December Tour de Freaks

freakwelcome2013Welcome to the December Tour de Freaks blog hop where we are giving you a sneak peek of the fun new stuff that is available in the NEW Occasions Mini.  If you are going forward through the blog hop you arrived here from Patty Bennett’s blog…weren’t her project such FUN!!!!

For my project I decided to use one set from the new Occasions Mini.  When I participate in the hop I like all my projects to ‘coordinate’ so today I’m sharing with you a simple box and set of 5 different notecards.

WatercolorBoxFirst…my box.  I know that you have seen TONS of boxes out there made with the envelope punch boards and yep…this is another one.  I had designed this for my Hostess Appreciation event where each person made a set of 5 monogrammed notecards then this box (well…different colors and such) to hold them.  Since i was doing notecards for this I decided to share the box.  It’s so simple – 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock then 3 1/8 and 4 1/8 punch/score.  Yeppers…that is it!  The black strip is 3/4 x 10 1/2.  The tag using the new scallop tag topper oh…hmmm…the twine is from SAB!!!  I bet you can guess what set I decided to use?  Happy Watercolor!!!

WatercolorThankYouWhen designing my cards for this project i didn’t want to use the Happy Watercolor set for the flowers but instead for the ‘watercolor’ images that are in there.  I think this gives it a very contemporary look to these little cards!  The card on the left using another tag (like I did for the front of the box) and more of the SAB twine and for the card on the right, just an extra panel and a strip.  Oh…I decided that my colors were Whisper White, Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe and Black.  All my projects use just these colors.  So these are my two ‘thank you’ cards.  The envelope liners are Crisp Cantaloupe and again…wanted to keep things nice and modern.

WatercolorHappyThis is my set of 3 “you make me HAPPY” cards.  I used the Scallop Tag Topper again…this time to make a thin tag and added a Boutique Details embellishment on it and the other two are just an additional panel (the one layered onto Crisp Cantaloupe).  The envelope liners on these are Pool Party.

So here’s a listing of all my supplies…

Joy

JoyFrame2Happy Thursday everyone!  Today is the last Thursday before Christmas so a Merry Christmas to all of the wonderful people who join us every week for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.

This is also the start of a little different week for me…a week of JOY.  Back in November I was working on presents for some colleagues and my hostess appreciation event and some other things and just had a ball using the Gift Bow Angel and using it with the word Joy so I thought this week would be a great ‘week of Joy’ as we lead up to Christmas!  So this is my first one.  This is an insert for an 8 x 8 frame.  I did shoot it without the glass so I could get a good picture of it.

Here’s the details…

  • Cherry Cobbler 8 x 8 for base
  • Whisper White Core-dinations (wanted some texture) 5 1/2 x 5 1/2
  • Silver Glimmer 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 (did cut out the middle as it would have been a lot of wasted glimmer!), layer Whisper White piece on it.
  • Add two pieces of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon then add panel to card front using dimensionals
  • Okay…you can find a million tutorials on how to make the Gift Bow Angel so I won’t go into that but I used Cherry Cobbler (bottom of dress through the Delicate Designs embossing folder), Blushing Bride (arms and face), Silver Glimmer (halo), Whisper White (collar).
  • Add angel using DOUBLE layer of dimensionals
  • Stamp JOY banner in Versamark, silver emboss, cut out, layer and add to angel using TRIPLE layer of dimensionals.
  • Add little Silver 1/8″ bows to ends of banner and add rhinestones to collar to finish it off.

I really wanted to keep this simple but for it to still be very striking.  I do just LOVE the way this turned out!  Please come back this week to see my other JOY Angels!
