Butterfly Basics

CCMC344Oh what a fun color challenge we have for you over on Create with Connie and Mary – Blushing Bride, Rose Red, and Blackberry Bliss.  The colors were inspired by the Artisan Embellishment Kit so I decided use it as the inspiration for my card this time.

This is not really a ‘style’ that I am comfortable with this more ‘frilly’ style but I do like the fun inspiration from the kit and think they really work nicely on my card.

Here’s the details –

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x11 folded
  • Blushing Bride – 3 3/4 x 5, sponge the edges using Blushing Bride
  • Add lasercut rose panel to panel, wrap piece of Blackberry Bliss Velvet ribbon around panel and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Cut medium butterfly out of Blackberry Bliss and add to card front.  Stamp butterfly using Rose Red on Whisper White, cut out using butterfly framelit.  Add Blushing Bride rose from Artisan Kit to the center of the butterfly.
  • Stamp greeting using Blackberry Bliss on Rose Red 2 1/2 x 1, cut into banner and add using dimensionals.
Set(s): Butterfly Basics
Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Blackberry Bliss
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride
Other: Butterfly Framelits, Artisan Embellishment Kit, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Painted Petals

CAS135Boy…it’s been a a while since I stamped just for fun but when I saw the Casology Challenge theme of ‘mini’ I just HAD to join the fun.

I do love the color combination of Calypso Coral and Night of Navy – it is simple and striking.  After I made my main card, I decided it needed ‘just a little sumthin’, sumthin’ so I added the ‘mini’ banners on the side and it was just what it needed to ‘kick it up’ a step!

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 5/8 x 3 5/8, stamp the flowers in Cameo Coral and the greeting using Night of Navy.
  • Punch a Calypso Coral and Night of Navy Banners, add behind the panel and add using dimensionals
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.

Yep…believe it or not that’s all there is to it!  LOVE CAS!!!

Set(s): Painted Petals
Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Night of Navy
Ink: Calypso Coral, Night of Navy

Gorgeous Grunge

MelonHelloBoy…do we have an interesting challenge for you for the SUO challenge this time.  What is it, you ask?  Well, it’s to make a card for a teen.  Hmmm…now that one is a bit perplexing since I honestly don’t know a single teen right now…well unless you count some of my students!

Anyway I sort of thought this might work for a girl teen…it’s pink and it happy!  I think those two things would make it work…don’t you?

Here’s the details…

  • Melon Mambo – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Irresistibly Yours SAB dsp – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, use the diagonal stripe piece.  Stamp the medium Gorgeous Grunge using Melon Mambo ink and then CAREFULLY wipe off the access ink!  You do have to be really careful with this.
  • Layer onto Basic Black – 3 3/4 x 4 and add to card front using dimensionals
  • Cut out hello using Basic Black and add to card front.
  • Make ‘enamel’ dots using Crystal Effect, silicon pad and a black sharpie (one dry).  Add to card front using glue.
  • Melon Mambo – 5/8 x 1 3/8.  Stamp you using Memento Black, cut into a banner and add using dimensionals.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team to see which one they picked!

Set(s): Gorgeous Grunge, Crazy about You
Paper: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Irresistibly Yours
Ink: Melon Mambo, Memento Black

  • Garden Green Grid Print (Flowerpot dsp) – 1 3/4 x 5, add to card front.

Tour de Freaks – February

freakwelcome2013Welcome everyone to the February Tour de Freaks Blog Hop!  This month we are all ‘Sale-a-brating’ in style!  With only a little more than a month left to get what you want from the SAB brochure – here’s a create way to get some super ideas from the amazing Control Freak stampers!

If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from Heidi Boos and her Stuck On Stampin’ Blog!  She has just such a fun style!  LOVE it!

I can’t decide what I like the most about SAB so here’s two fun projects I did…

TriangleBoxThese fun ‘triangle’ favors were shown at Leadership this year.  I didn’t get a chance to go but I thought this would be so much fun for my group that met Tuesday night.  They really did enjoy it!  Here’s a picture of how I cut it and the cutting/scoring directions.

TriangleBox2I made mine a little smaller than what was shown but you can get 8 (size 2 1/2 x 6) out of a sheet of dsp which is wonderful!  I used the Best Year Ever SAB dsp, Simply Wonderful Stamp Set for the greeting, the Bouquet Bigz Die, and the Best Year Ever SAB buttons (LOVE THESE!!!).  Super fun and easy to make!

Card

The Bokeh technique is all the rage right now and the other day I wanted to sit down and play with it!  (I had a little break from school work!).  I decided to base my colors on the SAB colors in the accessory pack – Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, and Coastal Cabana.  I used these colors to create the background panel (on Whisper White), then cut out some circles from a window sheet to create my ‘lights’ using White CRAFT ink.  Such a fun technique and if you don’t know how to do it you can find a TON of tutorials – just ‘Google it’.  Besides featuring the colors, my card uses the Best Day Ever SAB set and the Best Year Ever Accessory pack for the ribbon and button.

Here’s a picture of my projects together…

Now it’s time to head over to Dawn Olchefske’s Do Stamping with Dawn blog.  I alwasy just love her projects!

And Many More

CCMC343Oh my…we need a little warmth and sunshine here in Ohio today!  IT…IS…FREEZING…OUT…THERE!  No seriously!  I hate winter…I really and truly HATE winter!

So I have a wonderfully happy card for you today (and tomorrow…it’s Tour de Freaks time!)  I decided to use this fun print as my inspiration for the card.  It is such a cool sketch this week.  My card is a little ‘thinner’ so my butterfly can hang over the edge and still fit in a regular sized envelope!

Here’s the details –

  • Soft Sky – 3 3/4 x 11 folded
  • Tulip print (Painted Blooms dsp) –  3 3/4 x 4 3/4.  The right side is 3 3/4.  Cut on the diagonal and add to card front.
  • Add piece of Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon to the card.
  • Stamp greeting using Momento Black
  •  Cut medium butterfly from Rose Red cardstock and add to card front – hanging over the left side edge some.
  • Add Basic Rhinestones to the body of the butterfly and some on the dsp.

Paper: Soft Sky, Rose Red, Painted Blooms dsp

Here’s the details –

  • Stamp tree trunk using Sahara Sand, add large leaves image using Wild Wasabi.  I used the little ‘snowflake’ looking image to add additional ‘leaves’ in Garden Green and Mossy Meadow.  Stamp greeting using Memento Black.  So the swish in Pistachio Pudding on the bottom
  • Gold Soiree dsp (green dotted print) – 1 1/4 x 4 1/4.  Add to the bottom
