This is an idea that has been around for awhile (making a bag out of an envelop) but it is just really nice made with the Chocolate Chip envelopes from the Carousel Notes set (#111344 - $11.95).  This was a project that I demoed at March and April workshops.

To make a bag-a-lope, take and envelope (any envelope will work) and seal the flap.  Cut off the SIDE (the sealed flap will be going down the back of the bag-a-lope when finished).  I then scored 1” on each side and along the bottom.  The key to making this work is to fold the sides and bottom several times to loosen it up some.  Now put your hand in the envelope to open it up and flatten the bottom.  The best way to describe it now is the bottom sides will become a triangle and stick out on each side.  Add some sticky strip and fold those in towards the bottom.

From here you can now now decorate the bag-a-lope.  I took 1/2” strips and made handles for each side.  You can use regular cardstock or designer series paper.  I attached the handles using brads.  I did two different versions of this bag - one using Stitched Exotics and another using Live Your Dreams.  Both turned out really nice, the Live Your Dreams one was just quicker to make!
