Well I hoped you like my Alter It from last week…I have another good set this week.  These were items I bought at the same time.  I loved the soft colors of last week but I love all the colors of this week.  It is the same print…just different color scheme…and SUCH a different look!  I’m doing all of these in one post so warning…it’s a LONG one!  Make sure you click inside to see all the details…

First I want to show you where these projects started.  I didn’t want to buy exactly the same items as I did with the other set, although I could have, but wanted a totally different look here.  Now I really LOVE the soft colors of the other set but with this I just love ALL the colors!  I’m a rainbow sort of gal!  LOL!!!!  So for this set I picked up a notebook, a refrigerator magnet and another of those small little magnetic notepads (I told you I picked up several of these…and more to come!).  I wasn’t quite sure what direction I wanted to go with this…I could have easily done the monogram look but after much thought I decided these items would inspire creativity!

This was the first piece I worked on.  I was trying to find a flower set to use along with it but wasn’t haven’t any luck so decided a field of butterflies would be PERFECT!!!  Now there are several things with this.  A couple week ago my friend Jackie sent a card she made using Crystal Effects on some of the images.  I hadn’t done that in AGES and sort of stored that idea away for later use.  When trying to decide what to do on the book, I thought it would be cool to use the Crystal Effects on the flowers to give them some dimension.  I did this first because it takes a while for this stuff to dry.  I think I let it dry an hour or so and then I was good to go!

Now you could do ALOT more to dress up this book and if I do give it with a give I probably will.  I would add some colorful ribbons along the side and punch some ‘indexes’ using my rounded tab punch and add those in there.  I see this journal as place to keep your inspiration and creative ideas.  I know I’m always jotting down sketches and color combos I see that I like.

Here you can see a close-up of the book.  If you look closely you can see the Crystal Effects on there.  Now where did that ‘create’ come from?  It’s from my Tres Chic background stamp!  I LOVED the size (used it on ALL the projects) and it JUST FIT into the Large Oval punch!  I used my Chocolate Chip and Rose Red markers on it.  The Very Vanilla piece is layered onto a Certainly Celery piece then a Rose Red piece.  I used 4 separate strips with the Scallop Trim Punch.  I wrapped a piece of Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon around it then made my ‘bow’ by folding over a piece of ribbon and using my rhinestone brad to make it into a bow.  This is my new favorite way of making bows!  LOL!!!  I ran each color of cardstock through my Beautiful Wings Embosslit folder and then used the butterflies on the variety of projects in this set.  So there is my inspiration journal!

When I saw the magnetic I thought it was just TOO CUTE but then when I started working on it…what to do??? what to do???  Since I decided to go with that ‘CREATE’ theme, I just used the same word from the Tres Chic stamp.  This time I inked with my Pumpkin Pie marker.  Now about that flower…I found the tutorial for this on Mercy Kerin’s site Lord Have Mercy.  You punch out 12 (yes that is TWELVE) scallops from paper (I used the retired Haiku dsp), scrunch them, unfold and layer them, punch (or poke) a hole in the middle and add a brad or something to connect them all.  Then you rescrunch the top ones to make a flower.  Now in my ‘stamping from the top of desk’ mentality, I had made this flower, from the retired paper, just to try it out.  Well…since it worked perfectly on this, I just went ahead and used it.  I added a folded piece of the Certainly Celery Stain ribbon behind the flower as the leaves.  I then attached with the the Tombow Multipurpose glue (but since you have your Crystal Effect out…you could use that too!)  Well..that’s all there is to this project…SIMPLE!!!

And now for the final project…I decided it worked sideways better then up and down so I worked it from that orientation.  I started by adding the Rose Red 1/4” ribbon…looked nice but needed something more.  Then I added the Pumpkin Pie 1/4” ribbon…looked better…needed something more.  Then I added the Bashful Blue 1/4” ribbon and I finally liked it! Again I created and used the ‘CREATE’ oval.  That was pretty much all it needed and I was done with this project.

Now isn’t this set just PERFECT for the creative individual in your life?  I know that I’d be tickled pink (well actually tickled Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Lavender Lace - LOL!) if I received this!

Okay…so I liked how this turned out so well that I decided to go back to the store to pick up a set of cards to match this and see what happened if I altered those.  So stop by tomorrow and see my emergency card kit!  Until next time…Happy Stampin’!
