A Dozen Thoughts

CAS270I really liked the CAS challenge for this week which is simply stars.  I wish we had more stars to work with but I was able to use the star in Perfect Pennant for the larger star and then punch out some of the small stars from the Merry Mini Punch Pack.  I decided to go very simply with the colors tool

Here’s the details:

  • Whisper White:  4 1/4 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Punch out some Whisper White stars and add to card front
  • Smoky Slate:  4 1/4 x 1 1/2.  Stamp greeting using Versamark, white emboss.
  • Stamp star in Versamark on Smoky Slate, white emboss cut out and add using dimensionals.
  • Add some of the smallest basic rhinestones.
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals to finish it off.

Yep…that really is all there is to this!

Set(s): Perfect Pennant, A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Smoky Slate
Ink: Versamark

Blessed Easter

TSSC311Oh…it’s Monday again and time for another Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch challenge and Mary Jo has ANOTHER great challenge for you!

If you remember last week I mentioned that we got to play with the new Blendabilities Markers and that I used the vases I had colored at the Mason Unite and Excite event.  At the event my friend Jackie Susnik won a set of those markers and she picked the Pumpkin Pie set!  Well…on Saturday she and my friend Jo came over to play and I colored a bunch of images.  Don’t be surprised if there is a lot of PUMPKIN on my sit!

Here’s the details for my card…

  • Whisper White – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Pumpkin Pie – 3 3/4 x 5 – 2 different prints cut on the diagonal and add to card front.
  • Whisper White – 2 3/4 x 4.  Stamp tulips using Memento Black Pad.  Flowers are colored with the three Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities and the stems with regular Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive markers (oh…PLEASE let me get these Blendabilities SOON!!!).  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Pear Pizzazz – 3 1/4 x 1.  Stamp hello using Basic Grey, cut into banner.  Add Pumpkin Pie button using Whisper White Bakers Twine.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • The three Rhinestones are colored using each of the three colors in the Pumpkin Pie set and added to the card front to finish it off!

TSSC311What a perfectly delightful sketch!  I just LOVE It!!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

Tour de Freaks – April

freakwelcome2013

Welcome everyone to the April Tour de Freaks Blog Hop!  We are so happy that you are joining us!  The month our theme is masculine or ‘gender neutral’…I decided to go with the ‘gender neutral’ one!  If you are going forward through the blog, you arrived here from Wendy Weixler’s Wickedly Wonderful Blog!  She always has the most AMAZING things!

CFAprBlogHopCard1For my projects I decided to focus on using the Retro Fresh dsp.  We have several dsp’s right now that says ‘gender neutral to me.  This layout might look familiar to the other freaks as I used this card but with different dsp for my last Control Freak swap!  This really really quite fun (and easy)  The base if Coastal Cabana, Take a piece of Very Vanilla and lay 4 different dsp prints (7/8″ each) on it.  Cut out the Starburst Framelit.  Wrap some Pumpkin Pie 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon around it.  Stamp Oh Happy Day on another piece of Very Vanilla layer behind the opening using dimensionals then add to card front using dimensionals along the top and bottom.

Oh…but you have this WONDERFUL circle that you cut out from this card….you can’t let it go to waste!

CFAprBlogHopCard2Yep…that circle works perfectly on my second card.  Again the base if Coastal Cabana.  I took another strip of the Coastal Cabana and ran it through my Arrows Textured Embossing Folder and added it to the card front then added my cool leftover circle.  Next I made my tag, stamped the star in So Saffron and the greeting in Tangerine Tango, Soft Suede, and Coastal Cabana, added a strip of dsp to the bottom, Soft Suede 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to the top tied with Linen Thread.  The tag is added using dimensionals.  I stamped the celebrate in Soft Suede on So Saffron, cut out with the Starburst Framelit and added it to the card to finish it off.

Okay…time for the my last item…a little money holder.  No matter WHAT gender you are…money works!

CFAprBlogHopeMoneyClsdThis is a quick and easy money holder.  Now because gift cards are just a smidge bigger than 2″…I went with money instead of gift card so it would work with my Tag Topper punch.  Went with this one so that it again was more ‘gender neutral’ then the scallop one would be!

CFAprBlogHopMoneyOpenThe outside is really just 3″ by 4 3/4″ wrapped about the tag and the tag is 2 x 5.  Fold up 1 1/2″ on the bottom to create the flap and secure with the Retro Fresh Washi Tape.  I just LOVE all the thing you can do with the Washi Tape!  The AWESOME is from the the Cool Kids set, stamped in Soft Sued on Very Vanilla and cut into a banner.  The stars are from Perfect Pennant, stamped in Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana, and Crushed Curry.  The candy Dots are Crumb Cake (because I ran out of all the Soft Suede one from the card above!)

I hope you enjoyed my projects and are inspired to do some fun things with the Retro Fresh dsp!  Now it’s time to hop on over to Judy DiScipio at Judy Stamps blog and check out the GREAT projects she has for you!

Regarding Dahlias Favor

Dahlias FavorWOW…I can’t believe it!  We are at the end of Create with Connie and Mary Card “Create”tions 2014!  It always seems to go by sooooo quickly and WOW…there were just so many FABULOUS card ideas!

On Saturdays each of the design team creates a small 3D or favor to go along with the set they used that week for their card set.  Can you guess what set I use?  Yep…Regarding Dahlias and I just LOVE this set!  For my 3D I made a little seed packet holder.

Here’s the details…

  • Gumball Green – start with piece approximately 6 x 7 1/2.  Fold up 2 1/2″ flap.  Lay the cardstock on the Oval Accents Die so that the fold is along the bottom…that will help hold the packets in.  Cut out with the die.
  • Island Indigo – 1 1/4 x 6.  Lay in the same place as the fold was and cut.  Run through the Chevron Embossing Folder.
  • Whisper White – 5 x 3/4.  Punch with Scallop Edge Punch, a add behind the Island Indigo piece and then add to Gumball Green base.  Tape sides (where the round bump is) to form the pocket.
  • Stamp Dahlia on the Green/Blue flower dsp using Versamark, black emboss, cut out and add using dimensionals.
  • Punch out Whisper White Label Bracket punch.  Punch out a silver glimmer Modern Label punch, split in the middle and add to each side.  Stamp greeting using Versamark on Pistachio Pudding, black emboss, punch with 1 3/8″ circle punch, add using dimensionals.  Add piece to favor front using dimensionals.
  • Add Island Indigo Candy dots to the Silver Glimmer ends.
  • Fold 2 seed packets so they fit nicely in the favor, add to pocket and you are good to go!

Check out what the rest of the design team did for their favors this week!

Too Cute

Coco ReadingIt’s been some time since I’ve shared any doggie pictures (must be that too busy working thing!)  Anyway…one of the things I’m working on at school is working with a friend on recreating the big course he is responsible for.  There’s a lot to redoing the course…not just rewriting the content but he has decided to use what is called an ‘open source’ textbook meaning we can take this textbook and edit all we want…take out parts we don’t want, add in things we do, rearrange the material.  It’s a good book…just needs some tweaking to get it to align with the course we are designing.  Anyway…I decided I REALLY needed to sit down and start my edit of the book…spent most of last week doing that (am ALMOST finished!).  Anyway…I know…long story but I had to explain this picture!

Coco was feeling a bit neglected.  Okay, if it’s been an hour and no one has snuggled or petted him…he is extremely neglected.  So I’m reading this book and he jumps up in my lap and I get this picture.  I think this is the CUTEST picture EVER of my little wookie!  He looks like he is soooo concentrating on reading!

So…just a little smile to brighten up your day!

A Dozen Thoughts

CCMC299Happy Thursday everyone!  It’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and we have such a great sketch challenge for you!

So you ever get caught up in using all your ‘new’ stuff that the ‘old’ tried and true just doesn’t get used?  Yep…that happens to me too!  As I sat down to work on my card for today I thought about some of my stuff that sometimes get overlooked in favor of bright, shiny, and new!  So…I decided to pull out my faithful old 2-step bird punch and feature it on my card today!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 5 1/8 x 3 7/8.
  • Cut out 3 of the 2nd to smallest square framelits from the Blushing Bride dsp.  Round the corners and add to the card front.
  • Whisper White – 1/2 x 4.  Stamp greeting using Basic Grey, cut into a banner and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Punch out 4 of the leaves/stems from Pistachio Pudding, sponge edges in Pistachio Pudding then add to card front.  Punch bird and 2 wings out of Blushing Bride.  Run wings through the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, sponge all the edges.  Add wings to the bird then add bird to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add medium basic pearl to the bird as the eye to finish it off.
