Just Sayin’

DSC01508Melissa Davies made this wonderful card and I decided to do a CASE of it for a make and take for a workshop in January.

I added a layer where Melissa’s was just a one layer card.  I wanted to step it up just a little bit.  I also had used this same basic idea when I made this card for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4.  Stamp the largest one using Daffodil Delight, the bunch of little flowers in Smoky Slate, and the last flower in StazOn Jet Black.  Add the panel to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Pick one of the greetings from the Just Sayin’ set.  Stamp using StazOn Jet Black on Whisper White.  Cut with matching framelit and add using dimensionals.

Yep…that’s really all there is to this card.  And it’s such a great card…just swap a different color for the yellow and you have another cool card.  This was a fun make and take.

Set(s): Simple Stems, Just Sayin’
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, StazOn Jet Black
Other: Bubbles Framelits, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Geometrical

CCMC292It’s THURSDAY and you know what that means?  Yep…it’s time for another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!

Okay…so this week is a color challenge.  Now you need to know that I was the one who came up with this color challenge.  When I sat down to do this I said to myself…WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???  Then I was working with it I decided…LOVE IT!  It’s funny like that with challenges…sometimes the ones that you think are the most difficult end up being a fun one!

Here’s the details –

  • Summer Starfruit – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5.  Layer onto Basic Black 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.
  • Stamp the grid on the panel using StazOn Jet Black.  Use the Summer Starfruit and Pistachio Pudding markers and color in random squares.
  • Wrap Summer Starfruit Twine (Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack – SAB) around the panel then add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Pistachio Pudding – 1 1/8 x 3 3/4.  Stamp greeting using StazOn Jet Black.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Punch out triangles from the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp pack – Summer Starfruit print, Pistachio Pudding print, and Basic Black.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to finish it off.

Yep…REALLY happy with this one!  The design team did a great job with this color challenge so check it out!

Set(s): Geometrical, Off the Grid
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Summer Starfruit, Pistachio Pudding, Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp

Simple Stems

SimpleStemsI needed to come up with a demo card for a workshop I have tomorrow night and decided it would be fun to show all the gold ‘stuff’ that is in the mini.  I wanted to use the great new vellum and the gold Washi Tape (I have been on a bit of a Washi Tape kick lately).  As I was looking for some inspiration for my card, I happened upon The Paper Players challenge for this week and although I didn’t follow it exactly, I really did base it on it.

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Gold Foil Vellum – 5 x 3 3/4, add to card front
  • Whisper White – 4 1/2 x 3 1/4, add the three different gold Washi Tapes.
  • Stamp the greeting using StazOn Jet Black right on the solid Gold Washi Tape.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Stamp flower and stem using versamark, gold emboss, cut out and add using dimensionals.

Pretty easy card really…but uses LOTS of fun stuff!

Set(s): Simple Stems, A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Versamark
Other: Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape, Gold Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Four You

SUO91Welcome to another SUO challenge!  The theme this time is Banner Fun and I decided to have some FUN with my Banner Framelits and the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp.  What a great combo and the most difficult part of it was deciding this this was going to be a birthday card or a congratulations card.  I guess you can tell which one won!  LOL!!!

Here’s the details –

  • Pool Party – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 5, layer onto Basic Black 3 7/8 x 5 1/2.
  • Stamp greeting using Pool Party.
  • Banner – Cut out 4 of the black print using the second to smallest banner framelit.  Cut out 1 each of the Pistachio Pudding, Summer Starfruit and Crisp Cantaloupe print using the same framelit then trim them down to 1 1/2″.
  • Punch holes in each of the banners using 1/16″ hold punch.
  • String through the Summer Starfruit Twine from the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) Accesssory pack.
  • Use dimensionals on the back of all banners and add to panel.
  • Wrap ends of twine around the panel to back then add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some Gold Foil stars to the banner to finish it off.

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the design team did with punches.  Everyone had such a unique take on this!

Simple Stems

TSSC303It’s another Monday and another FUN Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.

I thought I would do something different for the next several Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenges.  You see sometimes, when I have a chance I like to work on several at a time and I actually had time to do that recently.  So I decided that for this one and the next three all would use the Simple Stems set and the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp!

Here’s the details….

  • Sweet Sorbet – black print – 3 strips 4 1/2 x 3/4, cut into banners and add to card front.

  • Stamp stem using Pistachio Pudding, flower using Crisp Cantaloupe, and greeting using Basic Black on Whisper White.  Cut out using the 2 3/8″ Circle Framelit and add to card front using dimensionals

Simple Stems

CAS261Blushing Bride!  I was soooo happy to see this color again when Stampin’ Up! did the color adjustment but then I sort of forgot about it.  The CAS challenge this week is that your card base has to be a color…no neutral.  So what did I pick?  You guessed it…Blushing Bride.

Lately I seem to be ‘stuck’ on Simple Stems.  LOVE this set!  I always tend to go for the solid images anyway and this set is just so much fun to work with.  OH…and guess what?  It was ‘sitting on top of my desk’ so things came together VERY quickly.

Here’s the details…

  • Blushing Bride – 4 1/4 x 11 folded.  Run through Decorative Dots (SAB) Embossing Folder.  Corner round bottom left using Envelope Punch Board (LOVE that corner rounder!).
  • Blushing Bride – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, corner round bottom left using Envelope Punch Board and sponge around edge using Blushing Bride.
  • Stamp greeting using Versamark and white emboss.  Light sponge Blushing Bride over it.  Add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp flower and stem using Versamark on Blushing Bride, white emboss, sponge Blushing Bride over it.  Cut it out and add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Pearls to finish it off.
Set(s): Simple Stems, Simply Celebrate
Paper: Blushing Bride
Ink: Versamark
Other: White Embossing Powder, Decorative Dots (SAB) Embossing Folder, Basic Pearls, Envelope Punch Board (or Corner Rounder), Dimensionals

Petite Petals

DSC01510Here’s a little card that was one of the make and takes we did at a workshop in January.  The hostess had asked that I do something the Petite Petals and matching punch and scallop embossing folder.  You can’t beat a pink and green color combo, put it all together and this is what I came up with!

Here’s the details –

  • Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Pink Pirouette – 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, run through, Scallop Embossing Folder, layer on Primrose Petals 3 3/4 x 5.  Add to card front.
  • Whisper White – 2 x 4 1/4.  Punch one end using the Scallop Tag Topper and corner round the bottom ends.
  • Stamp greeting using Basic Grey.
  • Run through the Needlepoint Embossing Folder.
  • Add Pear Pizzazz Chevron Ribbon throw tag hole and tie using Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  Add to card front using dimensionals.
  • Stamp the one Petite Petals flower two times using Primrose Petals and the other one time using Pink Pirouette.  Punch out using matching punch.  Add 4 petal bitty punch flower – two in Pink Pirouette, one in Primrose Petals.  Use Petite Petals punch and Pear Pizzazz to make the leaves.  Add flowers to the tag.
  • Add small pearls to the centers of the flowers to finish it off.

Happy Day

F4A209Happy Friday!  I wanted to do a little stamping before I head over to school.  The Free For All Challenge on SCS was to use hexagons.

Since I needed to do a QUICK card before I head out, I decided to build my card around these butterflies that were sitting on top of my desk…you know how I like to do that!

Here’s the details…

  • Basic Black 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Whisper White 3 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Punch three  hexagons across the bottom and stamp greeting using Basic Black.
  • Add a Crushed Curry Scallop Edge Punch along the bottom and a Pumpkin Pie strip along the top.
  • Tie Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon along the top.
  • Add panel to card front using dimensionals.
  • Butterflies – Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry Elegant Butterflies, Whisper White Bitty Butterflies.  Matching Candy Dots.  Add with double layer of dimensionals

Yep…that’s about it.  To me this is a real ‘throw back’ to when I first started stamping and we really didn’t have a lot of ‘extras’ to work with.  I do like the simplicity of the look.

Set(s): Happy Day
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Brights Candy Dots, Regals Candy Dots, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Hexagon Punch, Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Ribbon, Dimensionals

Just Sayin’

CCMC291Happy Thursday everyone.  Oh my…there is a hope of Spring in the air!  Okay…it’s not -9 and it’s not snowing…I guess that is hope!  But for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge, I decided to add a little hope with a happy card…okay…I think it is happy!

This is a fun set.  One of the things I often forget to do is to make my own dsp.  Now that there are so many pretty printed papers out there, it is easy to forget to make our own.  The sketch challenge this week I thought was perfect for doing this for the panel.

Here’s the details –

  • Basic Black – 4 1/4 x 11 folded.  It’s a little hard to see from the picture but I ran it through the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.
  • Whisper White – 2 3/4 x 4 1/4.  Stamp the large flower with Daffodil Delight,  the multiple blossom flower in Smoky Slate and the ‘starburst’ flower in StazOn Jet Black (or Basic Black).  Layer 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of Smoky Slate under it then another piece of the Smoky Slate 3/4 x 4 1/4 along the top.  I a piece of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon around the tap and add to card front.
  • Stamp greeting using StazOn Jet Black (or Basic Black) on Daffodil Delight, cut out with matching framelits and add to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Add some Basic Rhinestones to the center of each ‘starburst’ flower to finish it off.

Check out Create with Connie and Mary to learn more and to see the great projects by the design team.

Set(s): Simple Stems, Just Sayin’
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, StazOn Jet Black
Other: Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Basic Rhinestones, Bubbles Framelits, Silver 1/8″ Ribbon, Dimensionals

Tour de Freak – Feb

freakwelcome2013

Welcome everyone to the February Tour de Freak Blog Hop!  This month it’s a ‘anything goes kind of hop so you are going to see a bit of this and a bit of that.  If you are going forward through the hop you arrived here from Wendy Weixler;s Wickedly Wonderful blog.  Weren’t those project terrific?  LOVED ‘EM!!!

FebCardDo you love Washi Tape?  I do too but I find I tend to NEVER use it…just collect it.  Well…I’m trying to change my wayward ways so I decided that I would feature the Retro Fresh Washi Tape in my post!

The main panel on my card is made by adding Washi Tape to Whisper White then cutting out the ‘bubbles’ using the framelits.  The Just Sayin’ greetings are are stamped using Soft Suede on So Saffron and added behind the panel using dimensionals.  Next came the Natural Trim tied with some of the Pool Party Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessories pack (SAB).  This is added to a piece of Baked Brown Sugar then added to the Coastal Cabana base.  It’s finished off with the Woo Hoo stamped in Soft Suede on Coastal Cabana, cut out with the matching ‘bubble’ then added using dimensionals.

Feb3DOh I just LOVE my 3D project!  Washi is sooo good on so many different surfaces.  I bought this fun LIVE wood piece (it was already painted white).  I ran the Washi Tape straight across then used a craft blade to cut all the excess off.  Worked GREAT!  I used the Retro Fresh then the Crumb Cake design from the Epic Day Washi Tape Collection.  The ‘stem’ is from Simple Stems, stamped in Versamark, embossed using Early Espresso the colored using Pear Pizzazz marker.  This is added using dimensionals.  I made the ‘flower’ using two different prints from the Retro Fresh dsp pack and fringe scissors (how cool) then add to the dot on the i using tombow.  I finished this off using some basic rhinestones.

HopFrameAnd one more project…well mainly because I had this wooden M sitting on top of my desk. Then I sort of added the Washi Tape to and thought …hmmm…that looks cool!  Then I decided I needed to do something with it and I had this frame sitting there right by my desk.  So when I finished playing with it…this is what came out.  I did get the letter the same time I got the LIVE up above.  They are just so easy to cover with the Washi Tape…you have GOT to try it!  Add it to a piece of Whisper White that is layered onto Baked Brown Sugar.  I took a piece of Coastal Cabana (8×8), picked out 4 prints from the Retro Fresh dsp, layered each on Baked Brown Sugar then added to the Coastal Cabana.  Finally I punched out the Coastal Cabana Stripe using the Pansy Punch, added a 1″ Tangerine Tango Circle, stamped a flower from Petite Petals using Coastal Cabana, punched out with the matching Petite Petal Punch and added a Tangerine Tango Candy Dot in the center.  I used the Pansy Punch and Baked Brown Sugar for the leaves.

HopGroup

What fun Washi Tape can be!  So now it’s time to head over to my friend Connie Babbert’s Inkspired Treasures Blog!  Great projects await you there!
