Awesomely Artistic

dragonfliesHave I mentioned yet how much I LOVE dragonflies and just how happy I am that Stampin’ Up! FINALLY has a dragonfly stamp?  Hmmm….I probably have mentioned that once or twice already!

This was one of those cards that started off one way and by the time I finished it was totally different from what I thought I was doing.  Don’t you just LOVE when that happens?  I do like it.  It really is so soft and pretty in real life!

Here’s the details…

  • Pink Pirouette – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Pink Pirouette – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, run through the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder, layer onto Whisper White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • Wrap Smoky Slate Thick Twine around panel then add to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp greeting using Smoky Slate on Whisper White and punch out using Large Oval Punch and add using dimensionals.
  • Stamp dragonfly using Versamark on Vellum, white emboss, cut out and add using some Tombow Glue.

There’s still time to sign up…if you live around the Dayton Ohio (Indiana, Kentucky, Columbus, Cincinnati area)…Create with Connie and Mary are going LIVE on July 11th and we would LOVE to have you join us.  Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ of the projects we will be doing…

I Think You’re Great

SUO125Oh…this is another card that I made recently that I just LOVE!  It’s time for another SUO challenge and this time our theme is “Cutting Edge” – use a decorative edge on your card.

Well since no longer have the edgelits, I had to get a little creative in coming up with a unique edge.  I decided it would fun to use the Deco Labels (just cutting along the bottom) to create my edge.  After I cut it into some Soft Sky…it sort of reminded me of clouds so my card pretty much created itself!  The clouds are made from the new Tree Builder punch.  I cut them out of Whisper White.  Then the ones that I popped up I ran through the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Soft Sky – 4 x 5 1/4, slide the bottom edge into the Deco Label Framelit and just cut the bottom.
  • Whisper White – punch out 9 ‘clouds’ using the Tree Builder Punch. Add 5 directly to the Soft Sky.  Run 4 through the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, add to card front using dimensionals.  Trim overhang off then add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting using Lost Lagoon on Whisper White, cut out and add using dimensionals
  • Add Basic Rhinestones to finish it off

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see which one they picked!

Happy Birthday, Everyone

dahliaMy husband has a phrase that he like to use “Simple, Not Simpler”.  I have to say, I agree.  It’s not always about taking something complex and dropping it back a few notches but making it simple to begin with.

That’s what this card is about…Simple, Not Simpler.  It’s quick and easy and really quite stunning in its simplicity!  I LOVE the new dahlia background stamp and you just can’t beat this bold (and beautiful) hostess set birthday greet!  You put them together and it’s simple and stunning.

Here’s the details –

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded, round bottom right corner
  • Whisper White – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, stamp dahlia in Blushing Bride and greeting in Night of Navy, round bottom corner and layer on Night of Navy 3 5/8 x 4 7/8 with bottom right corner rounded and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Color two Perfect White Accents using navy sharpie and add to card front to finish up.

Yep…it is really that simple!  And you know what else is simple? Joining us for the Create with Connie and Mary LIVE event on July 11th and we would LOVE to have you join us.  Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ of the projects we will be doing…

You’ve Got This

CardClass4You know this new set (You’ve Got This) is just such a cool set!  It’s so easy to make classy cards without too much work.

I also REALLY like the new Tip Top Taupe color.  Just such a pretty neutral color.

This was one of the cards we did in my card class in June.  I think everyone like it and liked how easy it was to do.

Here’s the details…

  • Tip Top Taupe – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Tip Top Taupe – 3 3/8 x 4 5/8, round bottom right corner, run through the Boho Chic Embossing Folder, then layer onto Whisper White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 with bottom right corner rounded.  Add to card front.
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 2, punch top with the Ornate Tag Topper and round the bottom corners.  Stamp background using Tip Top Taupe (stamped off once) and flower using Memento Black.
  • Add Tip Top Taupe 1″ Lacy Ribbon through hole on top and tie using Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  Add tag to card front using dimensionals.
  • Whisper White – 7/8 x 3, stamp greeting using Memento Black, cut into a banner and add to card front using dimensionals.
