Back to School

SUOSchool1Oh my…so I see that the SUO challenge this time is Back to School and WHAT…I have NO SCHOOL STUFF!!!  So…when in doubt…go to MDS!

This is mostly designed in MDS.  There is a cute apple stamp in there that I ‘blew up’ to the size I wanted.  I then Printed things out in the size I wanted and used the pieces to create the apple, stem and leaves.  (This is a folded card in the shape of an apple.)  The card base if Real Red.  I did the stem in Early Espresso, ran through the Woodgrain Embossing Folder, sponged the edges in Early Espresso an added to the card base.  I did the top apple also in Real Red, added the Whisper White piece (this was on the original apple image in MDS), ran through the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder, sponged the edges in Real Red and added to the card.  I took the leaf from the MDS image, and traced it so there were the two and they were connected, cut out of Gumball Green, and added a Crushed Curry Button to the leaves using White Baker’s Twine.  I added this to the card using Glue Dots.  I stamped the star (Simply Stars) using Crushed Curry on Daffodil Delight, cut out and added to the card.  The A is from the Typeset Alphabet Dies (in Gumball Green) and then I just hand cut out a plus sign in Basic Black.  Isn’t this just FUN?  I was sooo happy with the final card!

Check out what the rest of the SUO Challenge Design Team did with the challenge this time!

Gifts of Kindness

TSSCOh my…is it time for ANOTHER Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge?  Well…yes it is!  And what a GREAT sketch it is!

I am starting to offer my customers a fun new card class that they can do at home and this is one of the sets they will be purchasing and using.  (No this is not one of the cards…just one of the sets).  I LOVE this set…so many ways you can use it! Oh…and I LOVE the new incolors!  You can’t go wrong with either of them.

So the base of the card is Whisper White.  I took a piece of Pistachio Pudding, stamped the Dictionary Background stamp using Pistachio Pudding ink then added to the card base.  Next I took a Coastal Cabana dsp print, layered it on Whisper White and added to the base.  I inked the stamped using Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana (are you sending a theme here???), stamped on Whisper White, cut with the oval framelit and added to the card base using dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting on Pistachio Pudding using Basic Grey, cut into a banner and added using dimensionals.  Finally I stamped the flowers again using Coastal Cabana, cut out, curled the petals and added to the stamped image then added some pearls to finish it off.

TSSC274Lookie there…I did follow the sketch this week!  We’d love to have you play along!  Don’t forget to check out the other members of the team and remember go to the Technostamper blog to play along!

More Monograms

ConnieWell I promised yesterday during the Control Freak Hop that I would share some more wood letters!  These are the ones I made for my roommate Sharon and my special friend Connie (yep, of Create with Connie and Mary) and Annette.

I asked my friends what their favorite dsp was in the new catalog and had to laugh that they all picked the SAME one!  I sure did make doing these quick!

I got the letters a Michael’s and they were plain wood.  I started by spray painting them white so that when I left a gap between the hexagons it would show white!

Sharon

The Gingham Garden dsp is just so happy!  Yep…that’s the best way to describe this dsp…HAPPY!!!!  So many fun prints to use and it just soooo looks like a quilt when you are done!

I punched out a lot of hexagons and made little piles so I could see all the different prints.  This helped me be able to make sure I use a variety and not keep using the same print.

I used Modge Podge to add the hexagons to the wood letters.  I like using these because you have a little ‘wiggle’ time to get it where you want it.

AnnetteAs I said in my post yesterday, once I got all the hexagons on there, I let it dry then added a layer of Modge Podge on top.  You need to make sure that is good and dry then spray paint it with Clear Acrylic Spray and let it dry.

I made the flowers using the coaster board that I added cardstock and dsp to.  I used the Fun Flowers Die and I added the layers of the flowers together using dimensionals.  I finished off the flowers using a Strawberry Slush Boutique Detail in the center.

LisaOkay…and one last one!  My friend Lisa has been my roommate for several of the conventions and she has not been able to go.  Also her birthday is in June and this month, well…she just had a rough start to her month.  So I thought I’d bright her day with a surprise letter.

She loves the Epic Day dsp and so I used that on hers.  It’s made just the same as the others except her flower is all dsp and the center is Crushed Curry Button in the center with Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow on there.

So I hope you have enjoyed my monograms!  I just had sooo much fun making these and they really didn’t take that long at all!  You will notice that I didn’t add the extra flowers on these.  The reason I kept these more simple is because the top three were traveling to SLC then back with there new owners and Lisa’s was mailed to Nebraska!

Set(s): none
Paper: Melon Mambo, Gingham Garden dsp, Epic Day dsp
Ink: none
Other: Fun Flowers Die, Hexagon Punch, Boutique Details, Regals Buttons, White Bakers Twine, Coaster Board, Dimensionals

Tour de Freaks – July

freakwelcome2013

Welcome everyone to the July Tour de Freaks!  Because of the Stampin’ Up! Convention we are hopping a week later than usual but we are worth the wait!  If you are going forward through the hop you arrived here from Patty Bennett’s wonderful site – Patty’s Stamping Spot!  Weren’t those just wonderful?

Card1

I had already shared my convention Control Freak swaps so I have something else in store for you!  Oh…I just love the new Modern Medley dsp and wanted to showcase that this month.  I also spent A LOT of time playing with the hexagon punch (as you will see in my NEXT item) and thought I’d do a card to match my 3D.  This is a 6 1/2 x 3 1/4 card.  The base is Bermuda Bay.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla, layered on Basic Black and stamped my friend using Basic Black.  I took a piece of Real Red, cut into a banner and added to the panel. I added a Basic Black strip then wrapped a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon around it.  I added the panel to the card base.  Next I punched out three hexagons and added to the card using dimensionals.  Finally I made 3 flowers using the Boho Blossom Punch, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla, Real Red and a Basic Black Candy dot.  I added these to the hexagons using glue dots.

MaryOkay…now for my VERY favorite!  I made letters for my roommate and some special friends at convention (see my post tomorrow – Sunday – for these).  I loved them soooo much I decided to make one for myself.    For mine I decided to go with the Modern Medley.  I bought the wood letter at the big box store and spray painted it white.  I punched out a BUNCH of the hexagons and adhered to the letter using Modge Podge.  Once it was dry I added a layer of Modge Podge on top and then when THAT was dry I sprayed with Clear Acrylic sealer.  I made my BIG flower using the Fun Flowers die, Bermuda Bay, Modern Medley dsp, Real Red cardstock adhered to coaster board.  These were layered using dimensionals and I added a Basic Black button tied with Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  Then I made a bunch of little flowers using the Boho Blossom punch and the same as the flowers on my card.  I added these to the M using glue dots.  This is one of those items that is just sooo hard to get a good photo of and is MUCH cooler in real life!

Set(s): Six-Sided Sampler
Paper: Very Vanilla, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Basic Black, Modern Medley dsp
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Boho Blossom Punch, Fun Flowers Die, Coaster Board, Neutral Candy Dots, Neutral Buttons, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Hexagon Punch, Dimensionals

So now it’s time to head on to the next stop on the hop.  Next up is Julie Davison at Julie’s Stamping Spot.  She has such wonderful projects in store for you.

CCMC261Oh…the fun we had at Convention!  We hope that you all enjoyed the two week challenge!  Such pretty cards in the gallery!  Well…now it is time for another sketch challenge and it’s a pretty easy one.

The base of the card is Island Indigo.  I used a really print from the Venetian Romance print, layered on Very Vanilla and added to the card front.  I took a piece of Pistachio Pudding, pierced the frame in there, added the Finishing Touches Edgelits in Island Indigo and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting in Basic Grey and Island Indigo on Very Vanilla, punched with the Wide Oval punch and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I used the Bitty Punches to make the little flowers in Island Indigo with Pistachio Pudding leaves.  I added these using dimensionals.  Finally I added Basic Pearls to the center of the flowers to the Pistachio Pudding panel to finish it off.

You want to make sure you check out the AWESOME cards from our Design Team…they are THE BEST…so head over to Create with Connie and Mary now.

Remembering Your Birthday

TSSC273Sometimes it is just so much fun to pull out an old set…especially when you can pair it with some fun NEW STUFF!!!  What a fun sketch on Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge this week!

Rev Up the Fun

CFSwap2Oh…having such a GREAT time at convention!!!  (and although I’m writing this before I left…I’m still sure I’m having a GREAT time at convention!)

Today we are having our Control Freaks swap.  At some point during the convention the Control Freaks get together and do a swap just between us.  I LOVE swapping with this group…such a talented bunch of folks (oops…almost said ladies but we do have some gentlemen too now!)

For our swap we each do 2 cards and this is the first of the two I did (I’ll show you the other one of Sunday so stay tuned for that!  I do love 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 cards and both of mine were that size.  The base of the card is Real Red.  I took a piece of Bermuda Bay added the Basic Grey Chevron strip then the two dsp banners  I then added the panel to the card base.  Next I punched out a 2 1/2 Whisper White circle, stamped the tire tread using Smoky Slate then the greeting using Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral.  I used my new Circle Framelits to cut out a Basic Grey Circle, added the Whisper White circle and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped the motorcycle in Real Red, cut out and added using dimensionals.  I just LOVE the new Candy Dots so I added Whisper White, Basic Grey and Real Red ones to finish it off.
