last minute’ so I was trying to get some of my challenges done so I could get them ready to post.  So I sat down to do my card for this challenge (Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge) and I made a really cool card!  I went  upload it into the Create blog only to discover it wasn’t the right challenge!  OOPS!!!  So then I had to do another card.  I was sort of short of time before I left so I decided to go CAS.  Well…I did one card using the right colors but wasn’t my favorite so I did this one which I like (don’t worry…I’ll show my reject tomorrow!).

Here’s the details…

  • Watermelon Wonder – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Basic Black – 3/4 x 5 1/2 and add to the bottom of the card front
  • Whisper White – 3 1/4 x 5 1/2, stamp larger grunge stamp using Crushed Curry and the smaller one using Watermelon Wonder.  Stamp greeting using Momento Black.
  • Add panel to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Color some of the Perfect White Accents using a black Sharpie, let dry and add to card front to finish off!

Yep…it really is that easy!  And speaking of easy…are looking for some GREAT card and 3D ideas using sets in the new catalog?  Then check out the NEW Create with Connie and Mary Mini-Session!

Sprinkles of Life

TSSC367Happy Monday everyone!  It’s time now for another Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!  This is a fun sketch this week and since I’m really lovin’ Mint Macaron, I thought I’d pair it up with Watermelon Melon for a fun birthday card!

This is the first I’ve played with the Everyday Chic dsp and loved how this print went with the rest of the card.  To do the background white piece, I used the largest Lots of Labels framelit but made it shorter than the framelit by running it through twice to make it shorter.

Here’s the details…

  • Mint Macaron – 4 1/4 x 11
  • Mint Macaron – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, run through the Elegant Dots embossing folder and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Whisper White – cut out using the Lots of Labels Framelits, run through twice to make it shorter.  Add to card front.
  • Watermelon Wonder – 1/4 x 3 3/4 add to card front.
  • Everyday Chic – cut out four rectangles 1 x 3/4 and add to card front.
  • Stamp greeting using Watermelon Wonder.
  • Stamp cupcake base using Memento Black on Whisper White, cut out, stamp cupcake top using Memento Black on Watermelon Wonder and punch out, later and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add Perfect White Accents to top of cupcake.

TSSC367Interesting sketch this week…I really enjoyed playing with it.  I hope that that you join our challenge!    Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

Hello

SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop! I can’t believe July is here and as you are reading this post Connie and I are hosting the Create with Connie and Mary LIVE event.  (Okay…if you are reading this in the middle of the night…probably not!). For the month of July we have some fun themes planned for our designed team and for you to see.  Up first is ‘Alphabet Soup’ – using letters or thinlit words on our cards.  If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from the Create with Connie and Mary site…don’t you just LOVE our new look!  I know that I do!

Oh the creative process!  I am always so surprised sometimes as how my mind works.  Here’s a little process on this card BEFORE I show you what I ended up with!

  • I started working on my card I was thinking about the casology challenge from this week and the cue card was “Repeat” so I started my card using multiple ‘greetings’ thinlits in different colors with one in black.  So I cut them all out and THAT didn’t work out as planned!
  • Then I went to a camouflage die cut card so I cut out and stacked 4 hellos made with the new THICK whisper white cardstock for the base.  Rejected that idea.
  • Then I couldn’t quite decided what I wanted to do with that so I decided to do a white on white card using the stacked hellos I made.  Rejected that idea.
  • Then decided I needed to add color and was going to do Daffodil Delight base (run through Chevron embossing folder) with a little black and the white hello on there (I put so much work into making this stack of hellos I WAS GOING TO USE THEM!).  Rejected this idea.
  • Then I came up with this…

HelloSatHopAnd I absolutely LOVED it!  It is SOOO me!  LOL!!!

Here’s the details…

  • Basic Black – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Kraft – 5 1/2 x 3 1/2, layer strip of Whisper White 1/2 x 5 1/2 behind it and add to card base using dimensionals.
  • Basic Black – punch out 7 chevrons and add to card front.
  • Silver Glimmer – 1/8 x 5 1/2, add to card front.
  • Cut out 4 hellos from the new Thick Whisper White cardstock and layer, add to card front.

VIOLA…3 hours later and you have a card that takes 15 mins to make!  LOL!!!

Here’s a side view of the card so you can see the thickness of the hello…

And just for fun…here’s a picture of my dining room BEFORE I start packing up the cars…yep…so much stuff, have to take TWO!

No Bones About It

SUO126RAWR!!!  Now that I got your attention, it’s time for another SUO challenge!  This time our theme is designer paper!  Don’t you just LOVE dsp?  I know that I do and the new Schoolhouse dsp is just DELIGHTFUL!  It is especially GREAT when making a fun ‘kid’ card!  And when you pair it up with the new dinosaur set…how FUN is that!

  • Pacific Point – 5 x 3 3/4
  • Bold Stripes (Schoolhouse dsp) – cut a piece 3 1/2 wide then cut out the segment with the yellow stripes, tangerine stripes and green stripes.  Add these at an angle to the paper.
  • Pool Party dotted (Schoolhouse dsp) – 1 x 6 – lay it on an angle on the panel, trim sides then add panel to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Whisper White – cut out oval, add to card front using dimensionals

Definitely Dahlia

SatHopWelcome

Welcome everyone to the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team Blog Hop! Each of the design team members is taking turns suggesting a theme and this month we are doing Folds.  Deb Currier is up this week and she picked the Tunnel card..  If you are going forward in the hop you arrived here from Connie Babbert’s Inkspired Treasures blog.  I always LOVE what she does!

I have never made one of these and it wasn’t that difficult…lots more steps than I’m use to doing on a card but do love the way it turned out!  Here’s the outside of my card…

TunnelCardClosedDon’t you just LOVE the new Definitely Dahlia stamp?  This was one of my very first ‘must have’ stamps from the new catalog.  I just LOVE it and there is so much you can do with it.

Here’s the details for the front of card…

  • Blushing Bride – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded (note:  before folding, stamp the greeting that will be on the inside – see directions below)
  • Very Vanilla – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, run through the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder and add to Basic Black – 3 3/4 x 5.  Add to card front using dimensionals (once you have stamped inside of card and folded)
  • Timeless Elegance dsp – 1 1/2 x 3 5/8, add to panel.
  • Stamp Definitely Dahlia using Blushing Bride on Very Vanilla, cut out and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Very Vanilla – 1 1/4 x 3 3/4, stamp greeting (Birthday Blossoms) using Memento Black, stamp again on Blushing Bride.  Cut out the banner and add to greeting.  Cut piece into a banner and add to card front
  • Stamp flowers using Memento Black on Blushing Bride, cut out and add to banner.

And now for the inside, here’s the picture…

TunnelCardOpen

Here’s the details…

  • Blushing Bride dsp (Subtles paper pack) – 8 1/4 x 5 1/4, score along the 8 1/4 side at 2, 4 1/8. 6 1/4, cut out the window using the largest Tags and Labels Framelits.
  • Timeless Elegance – 3 3/4 x 3 (same print as the front), sut out the window using the next to largest Tags and Labels Framelits.
  • Lay this piece centered on the inside of the card and stamp greeting using Memento Black and the fold card in half.  This helps to reduce the bulk of the card by not adding an extra layer inside.
  • Fold the Blushing Bride dsp (valley folds on the ends, mountain fold in the center), add ends to inside card.
  • Timeless Elegance – 3/8 x 5 1/4, add to ends
  • Stamp the flower stamp twice on Blushing Bride using Memento Black, add highlights using Blushing Bride marker and color centers using Smoky Slate. Cut out and add to inside card to finish off.

How fun is that?  Really not that difficult of a card but makes the inside special for someone special!

Set(s): Definitely Dahlia, Birthday Blossom
Paper: Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride, Subtles dsp Paper Pack, Timeless Elegance dsp
Ink: Memento Black, Blushing Bride
Other: Tags & Labels Framelits, Elegant Dots Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

And speaking of someone special, now it is time to head over to Nicole Tugrul Be Creative with Nicole site and see the special card you made!
