Birthday Blossoms

Aren’t these colors just FABULOUS?  What I like about them is that they really are ‘bright’ colors but look very ‘earthy’.  After my first idea ended up as something else (check back on Tuesday…I’ll be posting it then) I started playing around with the buttons in the colors (okay…the green is actually Old Olive and not Lucky Limeade…but close enough).  Then thought how cute the buttons would look as the centers of flowers.  Then I started messing around with the size of the buttons.

Then I decided this fun little ‘daisy’ flower from the Blossom Party Die in Whisper White was the perfect size for the medium buttons.  Of course buttons can’t be ‘naked’ so I added them using the Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  So I made up my four little flowers, took a piece of 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 Crumb Cake folded in half for the card base, stamped the greeting from Loved Ones in Early Espresso, then added the button flowers using dimensionals.

There really isn’t anything to say about this because it really is so simple!

On Your Birthday

For the second challenge for the CAS DT search we were given an inspiration photo to work from.  What a fun playground scene.  Inspiration photos are always interesting because there is often so many different ways to go.

I had been looking around on Jen del Muro’s site and found a cute card and just fell in love with the layout!  I also notice many, many, many cool CAS layouts on her site…way to go Jen!  You are rockin’ that style!  But anyway…that layout was perfect for what I wanted to do with the inspiration photo.  I was inspired by the bright, happy colors and the numbers so decided to make birthday card.  The base of the card is Whisper White and I rounded the corners on the right side of the card.  Next I took the red/white star print from the Big Top Birthday dsp pack, again rounded the corners on the right and layered it onto the card front.  I added two pieced of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon to represent the ‘bars’ in the photo.  I stamped the happy birthday in Basic Black and added Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise brad underneath.  For the number I adhered a piece of Pacific Point cardstock to a piece of cardboard (that come with the dsp pack), used my simple numbers die to cut out the 3 then added that to the card front using dimensionals.  Fun and so simple!
