Tour de Freaks - November
Oh…it’s the most wonderful time of the month! Time for another Freak hop and it’s all about the most wonderful time of the year…Christmas! it was so difficult choosing just a couple items to show you today but I decided to a collection of items based on one of my favorite combinations of Christmas colors…pink, green and brown (what can I say…I have issues) Now you would have arrived here from my very talented friend Connie’s blog. If you are going backward, CLICK HERE to go to Connie’s blog. And now…on to my projects….
Now don’t forget to click on the picture on the right to see the full size version of this ornament. These have been around for awhile now but I have never made one! I always thought it would be really difficult…NOT!!!! Messy??? Okay…just a little! Beautiful in real life??? ABSOLUTELY!!! I found these clear ornaments and just LOVED the shape as it went right along with the Delightful Decorations and Ornament punch. It also went right along with the rub-ons. I used the Regal Rose reinker and then the Dazzling Diamonds to do the inside of the ornament. I decided to decorate the outside of the ornament with a rub-on…just wanted something small and liked how this ended up working out. I finished off with a white satin ribbon and silver cord to hang the ornament by. So quick and easy (and just a little bit messy!).
Now again, this little treat holder is something I’ve seen around before and decided to give it a try. I will admit, it isn’t difficult but there is alot of prep to it. For the paper, I used a piece from the Merry Moments dsp. I used some of the Melon Mambo 1/2” polka dotted ribbon to tie up the ends. I punched a snowflake from Whisper White and Melon Mambo and layered onto the treat holder. I stamped the Make Merry tag from Greetings Galore on Whisper White using Melon Mambo and punch with the small tag punch. I layered this onto a Chocolate Chip large tag and tied a piece of Old Olive 1/4” grosgrain ribbon on the top. I really like the Greetings Galore set from the Holiday mini…GREAT greetings for all the holidays this time of year!
I had not used any of the stencils from the Decor Elements brochure and decided it was time to give them a whirl. I’ve been using this vintage ornaments 1 to demo a card at my workshops in November. I thought I cool it would be to also use it to decorate a gift bag…perfect for my pink and green Christmas collection! I started with the small ornament and did that in Old Olive. I masked off that ornament and then did the large ornament using Melon Mambo. Next up was using the Silver glimmer paint for the decorations on both the ornaments. One thing…using dotto helps to keep the stencils in place while you are working and is easy to remove when you are done! I used my markers to draw the ‘strings’ and silver cord to add the bows. Here’s another tip…use a little dot of Crystal Effects on the knots of your bows made with the cord so they don’t come apart…works GREAT every time! I took a piece of Old Olive cardstock, used the eyelet border punch along each long end, folded it in half and cut a slit so that it would slide over the handles to hold the bag closed. No bag is complete without a bow, so I added a little Melon Mambo 1/2” polka dotted ribbon bow. And since this hop is about gifts…I found this cute little pink and green snowman to put inside!
Sing it with me…“one of these things is not like the other…one of these things just doesn’t belong…“ Okay…I just HAD to throw this one in. We made this at a recent gift giving class I did and I wanted to share it with you because it is truly one of the EASIEST gifts there is to make! Take a tile, the small Jingle All the Way home decor elements and some of the wonderful black and white 1 1/4” striped ribbon and that’s pretty much it. I added some little red jingle bells…thought it kind of fit with it! So if you are looking for REALLY simple but REALLY easy gift…there you go!
So there you have my pink and green Christmas collection! Now it’s time to continue on your journey to the very talented Erin! Click on the picture below to go her blog.

Totally. Absolutely. FABULOUS! (This, of course, does NOT surprise me!!) You always create such wonderfully-creative things, Mary! Love the pink and green combo, and I guess I am gonna hafta break down and do one of those tiles. It’s so great, and I love how easy it seems as well!

WOW! Your projects are wicked awesome! I love, LOVE the pink and green together. Such a nice twist on traditional colors. The “papillotte” is soo cute, and oh, that bag! Gotta make one just like that for myself! (And see if I can convince myself to actually give it away…)
Thanks for the inspiration!
