Tour de Freaks – Nov

Welcome everyone to the November Tour de Freaks where that very special group of Control Freak Swaps share with everyone some unique ideas!  This month our theme is Chirstmas…HELLO…how can you resist that!  If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert’s blog – Inkspired Treasures.  Weren’t her project just ADORABLE?   And just so ‘Christmasy’!

And now for my projects.  I decided to share two small 3D projects with you.  The first is a fun little treat bag (filled with Candy Canes) that I made awhile back but decided to wait until the Christmas Freak hop to share with everyone.

I LOVED the glassine bags that came in the Ghoulish Ghouls kit…LOVED them!  So I took one and ran it through Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I CAREFULLY opened the bag and filled with little candy canes.  But Mary…you say….are some of those items RETIRED???  What are you doing using RETIRED stuff on a Tour de Freaks post.  Well, it’s like this…none of it is retired!  ALL the decorations on this bag are found in the Snowflake Season Simply Scrappin’ Layout Kit!  Yep…the red scrolling thingy, the tags, the pretty silver glimmer snowflake, the ivory satin ribbon and yep…the little clothespin!  WOOO HOOOO…nothing retired!  I just love how these items look on a little bag!

And now for my second little 3D item.  I was out looking around that big box M store and saw these CUTE little heart shaped ornaments and I said to myself “wouldn’t those be just DANG CUTE with the bottom embossed and a snowflake one them?”  So I came home and embossed the bottom of the ornament with white embossing powder (it sort of looks like snow in real life!).  Next I did the medium snowflake from the Snow Flurry Die in Silver Glimmer, the small snowflake in Whisper White, put them together with a Silver brad and added to the ornament using Glue Dots.  I tied a bow in the White Organza Ribbon, attached to the top of the ornament using Whisper White Baker’s Twine and then tied that into a hanger.  This is definitely one where the picture just does NOT do it justice…AT ALL!!!!

So that’s my little Christmas projects that i have to share with all of you!  Hope you enjoyed them!  Now it’s time to move on to Judy DiScipio’s – Judy Stamps site and be AMAZED by her delightful projects!

Lovely as a Tree

Oh first…before I forget…tomorrow is TOUR DE FREAKS!  Join us as the Freaks celebrate CHRISTMAS!!!

Okay…got that done!  I honestly can say I do not remember the last time I used this set.  I like this set…FABULOUS images!  I’m truly glad SU hasn’t retired it because the trees are just wonderful!  I just haven’t used it in FOREVER!!!  But when I saw the colors for the color challenge on SCS today (Night of Navy, Perfect Plum, and White) I, for some reason, immediately thought of this tree.  Instead of Whisper White, I used shimmery white on my card…oh this is one of the those cards where the picture just does NOT do the card justice!

Quick notes…the base of the card is Shimmery White.  I took another piece of the Shimmery White, ran it through the Chevron folder and added the to the card base.  Took another piece of Shimmery White, ran it through the Apothecary Accents Framelits, embossed the tree in white and sponged around it using Perfect Plum and Night of Navy.  I cut some piece of the Shimmery White with the Apothecary Accents Framelit, ripped the edges, and added to the base using dimensionals.  I added a Silver Glimmer Star (Merry Mini’s punch pack) and 1/4″ circles to the tree to decorate it.  Then added some Silver Dazzling Details to accent the ‘snow’.  Finally for the greeting, stamped using Night of Navy and Perfect Plum, punched with the large oval punch, sponged lightly with Perfect Plum, layered onto a 1 1/4″ Silver Glimmer Scallop Circle then added a Night of Navy Modern Label (that I cut so I could make it longer) and added that using dimensionals.

Oh…I am just sooo happy with this!  But you really do need to see it in real life!
