Okay so I’m pretty sure the color challenge is based on the new paper that is in the Occasions Mini BUT I had to say I wasn’t really very excited to USE the color combo of So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Orchid Opulence.  Orchid Opulence is one of the color that if SU would decide to get rid of it…I wouldn’t be upset AT ALL!!!!  I have a tough time using that color.  This combo though turned out to be fun for work with.  Check inside for more information about my project, to see a close-up and to find out the winner of last week’s contest.

First thing first…congratulations to Lisa and Robin!  Lisa won first place and Robin second.  Cynthia received an honorable mention.  Congratulations ladies and a big THANKS to everyone who participated this week.  We had some FABULOUS entries.  And now on to my share for this week…

I had picked up this little frames a couple years ago.  There were 3 to a pack for $2.50 and really just a nice size for a cut little stamped picture to give someone.  I decided I wanted to start with the main image from the Abundant Hope set stamped using StazOn JetBlack ink on a piece of Watercolor paper.  I colored the image using So Saffron and Certainly Celery reinkers.  I like using reinkers to color the lighter colors because I can get more intense color with it.  I wrapped a piece of Certainly Celery 5/8” grosgrain ribbon around a 4x4 piece of textured So Saffron cardstock.  The watercolor paper was layered onto a piece of Orchid Opulence carstock and then the base piece.  I put this in the frame.  I wanted some dimension to my picture so I added the next elements on the top of the glass instead of behind it.  I stamped Easter Blessings in Basic Black on a piece of So Saffron and punched using the Modern Label punch.  I used a pop-up glue dot under the middle of the piece to give it curved look.  Next I made Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery and So Saffron butterflies using the Beautiful Wings embosslit - oh how delightful this is!  I then slightly folded these and add to the front of the glass.  You can see a bit of a shadow that was caused by this added dimension.

Well…one more week to go in Create with Connie and Julie!  I can’t believe it is coming to an end and what totally FABULOUS ideas they had for everyone!

Now don’t forget to go and visit the design team’s creations and see what they have in store for you!
