Tour de Freaks – Aug

freakwelcome2013

Welcome to the August Tour de Freaks!  We are all so happy that you are joining us!  This month it is all about the Holiday Mini.  I thought of doing Halloween but it feels too early for Halloween.  Then I thought about doing Christmas…but well, since I thought it was too early for Halloween it is DEFINITELY TOO EARLY for Christmas!  And since Monday (19th) was ‘back to school’ for me…FALL was the perfect theme for my projects and posts.

If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from LeeAnn Greff’s Flowebug’s Inkspot blog!  Oh…her projects are always so cute!

thankful1One of the new products I really like in the mini is the Expression Thinlits.  They can be a little ‘finicky’ when you first start using them until you figure out the right ‘sandwich’ for your machine.  Once you do…these are just SOOOO much fun!  Pair the thankful expression with some of the Sweater Weather dsp and you have a GREAT fall card!  I also used the diagonal striped embossing folder from the mini on this!

So…on to my next card…

thankful2Although when looking at this, it is definitely a CAS (clean and simple) card, it honestly took me much longer to make then my first one!  Why you ask?  Well, I decided that for idea to work right, I had to ‘add back in’ all those extra little pieces (at least most of them) AND since the panel is up on dimensionals…yep, all those little pieces had to be too.  Okay…a little NUTS on my part but I just LOVE the look!  What you can’t see from the picture is that I took the piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock that I used as my ‘behind’ panel and ran it through the script folder.  It gives it just a little extra dimension!  And the Candy Dots are just that little extra something.  BOTH cards have a finished size of 6 1/2 x 3 1/4.  Now to get my NEW envelope maker so I have really cool envelopes for these!

I was trying to figure out what I wanted for my 3D (we don’t HAVE to do a 3D but I know you all enjoy it!) and I was having trouble coming up with something to show you.  So…since I had already made this anyway and it uses BUNCHES of stuff form the mini…I thought I’d share this with you.  So…here’s my FALL banner…

Fall

I am having such a GREAT time making banners using the new Create a Banner Kit.  I’ve done the Spooky one and a snow one but decided I needed to do a fall one!  Besides the banner kit I used the Sweater Weather dsp, Autumn Accents die, Script Embossing folder, burlap and Crushed Curry Chevron ribbons.  There’s some buttons thrown in there too!  If you haven’t tried these yet…WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  They really are just soooo much fun to make!

So now it’s time to head on over to see Mindy Backes and her Bada-Bing! Paper-crafting blog.  She always has such delightful projects!

Perfect Blend

TSSC276It’s time once again for another Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.  Mary Jo has another great challenge for us and I decided to pull out my Perfect Blend set for it!

The base of the card is Pool Party and I sponged lightly using Soft Suede on there to make it match the rest of the papers.  I too a print from the Epic Day dsp pack and added to the side then another print and added a strip on there.  Next I took still another print from the pack and made a tag using the Chalk Talk Framelits ten sponged using Soft Suede.  I added this to the card base using dimensionals.  The hearts are from the same print as the strip.  I sponged these with the Soft Suede then added using dimensionals.  The cup is paper pieced – the cup is a print from the dsp pack, the lid is Soft Suede and the label is Very Vanilla.  It was stamped using StazOn Jet Black ink.  The cup was added using dimensionals.  I tied some Linen Thread in a Pool Party button and added using dimensionals then added some Basic Rhinestones for a little extra touch!

TSSC276Wow…I pretty much followed the sketch this week!  What a fun sketch it is!  We’d love to have you play along!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!
