Painted Petals

PaintedPetalsIt’s Day 3 of Preview Week for Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions Celebrations.  So another of our FABULOUS designers has a card to share with you and is offering BLOG CANDY!  Who is it?  Head on over to Create with Connie and Mary to find out!  Oh…and while you are there…don’t miss out…subscribe today!

Do you LOVE this set?  I know I do!  I got it in photopolymer and just LOVE how easy it i to line things up when up stamp.  But I do have to tell you, I was a tad bit perplexed when I saw ALL THE INDIVIDUAL PIECES that you get when you get the photopolymer version of the this set.  But I figured out an easy way to get things perfect.  Here’s what I do…

DSC03356Start by leaving the pieces positioned on the sheet.

DSC03357Put your block on top and the pieces are positioned just they way the are supposed to be.

DSC03360Stamp this first step on your paper

DSC03361Now lay the flower stamps where they belong (stamping side down)

DSC03362Finally….add the blog to the back of the flowers and you are good to go.

I’ve shown this at a couple workshops and everyone can see just how easy it is to get everything lined up just the way it need to be.

And now for my card…here’s the details –

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Best Year Ever dsp print – 4 1/4  4 1/4, add to card front

When the new catalog came out last year, I just HAD to have this set!  Guess what?  This is the FIRST time I’ve used it!  EEK!!!  I bet NONE of you do that!

My all time favorite dsp is the Flashback dsp.  I just LOVE it!  The colors are so cool and so are the designs.  So I decided it would be PERFECT paired up with the Tap, Tap, Tap set.

If you are going forward in the hop you arrived here from our Create with Connie and Mary blog…we wanted to make sure you know that registration is open for the Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions Celebrations.

Thanks

For my card this time I decided to use the fun SAB set “For Being You”.  I had this idea to put the one words on top of the other instead of coloring in the work THANKS.  I do have to say…this is also card I used as a make and take for a recent workshop.

Here’s the detail –

  • Bermuda Bay – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Gold Foil – 1/2 x 5 1/2 – dd to bottom front of card (it’s a little difficult to see in the picture but it’s there)
  • Bermuda Bay diagonal striped paper (Birthday Bash Specialty dsp) – add to card front
  • Calypso Coral SAB ribbon – add along top of dsp
  • Whisper White – 5 1/4 x 1 1/2.  Stamp THANKS using Calypso Coral, then stamp for all you do using Night of Navy.
  • Use Note Tag punch to punch top and bottom of piece.
  • Add piece of folded Gold Satin Ribbon to top using handheld punch.  Tie piece of White Baker’s Twine in the Calypso Coral button and add to tag using glue dots.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some gold sequins using glue.
Set(s): For All Your Do (SAB)
Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Gold Foil, Birthday Bash Specialty dsp
Ink: Calypso Coral, Night of Navy
Other: Note Tag Punch, Gold Satin Ribbon, Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, White Baker’s Twine, Gold Sequin Trim, Handheld Stapler, Dimensionals

CCMC348Wow…can you believe it?  It’s already the last Thursday in March!  Hopefully sprint is really on it’s way now.  I know that I am soooo sick of all the the cold, snow and ice (okay…I’ll admit it, winter is NOT my favorite season!)

Well…since it is Thursday it is time for another challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary.  We have a unique color challenge for you…Sahara Sand, Soft Sky and Rose Red.  I will admit…this one was a CHALLENGE!!!  But I do like the card I ended up with.

Balloon Bash

SUO119aIt’s time for another SUO challenge and our theme this time is Fun Folds.  Hmmm…what to do what to do?  I was a little stumped by this one but then had some fun playing around with multiple folds within the card with cutouts through the top so you can see through all the layers.  Yep…that worked for me!  I thought you’d like to see how this opens up so here’s some extra photos…

SUO119b SUO119c SUO119dHere’s the first (left side) flap opened.

Here’s the second (right side) flap opened.

And finally – here it is with the inside flap opened.

Here’s some details –

  • Night of Navy – 4 1/8 x 8 1/2 folded (yes…that is 4 1/8 NOT 4 1/4).
  • Calypso Dotted and special confetti dsp 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded then cut the ends using Oval framelit.
  • Layer the confetti print to the INSIDE back of the Night of Navy piece
  • Layer the Calypso Coral dotted printed to the BACK of the Night of Navy piece.
  • Fold Night of Navy piece down then the right flap then the left one.
  • Punch out a 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle punch and add it to the left (dotted) flap – positioning it where you want – punch out.
  • Use Circle Framelit for side INSIDE the 1 3/4″ Scallop circle and cut out one for a pattern.  With the left flap folded down, place the circle cut out piece, then add framelit on top (FLAP OPEN!!!) and run through Big Shot to cut out.
  • Now decorate however yous want.  I did Balloon Bash and just had a lot of fun layer things for how they shown through the openings.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see which one they picked!
