Snowflake Soiree

Oh my…Thanksgiving is over, Black Friday (and the major shopping frenzy) is done so now it is time to get down to the really important thing…participating in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!  WOOO HOOO!!!  hehehehehe.

We have a fun wintery (or could easily be spring) color challenge for you!  I decided to go with a snowflake theme since we have occasionally had some cold days around here.

The base of my card is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I took another piece of Whisper White, stamped the largest snowflake in Baja Breeze then the medium on in Wisteria Wonder, wrapped some Wisteria Wonder/Whisper White Baker’s Twine around it and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped Merry in Baja Breeze, cut with the Apothecary Accents framelits, sponged with Wisteria Wonder and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I cut the medium snowflake from Silver Glimmer, added a 1/2″ Baja Breeze Circle then added a Wisteria Wonder Printed Designer Brad.  The snowflake was added to the card front using a dimensional to finish it off.

Set(s): Snowflake Soiree
Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Baja Breeze, Wisteria Wonder
Other: Snow Flurry Die, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Whisper White/Wisteria Wonder Baker’s Twine, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Don’t forget to check out what the other design team members have done with the color challenge then join the fun!  Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Acrylic Masks – video

Welcome to my very first video!  WOOOOO HOOO!!!  I’ve shared a couple cards where I used the Autumn Accents Die to create a mask from an acrylic (Window) sheet.  I love using Window Sheets for masks because they are much longer lasting and acrylic surface is great to pulling the ink into the open area.  Here I show you how to create the make and deal with the extra openings.

Here are the cards I did using this technique.  If you click on the picture it will take you to the post describing that card.

So grab your Autumn Accents Die, a piece of Window Sheet and some post-it notes and you are ready to go!  Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Tweet Leaves

The SUO challenge this time is to make a unique fold card.  I have not had the chance yet to make a twisted easel card so decided that now would be a GREAT time to do that.

The base is made from the 2nd to biggest window framelit in Cajun Craze.  I then added a full Cajun Craze panel over the top.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla, stamped the Tweet Leaves image in Versamark and clear embossed.  I made an acrylic mask from the Autumn Accents die (check out my video on making acrylic masks here) laid it over the image and sponged More Mustard, Cajun Craze, and Island Indigo.  I added Island Indigo Large Scallop edgelits on each side and added to the card front using Dimensionals.  Next I added a Champagne Glimmer strip to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Early Espresso on More Mustard, punched with large oval punch, layered onto a Cajun Craze Modern Label then an Island Indigo Scallop Oval.  This is added to the card front using dimensionals.  Inside I did a window panel in Very Vanilla, stamped the image in More Mustard (stamped off once) then did another greeting piece (same as the front) only with the sentiment in Petite Pairs.

Set(s): Tweet Leaves, Made for You, Petite Pairs
Paper: Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Island Indigo, Champagne Glimmer

OH…come back TOMORROW as I share MY VERY FIRST VIDEO!!!

Check out what the rest of the team is doing with this challenge!  Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Peace on Earth my…the CAS challenge this week is to be inspired by the quote…

“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night-Galileo”

How wonderful is that!  As soon as I saw that I thought of the phrase “Peace on Earth” and wanted just a couple stars ‘twinkling’ in the sky.  Now I have to be honestly, this photo does NOT do this card justice…not even close!

The base of the card is Shimmery White.  I took another piece of Shimmery White, embossed the greeting in Silver and used the Holiday Collection Framelit Star to put the three stars in there.  This is mounted to a piece of Silver Glimmer paper using dimensionals and then that panel is added to the card front using dimensionals.  To finish it off, I added a couple Basic Rhinestone for just a little more bling!

Set(s): Greetings of the Season
Paper: Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Ink: Versamark
Other: Holiday Collection Framelits, Silver Embossing Powder, Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Just Believe

I was really stumped by Mary Jo’s Technostamper sketch challenge this week.  I think it was the on point square that did me in.  Anyway after playing with it a LONG time.  I finally came up with this.  Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and I hope the sales were with you if you went shopping.

The base of the card is More Mustard.  I cut out some leaves in More Mustard using the Autumn Accents Die and added to the bottom of the card.  I added a piece of the blue gingham print from the Orchard Harvest dsp and then a strip of the Cajun print.  I cut out two of the maple leaves (Autumn Accents Die) in Very Vanilla.  I sponged the one in More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, stamped the leafy image in Early Espress, layered onto the Very Vanilla leaf, made a ‘bow’ (click the tutorial tab above to access bow tutorial) using Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon and a Designer Printed brad,  added to the leaves, and added to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Early Espresso and Cajun Craze, cut with the Bitty Banner Framelit then added to the card front using dimensionals.  A couple Basic Pearls were added to finish things off.

Set(s): Just Believe, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper: Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Orchard Harvest dsp
Ink: More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, Early Espresso
Other: Autumn Accents Die, Bitty Banners Framelits, Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon, Designer Printed Brads

Happy Thanksgiving!

A very a happy Thanksgiving to one and all!  Just a quick post here as I’m sure you all are busy with all the food prep.  I used the Sweet Sunday sketch…what a GREAT sketch!

The base of the card is Very Vanilla.  I took another piece of Very Vanilla, ran it through the Woodgrain Embossing Folder and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I took 4 of the prints from the Howlstooth and Scareybones dsp, rounded the opposite corners of each (they are 1 3/8″ square punch) and added to the card front.  Nest was a strip of Basic Grey cut into a banner, two of the Little Leaf sizzlets in Very Vanilla then I stamped the greeting in Basic Black on Pumpkin Pie, punch with Modern Label punch and added using dimensionals.  Finally I added some Basic Rhinestones for a little bling.

Tour de Freaks – Nov

Welcome everyone to the November Tour de Freaks where that very special group of Control Freak Swaps share with everyone some unique ideas!  This month our theme is Chirstmas…HELLO…how can you resist that!  If you are going forward through the hop, you arrived here from my friend Connie Babbert’s blog – Inkspired Treasures.  Weren’t her project just ADORABLE?   And just so ‘Christmasy’!

And now for my projects.  I decided to share two small 3D projects with you.  The first is a fun little treat bag (filled with Candy Canes) that I made awhile back but decided to wait until the Christmas Freak hop to share with everyone.

I LOVED the glassine bags that came in the Ghoulish Ghouls kit…LOVED them!  So I took one and ran it through Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I CAREFULLY opened the bag and filled with little candy canes.  But Mary…you say….are some of those items RETIRED???  What are you doing using RETIRED stuff on a Tour de Freaks post.  Well, it’s like this…none of it is retired!  ALL the decorations on this bag are found in the Snowflake Season Simply Scrappin’ Layout Kit!  Yep…the red scrolling thingy, the tags, the pretty silver glimmer snowflake, the ivory satin ribbon and yep…the little clothespin!  WOOO HOOOO…nothing retired!  I just love how these items look on a little bag!

And now for my second little 3D item.  I was out looking around that big box M store and saw these CUTE little heart shaped ornaments and I said to myself “wouldn’t those be just DANG CUTE with the bottom embossed and a snowflake one them?”  So I came home and embossed the bottom of the ornament with white embossing powder (it sort of looks like snow in real life!).  Next I did the medium snowflake from the Snow Flurry Die in Silver Glimmer, the small snowflake in Whisper White, put them together with a Silver brad and added to the ornament using Glue Dots.  I tied a bow in the White Organza Ribbon, attached to the top of the ornament using Whisper White Baker’s Twine and then tied that into a hanger.  This is definitely one where the picture just does NOT do it justice…AT ALL!!!!

So that’s my little Christmas projects that i have to share with all of you!  Hope you enjoyed them!  Now it’s time to move on to Judy DiScipio’s – Judy Stamps site and be AMAZED by her delightful projects!

Lovely as a Tree

Oh first…before I forget…tomorrow is TOUR DE FREAKS!  Join us as the Freaks celebrate CHRISTMAS!!!

Okay…got that done!  I honestly can say I do not remember the last time I used this set.  I like this set…FABULOUS images!  I’m truly glad SU hasn’t retired it because the trees are just wonderful!  I just haven’t used it in FOREVER!!!  But when I saw the colors for the color challenge on SCS today (Night of Navy, Perfect Plum, and White) I, for some reason, immediately thought of this tree.  Instead of Whisper White, I used shimmery white on my card…oh this is one of the those cards where the picture just does NOT do the card justice!

Quick notes…the base of the card is Shimmery White.  I took another piece of the Shimmery White, ran it through the Chevron folder and added the to the card base.  Took another piece of Shimmery White, ran it through the Apothecary Accents Framelits, embossed the tree in white and sponged around it using Perfect Plum and Night of Navy.  I cut some piece of the Shimmery White with the Apothecary Accents Framelit, ripped the edges, and added to the base using dimensionals.  I added a Silver Glimmer Star (Merry Mini’s punch pack) and 1/4″ circles to the tree to decorate it.  Then added some Silver Dazzling Details to accent the ‘snow’.  Finally for the greeting, stamped using Night of Navy and Perfect Plum, punched with the large oval punch, sponged lightly with Perfect Plum, layered onto a 1 1/4″ Silver Glimmer Scallop Circle then added a Night of Navy Modern Label (that I cut so I could make it longer) and added that using dimensionals.

Oh…I am just sooo happy with this!  But you really do need to see it in real life!

Watercolor Winter

Mary Jo had such a GREAT sketch this week for the Technostamper Monday Lunchtime sketch challenge.  I FINALLY had the chance to take my idea and get it done!

My friend Connie got me hooked on the Watercolor Winter set and it is just such a nice one.  The base of my card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Cherry Cobbler.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla, layered to Lucky Limeade and added to the card base using dimensionals.  Next I cut out 5 different prints using the Largest Bitty Banner Framelit in patterns from the Festive paper pack and then added these to the card front.  I took a piece of Very Vanilla, stamped the greeting using Lucky Limeade and Cherry Cobbler, layered onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped the outline of the poinsettia twice in Basic Black on Very Vanilla, stamped the insid eof one with Riding Hood Red and the other with Lucky Limeade, cut out and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I colored some of the very smaller pearls using my Gold Glimmer Pen.  I added some to the center of the poinsettia and then below the word Christmas.
