Happy Watercolors

SUO89Sorry I’ve been a bit absent…life got a bit complicated the past week and I wasn’t home to do any stamping and just had my posts that I had worked ahead on.  But I’m back now and trying to back into the swing of everything and starting out with this card for the SUO challenge…a single layer card.

Now a single layer card is definitely a CAS card so this was an easy one for me.  I knew I wanted to do a ‘silhouette’ look…so I just had to figure out how to go about it.  My Happy Watercolor Set was just perfect for what I wanted to do!

Here’s the details…

  • Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11 folded.
  • Stamp the watercolor ‘blob’ using Daffodil Delight Three Times
  • Stamp the Flower image using StazOn Jet Black and color in with a Basic Black Marker.
  • Stamp the greeting using Basic Black
  • Run through the Delicate Designs border along the bottom
  • Tie a piece of Daffodil Delight Seam Binding around it and yep…you are done!  It IS that easy!

Make sure you check out what the rest of the SUO design team did with the challenge!

Set(s): Happy Watercolor
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight
Other: Delicate Designs Embossing Folder, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding

TSSC298Happy Monday everyone!  Today is a day off (although when you teach online there really isn’t a day off!) and there is a GREAT sketch over on Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  So, if you have some extra time on your hands come join the fun!

So…I started out with an idea to EXACTLY follow the sketch this week.  Hmmm…I think something happened by the time I finished!  EEK!  But it’s sort of close.

Here’s the details:

  • Crisp Cantaloupe – 4 1/4 x 11 folded
  • Sweet Sorbet dsp dotted print 2 1/4 x 4 1/2 layer on Sahara Sand 2 3/8 x 4 5/8 and add to card front.
  • Stamp in Calypso Coral, cut out with matching Starburst framelit, add to card front using dimensionals.
  • I made my bow (see tutorial tab above for basic instructions) but instead of using a brad I tied it with a piece of Linen Thread then added to the card front using dimensionals.
  • Add a Crisp Cantaloupe Boutique Detail to the center of the bow.

TSSC298Isn’t this a fun sketch?  So I sort of put my main panel more to the right then the rectangle at the top became my bow that I angled on the left.  It’s CLOSE…well sort of!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

Tour de Freaks January

freakwelcome2013Welcome everyone to the January Tour de Freaks!  This month some with be showing off Valentines Day projects while other Freaks will be doing ‘stuff’ with the new Sale-a-bration items!  If you are going forward through the hop you have arrived here from Robin Spinner’s blog – About a Girl.  Weren’t they fun projects?

DSC01393For my projects I decided to use things from the Sale-a-bration brochure and specifically the Heartfelt Banner.  It’s one of those things that really is not my style but thought maybe I could do something with it.  Well…I decided to use some of the items to make them into cards and I think they turned out pretty good.  For my first one I used Crumb Cake as my base.  The doily and two banners are from the pack.  The flower is cut from one of the other banners (I used the other piece on my third card).  I added a piece of Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon along the top and added a Coastal Cabana Boutique Detail.  I stamped the greeting (Delightful Dozen) on Whisper White using Basic Grey, add to the flower then added both the to card using dimensionals.

DSC01396Now for the second card.  This time I chose Coastal Cabana as the card base.  I added a piece of the Calypso Coral Chevron ribbon along the top.  I layered the dotted banner and the flower one and added some for the Linen Thread (came in the kit) to it.  I did use a double strand instead of just a single.  These banners are added to the card base using dimensionals.  I added a canvas heart (from the kit) then added a Coastal Cabana Boutique Details  to the heart.  Finally I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey on the card front.

DSC01394For my third card I used Pear Pizzazz as the card base.  I took the canvas banner (from the kit) that has the heart cut out of it already and ran it through the Delightful Dots (SAB) Embossing Folder.  I added the left over piece from the first card behind the opening in the heard then added this to the card front using dimensionals.  Next I made a bow (just click on my Tutorials tab above and you will find my bow tutorial) using the Candy Dots brad base and Calypso Coral Ribbon.  I added it to the Chevron Flag.  I stamped the hello twice using Basic Grey on Whisper White, cut into flags and added behind the bow then added this panel to the card front.

DSC01400So those were my cards but what the HECK do you do with the felt balls that come in that kit.  THAT was my REAL challenge.  First…I cut them in half.  Then I used the Fun Flowers Die and cut out the two smallest flowers using the Sweet Sorbet (SAB) dsp.  Now that I had a flower I had to do something with it.  I took a 2 x 8 3/8″ piece of Pistachio Pudding.  I scored at 4 and 4 3/8.  Then I punched both ends using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey, folded up and added a Ghirdelli Chocolate inside.  I tied the top using Crisp Cantaloupe Twine to finish it off.  Cool…VERY COOL!!!!

So that’s my projects for today!  Now it’s time to head over to Justin Krieger’s blog – JK Cards.  He has some fun things in store for you.

Okay…a little about my card.  I LOVE the idea of watercoloring but well…I’m not that great with it and it TAKES ME FOREVER!!!  We will NOT discuss how LONG it took me to do this little image!  Usually it take me longer to take my picture, crop and copyright it, do a blog post then post it around then it take for me to make a card.  Today..NOT!!!  But I do think it turned out pretty and the watercoloring isn’t half bad!  I’m REALLY looking forward to the NEW ALCOHOL MARKERS Stampin’ Up! is coming out with!

Here’s the details:

  • Pink Pirouette – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded
  • Stamp greeting using Basic Black
  • Watercolor Paper – 2 1/2 x 3 1/4.  Stamp image using Stazon JetBlack ink.  The vases are colored using Smoky Slate and blender pen, the stems/leaves are all Pear Pizzazz, the flowers are Primrose Petals and blender pen.
  • I folded some Pear Pizzazz Chevron Ribbon and added to the left side then just did a ‘tail’ on the right side and added this behind the panel.  I added the panel using dimensionals.
  • To finish it off I took a Pink Pirouette medium button, tied some white baker’s twine on it and added it to the panel using dimensionals.
