Trendy Trees

WOOO HOOO!! Time for another CAS challenge!  You know how much I LOVE this!  Unfortunately this week (and I would guess next week too) because of ‘stuff’ I will only have one card…but it is a REALLY COOL CARD!!!

The challenge this week is a color challenge – brown, green and white or ivory.  I really like the look of mostly white cards so that is what I want with to really show off the colors.  I thought the colors were just perfect to showcase the soon to be retiring Trendy Trees!

The base of the card is Whisper White.  Then I took another piece of Whisper White and stamped the greeting using Garden Green and added it to the card base using dimensionals.  I did the frame from Lots of Tags Sizzlet collection in Early Espresso, punched out a Wide Oval Whisper White, and layered some Wild Wasabi Little Leaves behind it, then added to the card front.  I did the shorter trees using Wild Wasabi/Chocolate Chip and the taller tree using Garden Green/Early Espresso, cut them out and layered onto the Whisper White oval using dimensionals.

Set(s): Trendy Trees
Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Early Espresso, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi

Turtle and Co.

Okay…I have to admit it…this is the FIRST TIME my Turtle & Co (RMHC) set has seen ink!  EEEK!!!  Say it ain’t so!  I was looking through the inspiration site (Rosenberry Rooms) on SCS this evening and found and inspiration piece that just MADE me ink it up!

Okay…so as you can see from this inspiration piece, I did a pretty literal translation of the inspiration piece.  As soon as I saw it, the long neglected Turtle & Co FLASHED before my eyes!  And as I pulled to out to look at it…I was right…PERFECT!!!  So a cute little card.

The base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Marina Mist that I ran through the Striped Embossing Folder.  I took a piece of Whisper White, stamped the greeting using Basic Black, added a Marina Mist Scallop Edge, layered onto So Saffron, then tied a So Saffron 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around it then added to the card base using dimensionals.  I stamped the Turtle and the Frog on Watercolor paper using StazOn Jet Black.  I colored with the Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist and So Saffron Markers and the Blender Pens.  I cut these out and added to the card base using dimensionals.

Set(s): Turtle & Co
Paper: Whisper White, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Watercolor
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, So Saffron

I Dig You

I do like these colors…it’ a little more ‘masculine’ look I think.  See what I mean about these colors.  I like Night of Navy but just never seem to use it.  And we are trying to use those GREAT in colors that will be retiring soon in our challenges this month and next…you know…last chance before they are gone.  I will soooo miss all these colors when they are gone!  The peach really does look great with the navy and sahara!

The base of the card is Night of Navy.  I took a Sahara Sand piece and added a strip of Peach Parfait to the top and Peach Parfait scallop edge to the bottom then added this to the card front.  I layered a piece of Whisper White to Night of Navy and added that.  I made a banner from the Peach Parfait dotted print from the Just Add Cake dsp pack.  I stamped the dump truck using the Night of Navy, Peach Parfait and Sahara Sand, and the packages using the same colors, cut things out and added to the Whisper White panel using dimensionals.  The tired have silver brads in there before adding.  I stamped the greeting using Night of Navy on Peach Parfait, cut into a banner and added using dimensionals and glue dots.

Love & Sympathy

Okay…so my life is just a tad bit hectic right now and I seem to be running late on a couple things and those of you who know me know I DON’T DO RUNNING LATE!  I will admit I was a little perplexed by Mary Jo’s sketch this week…not a difficult sketch…just didn’t know what I wanted to do with it until tonight.

It was those little squares that got me on this.  After paging through my catalog, I figured out it would work with ‘clear block stamping’ (using the acrylic blocks to do the colored blocks) and then stamping an image over it!  I’ve been resisting this set (Love and Sympathy) since it came out but when I found it was ‘spared’ from the retiring list, I jumped to get it.  I needed still another get well card – my sister is very ill right now and as of a couple hours ago had her 3rd surgery in about 3 or 4 weeks.  She did well, and we are hoping that now she will finally be on the road to recovery!

So I was thinking about making a pretty get well card for Lu (my sis) and I was thinking how I will miss Peach Parfait – such a pretty, soft orange so this is what I came up with.  Once I had an idea, it came together VERY quickly!  The base of the card is Peach Parfait.  I took a piece of the Peach Parfait polka dotted paper and added to the side.  I took a piece of Whisper White, used the Adorning Accents Edgelit then the Adorning Accents Embossing folder on the edge and added to the card front.  I used the acrylic block to make the Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait color squares, then stamped the flower image in Basic Grey on top.  When I cut out I trimmed around the stems for a little bit of an ‘out of the box’ look.  I layered this on a piece of Whisper White using dimensionals, then I layered that on the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey on Pear Pizzazz, cut into a banner, made a ‘bow’ (click on the tutorial link above) using Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding and a Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad, add to the banner then added to the card front using glue dots and dimensionals.

Set(s): Love & Sympathy, Sweetly Said
Paper: Whisper White, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Incolor dsp paper pack
Ink: Basic Grey, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding, Incolor Glimmer Brads, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Fox & Friends 1

It’s time again for another CAS challenge on SCS.  Today we are doing a theme challenge of ‘at the zoo’.  I was really glad we are doing this now since my ONLY set with animals is retiring soon the end of May!  Well…I was having so much fun with the challenge that I made THREE…so make sure you check them all out!

When I first thought about this challenge this was the idea that came to mind.  I wanted to pair this saying from Smarty Pants (retiring soon) with the monkey ‘tumbling’ across it!  And it really is so quick and easy to make.  The base of the card is Whisper White.  I took another piece of Whisper White, stamped the greeting using Basic Black and Real Red then the monkeys in Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi, and Pacific Point.  I added the panel to the card base using dimensionals then added some little rhinestones for a little bling.

Set(s): Fox & Friends, Smarty Pants
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Fox & Friends 2

So…here’s the second one I did for the ‘at the zoo’ CAS challenge on SCS.  This was the second idea that came to mind.  I liked the idea of the monkeys hanging from the goofy!  LOL!!!

Another VERY easy card!  Base of the card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 Crumb Cake.  I took a piece of Whisper White, stamped the greeting using Tempting Turquoise and Real Red. I stamped the monkey using Soft Suede (with Tempting Turquoise for the eyes and Real Red for the mouth) two times.  I did the little hat form Look Who’s Turning using Real Red and Tempting Turquoise markers, cut out and added to the monkeys.  I added this to a Crumb Cake panel, added three Turquoise brads then added this panel to the card base.

Set(s): Fox & Friends, Smarty Pants, Look Who’s Turning
Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Real Red
Ink: Soft Suede, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red
Other: Scallop Edge Punch, Brights Brads, Dimensionals

Until next time…HAPPY STAMPIN’!

Fox & Friends 3

And now for the last of my Fox & Friends cards.  I just LOVE the sketch on the clean and simple fall to layouts site this week and thought it would be fun to use for the CAS challenge on SCS.  I little more ‘fancy’ than the others…but fun!

The base of the card is Marina Mist.  I took a piece of Whisper White and added to the card base.  The giraffe is stamped in Marina Mist (punch 1 3/4″ Circle), Lion in Perfect Plum (punch 1 3/8″ circle), and Monkey using Wild Wasabi (punch 1 3/8″ circle).  These are layered with 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ and 2 1/2″ Circles in the Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum.  These are arranged on the card front then some basic rhinestone for bling.  So…then where did that greeting come from.  This is a retired set – Family Phrases – that I just love and couldn’t give up once it was gone.  I stamped the greeting using Basic Grey.

Set(s): Fox & Friends, Family Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum
Ink: Basic Grey, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Perfect Plum
Other: 1/2″ Circle Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2 /2″ Circle Punch, Basic Rhinestones

Pursuit of Happiness

Happy Thursday everyone!  Boy…it’s just been one challenge after the next for me this week!  But you know Thursday is always THE BEST!!  We have a GREAT sketch for your this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge and we hope you will take some time out of your busy schedule to join the fun!

I love the clean look of this sketch – but then that is my very favorite kind of sketch.  I love that you can keep it nice and clean or really dress it up and our design team did a little of both!  Overall I tried to stay close to the sketch but added some fun elements in there….well mostly the fun element was pairing the Blossom Builder (which is leaving the end of THIS month) with the Summer Smooches dsp (new stuff).

Oh how I’m going to not only miss those Blossom Builders but also the Blossom punch…I SOOOOO hope that makes it into the catalog!  But that said, here’s some details for this card….the base of the card is Whisper White.  I rounded the bottom corners then ran through the stripes embossing folder.  I rounded the bottom corners of a piece of the Summer smooches paper and added that to the card front.  Next I took one of the Tasteful Trim scallop designs in Island Indigo and added that to the card front.  I stamped the greeting using Daffodil Delight and Island Indigo markers on Whisper White, punched with the Wide Oval Punch and added to and Island Indigo Decorative Label that I sponged around the edged in the Island Indigo.  This is added to the card front using dimensionals.  Next I did my flower with the Blossom Punch in Daffodil Delight, the open flower from the Blossoms Builder kit, a punched Island Indigo Boho Blossom Punch, a Yellow Buttons with Whisper White Baker’s Twine because I just CAN’T be havin’ NO NAKED BUTTONS!  hehehehehe!  The flower was added using dimensionals to finish the card off!

Set(s): Pursuit of Happiness
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Summer Smooches
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo
Other: Blossom Builders Kit, Blossoms Punch, Corner Round, Boho Blossom Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Stripes Embossing Folder, Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Tasteful Trim XL Die, Dimensionals

Loved Ones

I just loved the soft colors of the Twitterpated dsp and used that as my inspiration.  The base of the card is Natural White.  I used the Edgelits to create that cool edge and the embossed it with the matching adorning accents embossing folder.  I took a piece of Blushing Bride and ran the bottom part through the Houndstooth Embossing Folder and then layered this behind the front layer.  I stamped Happy Birthday from Loved Ones using Baja Breeze.  Next I took the Blushing Bride and Baja Breeze prints from the Twitterpated pack, cut into strips, rounded the corners and added to the card front.  I tied a piece of Baja Breeze seam binding around the card.  To finish it off I good some of the crochet flowers (main catalog) and added the Twitterpated buttons using Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  I added the flower/buttons to the card front using glue dots.

Best of Everything

I will have to admit this sketch had me a bit stumped when I first look at it.  I knew I wanted to try to use the Best of Everything set and I’m trying to use dsp that will be retiring.  As I was going through my paper I found the Berry Blossom dsp and thought it would work nicely with the sketch and set.  I will have to say, once I got it done, I really liked how it turned out.

The base of the card is Calypso Coral.  I took another piece of Calypso Coral, added the dsp to it, tied a Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon around it, and added to the card front using dimensionals.  I stamped the greeting on Wisteria Wonder using Early Espresso, punched with the Decorative Label punch then added to the card front.  For the main panel I stamped the branch using Early Espresso.  Then I stamped the leaves in Lucky Limeade, cut out and added to the branch using glue dots.  I stamped the bird in Calypso Coral on the tree branch, then two more times in Wisteria Wonder.  I cut out the body and added to the panel, then cut out the wing and added using a dimensional.  I stamped the flower in Calypso Coral, cut out, curled the edges and added to the panel using glue dots.  I finished off by added rhinestones for the bird eye and the centers of the flowers.

Set(s): Best of Everything
Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Berry Blossom dsp
Ink: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Wiseria Wonder, Calypso Coral
