Here's a quick and easy project if you are looking for a different table decoration for Christmas (or any holiday that we happen to have a wheel for!). This idea came from the amazing Julie HRR! She showed them last year or maybe the year before. Marla reminded me about these and I needed a quick demo project for my Monday workshop and this worked out perfectly.

snow votive 1

This shows the finished project without the light turned on inside. Start with a 3 x 7 piece of cardstock vellum (the cardstock vellum is just SOOOOO much nicer to work with then the paper vellum and is equally transparent). Next I used my brayer and the Blue Frost spectrum pad and inked one side of the vellum. Then set it aside to dry. Okay...so it wasn't drying fast enough for me so I took a tissue and lightly wiped it until it was dry. Turn the vellum over and wheel the 'snow' with white craft ink and cover with a mixture of white/dazzling diamonds ep (I used 3 parts white embossing powder to 1 part dazzling diamonds glitter). Heat emboss it. Wrap vellum around pillar votive holder (I found mine at Michael's for only 50 cents!). Tape it together using Sticky Strip (it really does hold it the best).

Snow Votive 2

Here's what it looks like 'lit' with the fake candle. You can buy these at Michael's too but I've also seen them at Target. (My philosophy is to go for the cheapest!) What I found is that it is REALLY difficult to get a picture of this lit. Because the fake candle 'flickers' it was really hard to get a picture that wasn't totally blurry. This pictured turned out pretty good. I like wheeling the image more toward to top of the vellum since you are not going to see what is on the bottom because it is not lit.

Can't you just see these on your holiday table? They'd be great for a shower (okay...maybe NOT with the word snow, but you get what I mean) or birthdays or any holidays.

Happy Stampin'!
