Gift Card Holder

Here's a little something for when you are giving a gift card but want to give a little more. To make this I used some Dashing Designer paper, a gift card holder (the one's in the catalog...I used an Old Olive one to coordinate with the paper), and a giant Hershey bar. This time of year the Kroger's stores always sell these giant candy bars for $1. So if you are planning on giving some gift cards but want to 'dress them up' a bit for the chocolate lovers in your life, here you go!
Start by cutting a piece of designer paper 6 3/4 x 8 1/4. This completely covers the wrapper. If you want you can secure the bottom flap. I didn't so the wrapper would slide off. I then took a piece of 5/8" red grosgrain ribbon and thread it under the designer paper/wrapper (I didn't tie it all the way around the candy bar).
Now take your gift card holder and decorate it any way you want. I took another piece of Designer paper and cut it 2 x 3 7/8 and used my corner rounder on the bottom two corners. I layered this on the top flap. Next I took a piece of River Rock (3/8" x 3 7/8"0 and layered that. I stamped the snowman from Merry & Bright, stamped it in StazOn JetBlack, then colored with Real Red and Old Olive. I added some Dazzling Diamonds using 2-Way Glue. Punched it out with the 1 1/4" punch, layered onto 1 3/8" River Rock and then Real Red Scallop. Then stamp Merry and Bright on the bottom party. (That's for those of you who like to copy!) Okay...now back to putting this together. Thread the ribbon through the little flaps on the side that hold the gift card. You will see that it fits through there nice. Not only can you thread the ribbon through, you can still put the gift card in there! Close it up and that's all there is to it!

So go to Kroger's and get some of these candy bar. Remember...these aren't just for Christmas but would be great for birthday's, Valentine's Day or any special occasion. Tomorrow I'm going to be busy getting ready for my annual Hostess Appreciation event. I love doing this every year. It's a time when I say thank you to all my hostesses. Because of this event (and the fact that I need to get some new batteries for my camera), I probably won't be posting the next two days. Wanted to let you know way! Happy Stampin'!

Hi Mary, I just love this idea. I used these candy bars last year with the Christmas Fudge poem, and now I have a new idea for those 10 for $10.00 bars! Very cute idea - thanks so much! Have a great holiday.

What an awesome idea! Is the actual gift card holder a different pattern? I am new to the site and learning so many new things.

Libby - the card holder was available for purchase in the Holiday mini catalogue (it just expired…). It looks like she just changed it up a bit by putting some coordinating DP over it. HTH!
